I Just Got It Done Thursday
Punkypoo replied to RachelsREADY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it was a good 2 weeks before it subsuded for me. My hunger cycle is weird. I tend to be hungry at work during the day and less in the evening. I am 6 weeks out and 30 lbs down. I use to be so hungry at night so I am glad that habit has changed. I am still not ready for real food that takes more work to digest like steak. It makes my stomach hurt and I feel like vomiting. I am sticking to soup mac n cheese, protein shakes and Luna Bars, and sugar free pudding. I have not taken my diabetes insulin or oral meds since my surgery!!! And my blood sugars are being pretty stable. I could be off them for good! -

Tomorrow Is 1St Day Back @ Work!?!?
Punkypoo replied to Autumnjazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go back to work Wed but not happy about it. I don't like my job right now. Physically I'm ready but like you I told people I was having a benign tumor removed. I want to be private. I have lost 2 inches on waist hips and thighs but only about 13 lbs. so not too noticeable yet! -
More Than Cardio Needed..help!
Punkypoo replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about P90X i think it is called? -
My surgeon said 4-5oz but everyone is different. Depend how big they left your stomach. Mine is a 38 ( not sure if that's mm cm or what) but my dr says there is better success with a 38 vs 32 or 34. So that will depend on how much you eat. I put one scoop of protein powder in about a 10 oz water/ milk /banana. I takes me all day to drink it!

Not Sure If Surgery Worked?
Punkypoo replied to MrsSweny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anytime! We all need the support of eachother here. This is hard and remember it will take time. You ate the way you did for your whole life so give yourself time to adjust. Just remember your goal and practice good behaviors now:) -
Not Sure If Surgery Worked?
Punkypoo replied to MrsSweny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 days post op and having a lot of head hunger. I'm rarely physically hungry even eating tiny bits. By eating foods before your stomach is ready could actually stretch your stomach and negate the surgery. You may not have symptoms like diarrhea or nausea yet if you are having a hard time adhering to the rules now just think about when you can eat real food. You want to start new behaviors and remember why you did this. -
Not Sure If Surgery Worked?
Punkypoo replied to MrsSweny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This sounds like head hunger to me. I've had that to and you need to listen to the difference. I would not jump ahead from your liquid diet you do not want to disrupt staples and healing. Your stomach is not ready to digest that food even if your head is. -
Ps you talk about your throat. Mine still hurts bad more like my esophagus though. I actually have a large bump. Still painful. They must have scraped it good! Dr said he never saw that reaction before. Hurts to take deep breaths and swallow. Ouch. I'm 10 days out too.

I'm sure you are fine. I hear you will know if you ripped a staple and contents from stomach are floating around abdomen. You get real real sick and have fever.

6 Weeks Post-Op And Regretting The Surgery
Punkypoo replied to ocean_ophelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ocean, I am going to go down a short list to see if you've considered any of these solutions that cause nausea: 1. Could be an inner ear issue with equalibrium- a friend of mine had this problem 2. Could be blood pressure related- usually if low BP 3. possible vision changes? 4. Dehydrated 5. Side affect from meds- may want to try suppository for nausea In the meantime hang in there. You did have a low BMI mine is 36 and I am 7 days post op. I go for my first post op visit tomorrow. Cant wait to see how much i lost. I am lucky and have had no real sick feeling. I have a lot of gurgling drives me nuts. Good luck and hope you feel better. -
I was told about 4-5 oz or 1/2 cup. It seems like I can hold more sometimes. I am only a week out.

Glad to hear it went well. I am right in front of you at day 7 post op. I am doing good too. I have had no nausea or vomiting! Lots of gurgling though, which is annoying. I will know how much I lost tomorrow at my first post op visit. Cant wait to eat normal food. I am a little worried that I feel like I could eat anything..ugh Dont want to get myself in trouble. -
Sleeved Yesterday (2/6)
Punkypoo replied to ByeByeBigGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just a few days ahead of you at day 6 post op. I have lots of gurgling too with almost everything I eat or drink. I'm only eating broth jello pudding applesauce and protein shakes. My pain is pretty good but the upper gastric pain around the diaphragm is pretty bad. Let the losing begin! Oh and liquid Vicodin is so nasty!!! -
I Had A Cup Of Coffee...feeling Horrible
Punkypoo replied to rahnava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm surprised your Dr ok that one. My Dr said no to that for awhile. Especially if it was caffeinated! I would urge you to eliminate from diet all together as there is no redeeming quality to it anyway water water water -
Swallowing Pills Whole
Punkypoo replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends how big they are. If they are capsules then it is hard for your stomach to absorb the outer shell so you do have to put in something. I agree it tastes nasty!! -
Tomorrow 8:00 am a new life begins. I can see the skinny me emerging! I never felt like my body and brain matched and soon they will. Thanks to all of you I feel well prepared I just hope I don't have some of the bad symptoms!

Punkypoo replied to LacieMC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery is tomorrow. I will join you on a hike when I feel up to it. I pray to God that this surgery helps eliminate my itchy legs when I walk! It literally feels like red fire ants crawling all over me and I itch till I bleed. Ugh -
