At my info session, they talked a bit, did Q&As, then scheduled everyone still interested to meet with one of the two surgeons. My appt was about 3 weeks later. I guess every insurance is different but I think that a lot of people are banded not because they cant lose weight but because they cant keep it off. its something to ask your surgeon about. You wouldn't be the first person who doesn't follow the diet as strictly as they should because of that fear.

I ate (drank) a lot of the carton soups like xavier...i was on full liquids for 6 weeks so I had time to try em all! My favorite was a spicy bean soup from Pacific, found in the organic section! So good! Sugar free fudgsicles saved me too.

72 Hours Post-Op... Over Did It!

Soup tastes sooo amazing after being on clears!! I dont blame you! Over near the kids plastic plates etc at target, I picked up a 2 pack of tiny bowls for under bucks...i fill these about halfway and its perfect! At ikea I found some that I imagine are for salsa or something, too. Just using smaller scale items like this really helps me a lot. If I looked at this amount of soup in a big bowl that used to be brimming with cereal, I think id get awfully sad! -
Inpatient Or Outpatient?
Mck xx replied to ElizabethAnne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed the night and am so glad. I also live alone with a 3 year old though so I wouldve had a hard time without any help, I think. I guess if you have someone at home waiting for you, staying in the hospital can feel confining, but for both this and my last surgery, I opt to stay as long as I can. Its nice to be catered to and to have instant answers to my questions and concerns. The iv pain meds are wonderful too -
My dr said takint them off around day ten was totally fine...i just took em off around day 7 cuz they seemed less like steri and more like scary...no problems. If its uncomfortable while trying to remove em, leave them be but I just felt cleaner without them.

72 Hours Post-Op... Over Did It!

Despite the fact that I have 'no restriction', I feel very full off soup! I could only drink a few ounces at a time when I was as far out as you...a whole bowl was def not happening! Drink veryyy slowly and assess how you feel every few sips. If you feel like you CAN stop, do. Come back to it if youre feeling unsatisfied. -

Nervous About Going Under
Mck xx replied to Fat Girl Slim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i was only banded in late january but its been just fine so far. My dr is a little extreme in that ive been on liquids for 7 weeks...that sucks... But I get my first fill tmrw and wilk be able to start solids on sunday. The most painful part of the whole process by far has been my fear. I really do feel like myself and am amazed at what little nourishment I can thrive on, and still have energy! Im really optimistic about the future for a change.. -

Nervous About Going Under

I was awake during my csection and being put under is wayy preferable in my opinion! They had to tranquilize me halfway through the surgery, I was freaking out so bad. I hate not being in control and not knowing whats going on but knocking me oyt -
Nervous About Going Under
Mck xx replied to Fat Girl Slim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I found reading through the 'surgery day stories' calmed my nerves a lot. I was very frightened too. I was crying right before they put me under (no idea how they did it, didn't see it coming), and I woke up still crying, confused and begging them to put me back under! Lol. Its really over before you know it. -

4 Days Post-Op And Lots Of Pressure Under My Ribs
Mck xx replied to Sarahbear0429's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the restiction is possibly most attributable to the swelling...but even 6 weeks out and without a fill, I often feel terribly full after a half cup of cream soup! -
There are nerves at the top of the stomach that when stimulated, tell our brains that our stomach is full. Bandsters, when at proper restriction, fill their pouches with much less food and stimulate these nerves sooner. If we all stopped eating when we were full though, most of us wouldnt be overweight in the first place. There are other side effects such as, yes, bringing food up, when we've had too much. I think banded individuals who are diligent and willing to work with their doctors can certainly feel satisfied after a few fills.

Zero support... everyone thought I was crazy for doing it. Youre not getting banded for other people so dont let others' opinions ever get you down! Eyes on the prize. whars -

Its a fast way to get your protein in but they aren't tasty and leave little bits of congealed protein goo in your mouth sometimes. Im not usually a grape fan but found it to be the most tolerable if you wanna give it a try. Please try a single bottle before investing in a case! -

Im a month out and still get that feeling; for me its most definitely gas. I try and burp but usually to no avail...it passes after a moment.
