just realized you meant the old stomach bug from January! Yes, I had an unfill. Then some fill put back in and then within a few weeks started having issues...so yes, it may have been!
-
I never had the flu, I was not sick. I would get a weird tickle in my throat if I ate or drank anything and when I would lay down it was horrible. It did not matter if I just ate o if it had been hours, every thing came back up. And I did liquids for a few days thinking I just irrated myself some how. But it was a slipped band that was causing the issue. I did not have plication. I have decided not to do any WLS. I am about 40lbs from goal, so I am just going to keep on going with the diet and exercise. The whole surgery again thing is what I am dreading! And the last minute of it...juggling kids and hubbys duty schedule while 4500 miles away from family to help! Luckily the military families here in Alaska are like family and are so willing to help!

I woke up about 10 nights ago from a dead slip...choking, gagging, then throwing up. Reflux was so bad. My throat was on fire! So the next day I did liquids, made sure my meds were taken properly. Same issue that night. Then the next night. (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights). So Monday called my surgeon. Came in, she took out some Fluid. But was worried wanted to make sure I did not slip. But of course I was going out of town for a few days. So came home and scheduled with radiology. Went in today and I have slipped So I am having my band removed on Monday. She wants me to do the pre op diet to help shrink the liver. She took out all the fluid also. I am super nervous...another surgery I am choosing not to have it replaced. I am not looking forward to recovery, I remember the pain from the first few days out last time.

Anybody just wake up (from a sound sleep) gasping for air post surgery?
lorabeth replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That happened to me. Once a few months ago, then again once more time, then started again 10 days ago nightly. My band slipped and is being removed. I would definitely go to your doctor. -
Wondering about Tricare Prime Process - how to begin?
lorabeth replied to Mozzy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am tricare prime remote (we live in Alaska). My PCM sent me to the lap band doctor. I had to show 6 months of trying to lose weight on my own (I had all my weight watchers weigh ins, on the card and online), a nutritional consult, and a psych visit. My BMI was 38 and I have diabetes. It was a long process because I did everything then decided I would wait. Then almost a year later I decided to go for it. It took less then a month to decide and have a surgery date scheduled. -
oh trust me.....I had the stomach bug. It is going around. I never had 1.8cc before. I came out of the hospital with 4.8 cc. Had 1 cc put in. It was to much, so some was taken out. I had it at the level for a few weeks and it was still too full so more was taken out and I went to back to 4.8 and have been happy there for 5 months. But I would be happy if 1.8 gives me a nice restriction. I only had one fill and hated it. So I would love it if the less amount works.

Got the stomach bug on sunday (lost 3lbs in 12 hrs--it was not fun) and started to feel better. Once I started to eat or drink I just would throw up. My surgeon took out almost all of my fill today. I was at 4.8cc and felt restriction. Now at 1.8cc. It was amazing, as soon as she stared to pull fluid out I felt instantly better. So I need to rest my stomach for a week then I can get more fluid back in. But then I told her I was going on vacation, she wants me to wait til I get back just in case I have any problems (I have been very sensitive since the start). So true test...can I maintain or still lose while on vacation with no band help....I can do it!!! Just going to keep eating like I still have full restriction.

I just had most of my fill removed for the stomach flu But I was at 4.8cc in a 10cc band. I was fine right out of surgery. Went against my gut and had a fill. 1 cc. It was too much, so half was taken out. still to much. So back to what I was originally at and felt so much better. But I was just in the office two hours ago and she took out 3cc. So I have 1.8cc in my band. Just ate some cheese and crackers. First food I have kept down in days due to the stomach bug. Once I am feeling better and eating I can have the Fluid put back in.

What? Is An Intern Doing My Procedure?
lorabeth replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
An intern/resident IS a doctor. And depending on what year s/he is, they have been doctors for a few years. New residents start in June, so he is not brand spanking new. If you are having surgery in a teaching hospital you will most likely be speaking to the resident with the attending (your doctor) standing there listening (sometimes, residents make rounds without attendings also) Before I was a stay at home mommy I was a trauma step down nurse in a teaching hospital, so I worked with residents daily. Some of the best doctors I know I meet in their first year. But you can request that the resident does not do the surgery. I did this during the birth of my second daughter. I set the guidelines of who could be in my birth, how many students, etc. Best of luck! -
Has Anyone Decided To Not Fill Their Band/?
lorabeth replied to newme0617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way at my 5 week follow up and first fill. My band had 5cc in it from surgery. I have 1 cc put in then had it taken out 4 days later. I hated the way I felt, it was too tight. Now I am able to eat a blot more (4 weeks later) and I am thinking about should I or shouldn't I get another small fill. Or just go with it. I am losing, not fast, but the scale is going down. If you don't feel you need it, wait!
