The first thing that goes is water weight and some of us carry A LOT of it..esp obese people. I had to do two week liquid diet prior to surgery and after the first couple days it really wasn't that bad and by the 2nd week i wasn't even hungry. Good luck!

Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4Th
Jenn31MA replied to lmbordelon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine on the 5th and i weighed myself today just curious..i knew i was going to weigh more. Only up 4lbs but still really bloated from the IV and gas. I wont weigh myself again till my followup on Wednesday. -
if you are talking to me...i had it on the 5th

Actually i forgot to ask..i was thinking about that after i saw him yesterday. The day of surgery i was so out of it that he spoke to my mom and then saw me yesterday and he went over things. I am going to ask on my follow up next week to see how much they removed. I do know he said they switched to a 40 sized bougie because people were reacting better to it than the 32 bougie he was using. The difference between the two is only a few millimeters so i am not exactly worried. Now i just have to focus on getting this gas out!! haha Seems to mostly be going south which im fine with but my abdomen is still all bloated so i haven't weighed myself since im sure i weigh more. Day 3 post op...and i woke up feeling like someone punched me in the stomach...but its tolerable and they gave me perks. I figured the 3rd day would be the worse. I will say that i cant even tell they did anything to my stomach..the pain was all on the incisions. So far i am happy with my decision.

i had a hiccup earlier too and it was a horrible feeling. I had no vomiting thank god and relatively easy recovery so far. Just really sore on the incisions and i am waiting for the perk's to kick in. I just got home from the hospital at 9pm.was discharged at 8pm.

I just got home..was discharged at 8pm. Had to fill my perk prescription...i am just really sore on my lower belly area. I had a total of 7 incisions but so far i cant tell a difference that 80% of my stomach is gone. I did chug water by accident and i def felt that..was like a tight feeling. Overall i had a great experience in the hospital...no complications...no nausea and had a great nursing staff. I am super bloated from all the saline i was given though so i am not even going to weight myself till next week. My abdomen is bloated too from the gas but that hasn't been bad at all actually. Hope the other 9/3, 9/4 and 9/5's are doing great!

I am officially sleeved. Pain wasnt bad but i mostly slept all day. Im sore when i move around on the bed but otherwise nothing unexpected. My surgeon came in and stated it was textbook perfect and no surprises inside so im overall happy. Hope the others who have had or are having the sleeve this week do great!

Finally.......liquids Are Over ;)

Have you tried the Isopure Zero Carb? its fruity and i actually found its not bad and its def better than the thick milky ones. I have only tried the Alpine Punch but its kind of like a crystal light to me (albeit it leaves a wierd after feeling) but nothing that watering down cant fix. Each bottle has 40g of protein!!. -
Thanks!

I was in the same position as you and decided on the sleeve. My surgeon says that alot his previous lapband patients are revising to the sleeve. If you want to check out the forum on here for band to sleeve patients to get an idea of why they switched. Also the puking/stuck episodes with the band was the deciding factor for me with the sleeve. Ill have no foreign object in me or any rearranged intestines...just a smaller tummy. Its ultimatly up to you though!

Question About Eating.
Jenn31MA replied to Imjustmee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that it applies to puree's and solids but not liquids. I would put instant mashed potatoes as puree so i would say that they apply the same as solid food. The point of the 30 min before and 30 min after is so that you do not fill up on the water and then you do not push the food out of your stomach. They want you to fill up on the food instead! -
September 4Th Sleevers, What Are You Doing Today ? What Did You Do The Day Before Surgery ?
Jenn31MA replied to Odee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing i do have to do is wash my tummy 2 times a day today and tomorrow and then once on Wednesday with this hexaclense stuff. It basically just kills any germs and helps prevent any infections. I have to call tomorrow to get my time for the surgery and its really hitting me now. For those of you going in tomorrow....see you on the losers bench!! -

i was told that those did nothing since the gas is around our organs and not IN the organs. the Gas X only helps that and not the gas they put into our bodies...if that makes sense??
