My Fellow 9/4 (Or Last Week) Sleevers - How Are You Doing ?
Jenn31MA replied to Odee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing good. I had my post op appt today and he said everything looks good.. I really have nothing to complain about...i have had no heartburn, no nausea, no vomiting and no hunger. I was never in pain..just sore and i stopped taking pain meds on Sunday/Monday. I was cleared to start full liquids today thank god because i was crying last night as nothing i was "eating" was satisfying me anymore. So i added greek yogurt and SF pudding today. I am down 9 lbs and a total of 33 with pre-op. I sometimes feel like i am bragging on here but i guess not everyone has issues ....sorry. I am glad that everyone is doing good though now. -
Had my week post op appt today and everything has gone great. I was cleared for stage two diet which adds in yogurt, SF pudding and cottage cheese (not a fan of it though) which made me so happy as i am so sick of clear liquids. I am also hoping that it gives me some energy as I have had none it seems since surgery. The surgeon said that will go away in a couple weeks and that i can resume going to gym in two weeks as well. Hope everyone else is doing great too!

Congrats! -
Oh NO! I am sorry. That has to suck being so close but you seem to already be on track to making it work. Hopefully sooner than later.

I weighed in this morning at 249.0 !! I haven't weighed this much since i had my gallbladder out in 2004...i had the biggest grin on my face when I saw that. I am only down 7lbs since surgery but I had to lose 6lbs worth of gas/IV fluids before I could get this. I also woke up this morning with no pain at all. Good luck to the 9/11 and 9/12 sleevers...I'll see you on the losers bench

Not to brag but i had my surgery on 9/5 and it doesn't even feel like i had surgery. I do have one incision site that is sore but otherwise i am fine. I have no issues getting in all my fluids and protein and i have not been hungry once! Its a weird feeling. I am so happy that I have had no complications and everything is looking good. I add in yogurt to my diet on Wednesday and I cant wait to try something different. I wish everyone who has had the procedure in September so far and those still waiting good luck and i wish you no complications!

I am only 4 days out and i have no issues swallowing the pills whole. They aren't big at all so they shouldn't be a problem. Just do one at a time with a sip of water. Wish you the best!
-
i know they said not to but i used a straw the first couple days... it helped me to remember not to chug. The little bit of gas bubbles i got didn't hurt but just felt funny. Now i seem to be good at just sipping all day long. Until I can actually start eating solids i cant really feel any restriction because the liquid just goes through.
-
I am feeling great actually. I cant even tell i had anything done to my stomach (yet) since i am only on liquids. I do notice if i take too big of a sip that ill get a momentary pressure in my stomach and then its gone...that or the gas bubbles are a trip. lol I have drank protein drinks, jello, broth, water and crystal light and no issues getting in my required amount. As for pain killers they gave me a low dose oxy which i have been taking about two a day...which i will probably stop today. Its just the incisions (mainly 2 of them) that are sore but otherwise i can easily tolerate it and i want to start driving again tomorrow so i need to be off them.

there is no camera down your throat. You swallow something and they watch it go down your throat into your stomach via this big machine...sort of like an xray but its more like a camera. When i had my upper GI it was really neat to watch it on the TV screen. Justine there is nothing to freak out about.

Swelling From Surgery
Jenn31MA replied to robynluevano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had total sausage fingers in the hospital...the arm that has the IV was very swollen and my abdomen i have noticed has gone down. My arm is back to to normal and my stomach almost so but i wouldn't wear pants yet. If you have dresses i would wear those to work...im worried about one incision near my diaphragm i have a feeling isn't going to feel great with a bra (i have been wearing sports bras) -
Did Anyone Not Do A Leak Test?
Jenn31MA replied to smb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a leak test before i left the hospital either. I have heard that some surgeons do them in the OR. I will have to find out when i go for my follow up on Wednesday. -
Some people the next day just have to swallow "barium" like I had to do for the upper GI. They just want to see the liquid pass through the stomach and not leak out. Its nothing to be afraid of.

I am so sorry you've been going through this. I hope it only gets better from now on.

Packing For Hospital
Jenn31MA replied to lisa.mccroskey@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hospital i was in provided everything really. The only things i brought were deodorant, few pairs of undies, hair brush, book, phone and phone charger. They provided toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, lotion etc. Since i had the IV in they made me wear the gowns which was fine with me and they provided me with the socks with the rubber bottoms. Honestly don't bring much since you will be out of it mostly and they provide everything essential. Good luck! -
oh wow. i had my surgery on Wednesday and i gained about 5lbs in the hospital and i weighed this morning only a pound down from when i was admitted. I am still swollen like you though but 10lbs is awesome! congrats.
-
Just be careful that if you eat you don't eat fried food or super greasy food as it will upset your stomach. I did cheat a few times during my pre op diet but if i did i had roasted chicken or salads. You will be fine and your almost there so you must be getting excited and nervous at the same time. I wasn't nervous till they wheeled me into the OR and by that point it was no going back!
-
I am sorry your in so much pain. I had my surgery on Wednesday and so far the gas hasn't been bad. Its working its way out one day at a time but i was told walking and moving around will help it move out. There is only so much you can do unfortunately we have to wait for it to work its way out naturally. Good luck and I am glad you didnt have any complications!

ohhh thanks!! They are like 4.19 a bottle so that's awesome to know.

Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4Th
Jenn31MA replied to lmbordelon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a low dose oxycodon...i have been taking one pill every four hours. I will probably only take it for another few days and then be done. My incisions are starting to itch..which isnt a bad thing as it means they are healing! I just wish i could tell when im full or not...i have just been sipping all day. If i take too big of a sip then i feel that pressure..or ill get little gas bubbles. I cant start on puree's for another two weeks so i guess ill find out then when im full and not full! -
Scheduled First Visit With Nutritionist
Jenn31MA replied to dwbrown1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the last NUT appt was to see how i was doing on the diet to lose weight and if i hadn't lost any weight or was showing no progress then she wouldn't have recommended me to see the surgeon. I had to jump through all the hoops with testing, my insurance and the NP and NUT of the bariatric dept. Once i had that completed then i met with the surgeon and he went over everything and i asked questions and he said ok...your ready lets get you a date! I was having surgery within 2 months. -
Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4Th
Jenn31MA replied to lmbordelon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say that my worst incision are the two above my belly button as that is where my surgeon took out the stomach. As for pain...ive had my gallbladder out and it was the same way except i have two more incisions then i did for the gallbladder. Im 3 days post op and i have to say im just sore..its not horrible and ive never had hunger pains (yet). The gas is starting to leave finally...which ever way it cant lol As for my diet...i am on a week of Clear Liquids but that includes Protein drinks as they want you to start those right away. In the hospital the first day i was given nothing except these wand things to moisten my lips and tongue and i was at some point trying to suck on them i was so thirsty!!
