What Can Go Wrong Is!
Jenn31MA replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is always the way..never just one thing can go wrong. Very frustrating!! I hope for your sake though that you get to keep your surgery date and all works out well! Good luck -
Diet-Headache And Hungry
Jenn31MA replied to DinaMiller6450's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The headaches are most likely from sugar or caffeine withdrawels...at least that is what I have seen and read alot. I personally dont drink coffee and very little soda but i am hoping when i have to do the liquid diet i dont encounter this. I am currently on medicine for my migraines as it is!! It should be better in a few days just keep yourself hydrated and i find that Excedrine works the best for headaches (they were recalled off the shelf but the generic is the same). Good luck! -

I havent been sleeved yet but i can relate to a lot of those things on your list. Congrats on your weight loss so far! -
If its 100% then you should only need to pay the $300 you have left to meet your deductible. I wish mine was $500!! Congrats on the quick approval

6 Month Insurance Waiting Period
Jenn31MA replied to HollyC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am relatively new as well to this whole thing. My insurance requires a 6 month program they call the "I Can Change" program, where i basically have to talk to a life coach once a month for 6 months. At the end they will issue me a completion letter and the hopsital im doing the program through will need to submit with the package. As part of the program through the hospital i have to see the dietician 3 times. I havent lost any weight yet but i also havent gained anything since i started watching the way that i eat. Im glad but also annoyed at the 6 month program becuase I have to wait until end of July/beginning of August for a surgery date. I do have to lose 15 to 18lbs through before they will do the surgery so i do need to get my butt in gear!! As stated by other posters the time has gone by fast and its basically already April and im 3 months in! -

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words
Jenn31MA replied to Globetrotter's topic in Rants & Raves
hahaha I am glad someone said this becuase its drives me INSANE!!! I am always thinking...its lose not LOOSE -
No offense but why would you even think about taking diet pills if you went through with the surgery?? Diet pills are something that I am sure most of i us tried BEFORE we thought about Bariatric Surgery. I wouldnt recommend taking any diet pills with this surgery and im sure most of the rest of the people who have actually been sleeved (i am not until this summer) would agree.

Is This Gall Stone Pain?
Jenn31MA replied to PatrickG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When i was having my gallbladder attacks they lasted a few days each and it was a pain radiating below my sternum but also in the mid to lower back. I had really bad attacks but i also had alot of "poo" issues associated with it. I also found that i had really bad acid reflux all the time and certain foods (especially fried, fatty or dairy) made it worse. I didnt go to a specialist to get this resolved i just saw my PCP and after she felt around my abdomen she realized i was in pain and sore right where my gallbladder would be she ordered an Ultrasound. I dealt with the pain and attacks for a year and a half until i got insurance and i had an ultrasound and they discovered (i wasnt surprised) my gallbladder was filled with stones. She put in a referral to see a surgeon and the first one i saw told me i just needed to lose weight and he would look into it later down the line in 5 months. I was like whoa wait a minute and got a second opinion. I got into surgery within 2 weeks and im glad i did because it stopped working and he said another week and id of been in the ER. I really hope you arent having issues with your gallbladder but if you are it sounds like your on top of it. Do you have any other symptoms other than the pain around your shoulder blades??? I wish you good luck! -
...after lurking around this forum for a week....I feel that the Sleeve is the way to go instead of the band. I would like to introduce myself and thank everyone for having such great insight and advise about the sleeve. Ultimately, I am still about 4 months away from having surgery as I need to finish up my 6 month program with my insurance company. Up until last week when i had my consult i was all about the band but after seeing the great results people have been having with the sleeve was the deciding factor. I also feel that I would get better results with the sleeve as I need to lose 120lbs (which is scary to think) and I dont think I could lose that much with the band. I am scared of the unknown and since i have pretty much been overweight my whole life I am not sure how to handle a small me! I have finally decided that I need the help to lose weight and am not afraid to admit that nor am i ashamed (although I dont plan on telling everyone). So again I am excited and looking forward to sharing my journey with all of you and watching everyone become the beautiful person we are in and out!! Jenn

In Connecticut Looking For Buddies Just Starting Out Help!
Jenn31MA replied to flab u less's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Are you self pay or insurance?? If you are using insurance i would give them a call and make sure that its covered as some employers exclude it from coverage. My insurance (i have Tufts Health MA) requires that i do a 6 month program with them in order to qualify. The rest of it sounds like your on your way!! Good luck -
New Here! Finally Started My Journey Today!
Jenn31MA replied to justathing2me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the board! I go for my consult on 3/6 and hope to be banded at the end of July or beginning of August also. I have to finish the 6 month program with Tufts and during the time I am going to do all my appt's with the clinic. My plan is that I will have surgery scheduled before the 6 months is up and then they can just submit to the insurance (we will see if it goes that smooth)....Good luck!! -
Calories In V. Calories Out Is B&#%!$@!t
Jenn31MA commented on morelgirl's blog entry in Magic Mini Mushroom
Did you take your measurements from before you were banded? I havent been banded yet but whenever i was dieting and the scale wasnt moving much, i did notice my body was toning up and i was losing inches (i would measure myself once a month). So you might not be losing much weight but your clothes will fit better. Dont let this deter you im sure you are doing great!!! -
You need to add the entire link that they give you...not just webpage. The link should start or something like that. Paste it into your signature and save. Once you click save it will change into the image. Mine was in the box labeled bbCode. Hope this helps!

My doctor had me start 2000mg a day in November along with Atenolol to help with my migraines and because my blood pressure was slightly high (I was 258 at that appt). In December i went back and i was put on blood pressure medicine and upped the fish oil to 3000mg a day. I went back in January and i weighed 268 and i had done nothing different than i had the past 6 months i maintained my weight!!. Now through all this i had been working out a few days a week and i dont eat bad (just horrible with portion sizes). Last week i weighed myself in at 275 and i started to cry. I looked up online thinking it was my medicine that i was on that i was gaining weight like crazy as it was the only new thing in my life. I stopped taking the fish oil about the same time as all the pills were binding me up (sorry TMI) and i weighed in this morning at 269....so maybe it WAS the fish oil pills as i am still taking the other medicines. Needless to say im not taking them anymore...and im going to bring this up to my doctor at my appt in a few weeks... I havent been banded yet but i dont see how a banded person can swallow these pills they are huge!! Have you been banded and if so do you have a problem with them?

Wow!! I havent been banded yet but i have to say congrats on the weight loss and from your before and after TT pics...you are like a whole new person! It looks awesome and your so skinny!!
