Weight Gain After Sleeve?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to kaypitre5's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
ABSOLUTELY possible to regain! This is a lifestyle change as well as a change in your relationship with food. You DO need to exercise, watch what you eat and how much. I still leave a 1/2 hour before/after eating to consume liquids (calorie free) The sleeve is a tool ONLY. If you stick with lean/fat free Protein and non-starchy veggies it will stay off. If you eat slider foods (which you will be able to eat more of, be hungry sooner and they are more calorie dense) you will regain. Learn all you can from your nutritionist. In the beginning, restriction helps with learning. You need to know what are trigger foods, as well, and do not allow them into the house. Best of luck! -

@@jharris8641 It kind of sounds like me in the beginning. See, I'm not one for pain pills unless it's serious, so wasn't taking them as often as I should, like when the pain was just beginning. This GREATLY affected my ability/desire to eat or drink. So, for a few days, I took them as prescribed, began eating/drinking and my energy increased as well! Just food for thought......

Congrats!! You are hot at any size, but I can see the confidence and happiness in the more recent pics. Great job, wishing you continued success & happiness

I know this has been done before but...attention
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to Dashofpixiedust8's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think the extra attention is more due to the confidence that you've gained, rather than, directly, from your success. Self confidence is hot! Congrats on your continuing success! All the positive attention & feedback from others, it definitely helps with staying motivated. -
Anyone start over 400+ lbs and had awesome success?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to jodi2727's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It will be a LONG while, if ever, before you will be able to consume 500 cals in one sitting unless it's fried foods, very fatty foods, junk food, slider food or any other calorie dense food. -
Quick - Help!
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to facebro29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course it would NOT be rude to not eat!! Your health comes first. Maybe tea or broth? -
If you are stopping at the FIRST sign of full and sipping VERY slowly, you are eating just the right amount.

Dose anyone have problems with there protein shakes
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to babygirlpa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Have you tried EAS AdvantEdge carb control RTD? A lot of people like them, they are my fav. They are not as thick as some others. chocolate fudge is yummy as well as strawberry, which tastes like strawberry Quik. Syntrax nectar and Isopure Zero Carb are popular fruity ones, with little to no carbs -

Throwingup and diarrhea Sent from my LGLS450 using the BariatricPal App Did you let your surgeon know? That is not uncommon and there are meds for that -

TheRealMeIsHere! replied to babygirlpa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
How far out from surgery are you? In the beginning, there can be a lot of internal swelling, so a 1/2 bottle at a time is fine. But you should be drinking that more often than once a day if that is your main source of protein right now. -

What kind of problems? -
Regain of weight or not losing as much as you want is entirely up to you. Yes, a surgery that includes mal-absorption will make weight loss quicker, but I've heard if people regaining with that, as well. I chose the sleeve so that I didn't have to worry about mal-absorption, re-arranging my insides or the temporary status of a band as well as all the risks of the band. I began at 275+ lbs and dropped to 115, bounced up to 120 where I've stayed for over 4 years. Give or take 2 lbs. If you go into whichever surgery you chose, knowing that it is a lifelong change. You relationship with food must permanently change and exercise is important. This is not a diet, once you lose the weight, it is just as important to continue to stick with the plan. Follow the plan, drink lots of calorie free liquids, avoid trigger foods and slider foods, no liquid a 1/2 hr before to a 1/2 hour after, get enough Protein, etc..... your tool will help significantly if you listen to your body and stop when full. I am healthier, more confident and more energetic than I've ever been. I eat to live, NOT live to eat. Whichever you choose, you CAN make it be successful for you!

How many pant sizes did you lose in a year?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to Synee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You will do great, just keep you eye on the prize, lol!! I began at a very tight size 24, within a year I was a 00 and have maintained ever since. The maintenance is the hardest part. Losing is easier, because you have the reward of watching the scale go down, NSV's, smaller clothes and many compliments. You will easily be able to get to size 10! -
It probably will have no effect on loose skin, it will however help with weight loss and toning.

WOW, I could've written that! I felt EXACTLY the same!! I tend to get 'grossed out' very easily which makes me pass out with little warning. I live alone, so the drains scared me as well! What I did is make them let me care for the drains while in the hospital. Once I got home, I would get everything I needed and lay on my bed, just in case, lol! It actually wasn't as gross as I feared. There shouldn't be a smell unless infected. After a couple of times, I knew I'd be just fine. Yes, the drains are a PIA! The pain from the TT/Panni wasn't as bad as I'd feared, either. I expected to be fairly debilitated. Rather, except for sleeping sitting up and walking like Quasimodo, I was doing my regular stuff from day 1 (just slower, lol). Barely missed a beat! Of course, no lifting. One tip that the hospital told me, was, get a long piece of gauze and make it into a large loop. Put that over your neck to pin the drains to, while showering, once you are cleared. You'll be fine. I look forward to hearing how everything goes.

It's a woman thing! We all jump to help another but feel selfish for doing what we need to do. You really do need to learn to take care of you or you won't be able to take care of anyone else. Many people get help with the emotional aspects of overeating, as the changes need to be lifelong. You want something that you can feel good about and do long term.
-
It would really be in your best interest to get a handle on your self sabotage, otherwise any plastic surgery would be a waste and insurance will probably only pay for it one time. Maybe some counseling?
-
That's awesome that they cover it!! As far as the lower BMI, look at it this way. Insurance probably will only pay for it once, and the less you weigh, the better the end result. As far as maintaining for a year, this is a life change. The weight loss is not temporary as long as you keep following a healthy exercise/eating plan and don't fall into old habits. So maintaining for a year is small potatoes in the big picture. I know it's disappointing to have to wait, just keep your eye on the prize and the time will be here before you know it and the end result will be fabulous!

Success stories who had a BMI of 50+?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to mrstkgreene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started at BMI 50.3-54.9 (didn't weigh myself after a point, so not sure of exact numbers) Had the sleeve in January 2012, within a year had lost all excess weight. Have maintained a BMI of about 22 ever since. It's all in how you follow the program and use the tool you have been given. Best of luck tomorrow!! -
What sport or competition is for me? I need suggestions
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to mi75's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Possibly with losing weight and getting healthier, your leg/ankle has become stronger and healed. Why not begin with getting it evaluated? Maybe you aren't as limited anymore. At the very least, the doctor could advise you of what you can do and what to avoid. -
What could you not have lived without?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to ramsmommy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh yes!! I swelled A LOT as well. Had minimal pain, more of just discomfort and getting used to tight tummy muscles. Did have to wear larger clothes for a while. Stretchy pants, at first, then as I healed, i could do real pants, but larger than my normal size. I'm a size 00-0 and had to borrow my sis' size 4's, made her feel like they were fat pants, lol -

TheRealMeIsHere! replied to ramsmommy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
A comfy place to sleep sitting up for 1-2 weeks. I sat up on the couch and kind of leaned to the side on a pillow. Sounds awful, but was actually very comfy! A long strip of gauze or cloth. Make a loop, put it over your neck to pin the drains to, while you shower. Other than that, recovery was so much easier than I expected. I expected to be incapacitated, instead, I was doing all of my normal stuff from day one, just slower and walking like Quasimodo, lol! And, of course, no lifting.
