NSV and an emotional night and I couldn't be happier!

what a wonderful evening! Sounds like it couldn't have been any better. Your story made me tear up.Congrats on your success and good luck to your mom, if she decides to do it -
At the time, I had Blue Cross. They covered not only panni, but TT too!! YES, just had a panni/TT on 10/17/2013. First printed the ins. criteria from their website. Took that to my pain management dr. who wrote a letter echoing EXACTLY what ins. wanted. Wrote my own stuff about how my co-morbidities are resolved, importance of exercise in keeping weight off and co-morbidities gone. How excess skin impedes exercise. Took all that to plastic surgeon, was approved in less than a week.

TheRealMeIsHere! replied to FitnFabfor2014's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was 275-ish at my highest (stopped weighing after a point) size 22/XXL, or bigger, stretchy pants mostly, some things even a 3X! bra size was something like a 44 DDD or bigger. Now....between 110 and 115 size 00-0!! shirts xs, bra 34c. Deflated wind socks, but with the right bra, they look terrific lol! I am VERY happy! Had a TT/Panniculectomy on 10/17/2013. Fully covered by insurance due to severe back problems, a wonderful referral from pain management and the stars and planets aligning, lol! -

Reading that made me soooooo happy for your wonderful surprise that I teared up a bit! Keep up the great work. It is a process to figure out your new portion size. I still, over two years out, will sometimes take more than I need. Not as much but still too much. I think it's because I feel hungry, so I envision alot of food to satisfy that. I do remember to eat SLOWLY so that once I am full, I don't (most of the time) go past that -
Glad you are keeping your Dr. informed. Sounds like you are doing the right things. I'm sure it won't last, maybe just part of healing? Feel better

40 pounds at 4 months. Normal?
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to LDiGi's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Since your sister is heavier than you, she will lose faster at first. The heavier you are, the higher your resting metabolism. It sounds like you are doing wonderfully, keep up the great work! We are all different. While I know it is frustrating when someone, especially someone close, seems to lose faster, you just need to focus on you. Compare yourself to where you were 4 months ago, be proud of how far you've come! -
#1- Are you on Prilosec or another similar med? #2-is it possible that you are taking in too much and/or too quickly? #3-are you using a straw? that can cause gas.

being "perfect"
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to girliegirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Protein prevents your body from going into starvation mode and slowing your metabolism, it does help you feel full longer, lessens hair loss, promotes lean muscle so that you burn more calories, etc..... -

I would just remind you, that while your stomach is tiny, it is easier to learn new ways to prepare your food and make healthier choices. Your stomach will be much bigger a year or two after surgery and weight CAN be regained if you are eating the way you did pre-sleeve. Slider foods and trigger foods should be avoided. You will crave them less, the more you stay away from them. There are many sites that can show you recipes for your favorite foods that will satisfy the taste you desire, while still sticking with the plan. For example: I enjoy fried 'rice' made with cauliflower, Protein pancakes, muffins and Cookies made with Protein powder, pizza crust made out of cauliflower, cheesy 'tater' tots made out of cauliflower, salad that has all the flavor of an Italian sub, eggplant, zucchini, or spaghetti squash for Pasta, cannoli cream made with FF ricotta, etc......... -

TheRealMeIsHere! replied to mom2five's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
great job!! You look YEARS younger, too! -
I am two years post op and have maintained my goal weight for over a year. Around 18 months out, I could suddenly eat more. Prior, I could only eat 1/4-1/3 cup of food at one time. As of 18 months I could do 1/2-1 cup, depending on the food. salad, on the other hand, I can eat 2-3 cups at a time. Am I stretching my sleeve? Wouldn't I know if I was pushing the envelope?

Making my workout more interesting/challenging
TheRealMeIsHere! posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been going to the gym for a year and really used to enjoy the challenge of my workout and the 'high' afterwards. Now, due to longstanding disabilities, I have progressed as far as I can. My workout is VERY routine and boring, now. I am limited in the types of movements that I can do. I cannot do a lot of movement of my upper arms, due to stenosis, bone spurs and spondylitis in my neck. My knees each have different issues, one is weak and unstable, due to un-healed ligaments, the other has chondromalacia patella and cannot bend more than 30 degrees. Both ankles have PTTD. I wear two smo's all of my waking hours for the ankle problems and knee braces for each knee, while doing the treadmill. The recumbant bike causes SEVERE coccyx pain, due to ankylosing spondylitis. The elliptical, causes the PTTD to flair up. I had to wear a walking 'boot' for three months, due to a recent flair up of PTTD. Despite all this, I am VERY high energy and active. At the gym, I do the same thing EVERY day!! 40 minutes on the treadmill, which I go as fast as I am capable (3 mph) and the incline as high as I can (8-10%) The weight machines, I have increased the weight as much as I can, don't have time for more reps. Any ideas on how I can make it more challenging?? -
