For Thoses With A Surgery Date.....
yvonne74 replied to kr8160311's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Amy, It took several days for my swelling to go down. It was pretty close to a week for me. Glad the surgery went well. Keep up on the gas-x for the pain. My gas pain was in my neck the whole time! -

Ok I stink at making usernames :-p So on My fitness pal, I am weightloss_dreamer -
Hi Ky, I'm glad you came for support. Sounds like you have your plate full with life. Are you in couseling for your PTSD? No need to go at this alone. I know I was told that stress will make the band tighter and it sounds like you are under a lot of stress. You need to take care of yourself and I think you have made the step in the right direction. Wish I lived close by and I could help out. *hugs*

Yes, she was rude. Nothing I said was right even though its what our "book" said.. If I said I ate chicken salad, she would tell me that I need to eat tuna salad.. I said I didn't like eggs but insists that I need to eat them anyways..She says to eat until your full no matter what amount it is. She thinks if the band is working any amount of food is healthy as long as you eat less than you did before surgery. The Dr says no more than 1/2 cup at one meal. According to my dietician, we should be eating 60-80 grams of Protein a day. But she prefers the high side (80grams) of protein.

I just joined My fitness pal yesterday. I am really hoping I can remember to keep up with the food diary on that site.. However, I wasn't told to count calories only protein but wanting to make sure my dietician can't be rude again.

haute904 : My gas pain stuck around forever! Ugh!! How are you doing with your meals? Feeling full and getting your water in?? -
Gosh, I miss a day and so much goes on! I had my first post-op appt and my 2nd nutritionist appt yesterday. I wanted to strangle the dietician. I have been following the book they gave me on what to eat but she wasn't satisfied with that. According to her, I should have been eating (this week) more solids and all but according to my book, I wasn't suppose to start solids until Sunday. Nothing I said was right, I said canned chicken (to make chicken salad) she would say canned tuna. She kept asking me about eating eggs and I told her over and over that I do not like eggs. However, she kept saying I need to eat eggs. Ugh, can we say she didn't listen?? My Dr appt was some better. He has the bedside manners of a mule. However, he did give me a fill b/c I said I was starving this week. He insists we only eat 1/2 a cup of food. The dietician insists we eat until we are full (whether thats 1 cup-10 cups, to her it doesnt' matter). So I've tried full solids today and been successful so far.

I am taking Centrum chewable and Calcium chewables.

I meet with the dietician and surgeon tomorrow for the 1st time after surgery. I am holding still at 12 pounds (according to my scales) from surgery day. I am hoping I get a fill but have a feeling I won't get one until 6 wks out. Today was a little better, I tried to drink more today in between my meals but this evening it has caught up to me. Thinking about going to bed early just so I won't be tempted with the kitchen. How sad is that!

Niki823, I say go for it! You have done so much to get here. Do this for you! Sorry about the job! Did you see this coming? *hugs*

Lots of people getting banded this week!! Good Luck! Today is Day 12 post-op and yesterday was the first day that I can say I was hungry! I don't know what was wrong with me but I wanted to eat everything. I really had to put a muzzle on it last night. Hope today is better. I go to my first post-op appt tomorrow. Will he do a fill only 2 wks out? Or will he wait until my 6 wk appt?

Oh, I don't know. My dr never told me anything about chewing gum.

Congratulations!! Good luck with the new you!!

I have PCOS and was banded March 9 (2012). In order to get pregnant, I was on 2000mg of Metformin and would only get my cycle with medical intervention. However, the past two years, I would go several months without a period and then one day (with no warning) I would have a period for months. And when I would get the period for months it was so heavy, I would become anemic. (aka using up a heavy duty overnight pad every 10 minutes). I am currently on jolvinette b/c they gave me a high dose of BC to stop the bleeding and it caused blood clots in my legs and phlebitis as well.

I've been doing Water aerobics since January and LOVE IT!! However, I got banded on the 9th and not allowed in the water yet I can't wait to get back in. At first, I was so worried about how the other people would see me. (I go to a pool at the gym on a Military Base so most that go there are in shape). But I have found people to be kind and most aren't even found interested in what I am doing since they are busy working out themselves. Good luck! GO! Just dive right in!
-
Della, Did he say why? Explain to him how you feel. This is something you need to do for you!

I went back today (was banded the 9th) and I feel like I have done a million sit ups. I do a lot of bending, standing, getting up/down/walking.. Ugh, I'm tired Despite the pain, I feel like I am a million bucks! I am just loving having the band. Ok, call me crazy but I feel like I am starting to be normal.. Before, I was never feeling full, always hungry but now I fill up so fast! Good luck to all the ones getting banded!!

My Dr defined mushies as anything you can mash with a fork or put in a blender to puree. My mushies are mashed potatoes, refried beans with melted cheese, pudding and greek yogurt... (Those are the only things I have tried so far. I am allowed grits, cream O wheat, cottage cheese, etc but I do not like them )
