I had my lapband on 12/28. I have had 2 tries at being filled. My doctor thinks my port flipped too, I get a flouro next week to see. I can feel your frustration. I had a hematoma post op, he thinks that had something to do with it. I am frustrated too. Hungry all the time and stress at work has had me eating like a pig. I heard that to flip it is an easy procedure, but I really don't have the time to be off work, working in healthcare puts the patient' s bedrails right at port level. Ugh, aggravated! I was so hoping that I would be well into my weight loss journey, instead I keep hitting roadblocks.

Talking about ports, I have attempted to have 2 fills without success. Doctor thinks the port possibly flipped from the hematoma I had. Has anyone had that issue? I get a flouro next week to see.

Mine came on day 6. The gas lasted a week. Water, water, water. My surgery was 12 days ago. Now I go every day, several times a day.

I had the lapband on 12/29/11. 12 hours post op I got a hematoma at my port site, it was ugly. Today the site is bleeding black old blood and feels warm. The doctor wasn't concerned about the blood, but I am concerned about the warmth which is new. Anyone else have this happen?

i'm going to call the doctor tomorrow. I work in healthcare and am around germs all the time, although I haven't worked since the surgery, I still worry about an infection.

Wow, good to know I am not alone. Mine started oozing black bloody drainage today. I saw the doctor today and he didn't seem too concerned, he said it would stop in time. The site now feels warm, so I am going to call him again tomorrow to see if he will prescribe some antibiotics. Thanks for answering.

Hello, I was banded on 12/29/11. My surgery included a hernia repair. My post op was not without complications. I vagaled down, which means my heart rate dropped. It dropped into the 30's, probably a combination of anesthesia and my blood pressure meds. I got up to walk and within an hour developed a hematoma at my port site. Ugh, My stomach looks like Bella's on Breaking Dawn! Everything is slowly returning to normal, though. I have had issues with the post op diet, of course I have tried to eat things I knew I shouldn't. Today, I am returning to liquids and trying to be good. Luckily, I haven't gained any weight back but the loss is much slower than I would like. I am 51 years old and from the south. Old habits die hard, but I am trying. I wish everyone good luck and am looking forward to a much healthier future.

Tightness In Chest While Eating
GA_lady replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietitian warned me of this. It is spasms. Take some liquid benadryl. One of my friends had the same thing and the benadryl worked instantly. Good luck on your journey. -
Have you had the lapband? If so, go to the doctor and get a fill, a pep talk and most of all, get out. Think about how proud your dad would be to see a healthier daughter. Start walking, heck if it's cold go to the local WalMart and walk for 2 hours or a mall. You don't have to go in the stores, just walk. Computers are so very addictive, I have found myself post op this past week more on it than off it. I have to get moving too, I did walk Walmart for 2 hours yesterday, I am sore, but feel pretty good about it. Today I am walking the park, it's in the 70's here in GA. But that is my goal. Set some small steps, track your journey, but stay away from bad influences. I am 51, I have set myself up for failure so many times it's ridiculous. I wish you much luck Breana.

Failing And I Need Support
GA_lady replied to Laleo12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, I am new to the lapband but certainly understand. Do you have a lapband support group in your community? If so, you really need to go and connect. Second, if you hate your job so, perhaps you need to explore what sort of teaching you really like? Did you like History or Lit in college? If so, perhaps you can find a job teaching to college or technical students. Many of them are older and certainly more appreciative of a teacher who loves what they teach? If not, explore your feelings, find out what you really want to do the rest of your life. I am 1 week post op. I haven't had a fill yet. I am supposed to be on full liquids, which of course I have tried not to violate, but my little self destructive part of me has eaten regular food, some successfully and some (corn dog) not so successfully. The main thing is, know that there are others that need help too. We are all in this together and we want to be healthier. Get with the support group, make new friends and allies. I wish you the best, know that you are not alone. Make yourself proud girl! Then the rest will follow.
