Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
bbbanded replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm down 114 so far. About 50 to go! -
I think in the beginning I would just not eat for the rest of the day. Now if I get stuck I'll just let it run it's course, when it's over I stop eating, and later on, I'll eat again. Maybe, usually I don't eat much of anything anyway. You're not moving too fast though.

I grew up drinking during meals, early on, when I got the band, I tried forcing food down at Applebees by drinking, gigantic mistake, and now I drink before I eat then wait the suggested 30 minutes. Nothing less, sometimes I forget when I last ate so I'll wait 30 minutes from when I feel thirsty, for safety's sake.

How do you know when your stuck?

In the dead center of your chest it feels like theres a ball sitting there. You hesitate breathing momentarily. You try to swallow, no budge. If it's the first time it may seem like a pill that went down too dry so you think downing a bit of liquid will help NO. It's scary, the wait for the food to go down sucks, once that wait gets too long you think of other options. The only other real one is to bring back up what you can. For me if I don't end up bringing it back I know it's over when I can burp again. To answer your question generally yes that's where you'll feel it. -
I just turned 20 on July 2nd and was diagnosed with ms on July 10th. After a bit of research I see there are a few types, I'm not quite sure what kind I have just yet so I can't say. I have to schedule an appointment for a second opinion, but my neurologist is pretty certain. Needless to say I'm pretty devastated that I got MS for my 20th birthday but being devastated won't make it go away. Any words of advice?

I've only had the MRI's. He said I likely didn't need the spinal tap because of all of the results from the MRI's. I went in initially on Monday and came out with a diagnosis by Thursday. He's insisting on me getting a second opinion which I'm fine with. I want so badly to believe it's some kind of vitamin deficiency or lyme disease. As much as I believe a spinal tap will hurt, I'd rather have it to be sure.

That shedding 100 pounds wouldn't make me feel good. Once the glory of fitting into size 14 jeans and large tops wears off there is really nothing to be happy about. I was just as healthy, if not more considering before there were no foreign objects in my abdomen and no slits on my torso, as I am now, but my brain feels exactly the same. I used to cry because I thought being thinnER would make me so happy, and would change everything, when in reality the only thing is changed is what I'm crying about. Now I cry because I did so much to get here and my heart and my brain both ache just the same. Take a look a look under that silver lining.

Who was the toughest person you decided to tell about getting the band?

I think it's a tie between my boyfriend and my best friends. With my best friends, I was laughing a lot and had to hold my stomach, this was maybe two weeks after surgery so I was still quite tight and uncomfortable. They asked if I was pregnant so I had to come clean. As for my boyfriend I was FaceTiming him and told him I had to show him something, then I flashed him my bandaged belly, his head could have literally turned into a question mark and I wouldn't have blinked haha, but that was over a year ago and all is good now. -
To sip or not to sip, that is the question

I was actually told no straws, and no gum for that matter, I guess I forgot those rules but you should be fine, I've never had a problem. -
Anyone know how to get rid of or at least shrink the arms? I don't mind gaining muscle so long as these wings go away! Without surgery please

I had surgery on Friday, was back in the office by Monday. Only a little sluggish walking from car to desk but thats about it. -
they warned me that once I had the surgery I'd pick up a new "addiction" I've spent a good $600 on clothes alone since January

I'm planning on going to six flags in two weeks for the last day of frightfest. At this point I'm 5'6 1/2 and roughly 260 give or take a pound, and nervous as all get out. The last time I went to six flags I was in the 8th grade and I know for a fact that I was 260 at that time as well, I just dont remember how tall I was, but I fit just fine in everything. I'm not top heavy I'm barely a "C" cup anymore. And, I know most of the rides are shoulder restraints I'm more concerned about the lap restraints. So has anyone been to any parks since and been able to fit or not fit? My mom says I'm fine and my unlce who is about 6'1 and about 270 has always been able to fit, but I'm still super nervous now.

I think 4 weeks might be a while for any job. My surgery was on a Friday, I went back to work on the Monday. I'm a receptionist though, so aside from minor lifting daily, I'm sitting most of the day.
