  1. Hey Fx, I was banded in 2006. I had success for the first year but then I had several slips, terrible heartburn, acid reflux, you name it. I suffered for several years trying small fills, no fills and then had an upper GI. They discovered a hiatal hernia, more band slippage and inflamation. I was done. My band was removed on October 4. The insurance nurse, (for lack of a better way to discribe her) got a denial for a sleeve revision. My BMI is 31 and they require a 37 with 2 co-morbidities or a BMI of 40 with none. I have arthritis but nothing else. So...there I stand. I am forced to do yet another diet that I know will not work. I've been trying that route my whole adult life. Not to be a negative ninny but I can't deal with another failure. It's very depressing
  2. I am having this problem with my insurance too but I have CIGNA. I don't want to go through a 6 month long doctor supervised weight loss plan but it looks like I have no choice. I feel out of control right now with my eating.

    Shakeology

Angel Rae, have you tried Unjury? Those are the only ones I can stand. I haven't tried Shakeology. Have your friend give you a few samples and let us know if you like them.

Having A Hard Time After Surgery

Katie, I can totally relate to what you're going through. Had my band removed and I'm 5 days post-op. I'm feeling very much like you are. Not much physical pain but emotionally not doing so well. Lots of questions rolling around in my head. Trying to keep the negative self talk from getting to me. It's comforting to know I'm not alone. I will try to do some of the things Emfele suggests. Hopefully, that will help. Thanks.
  5. Hi Linda, I am having my lap band removed and my hernia repaired. They want me to wait at least 4 months before a revision. But my band slipped several times and I am completely unfilled and am having problems. I wonder if they aren't asking you to wait because you haven't slipped?
  6. I think all of us lap band "failures" (for lack of a better word) have the same fear. After we have the band removed will we gain back the weight and then some and be completely miserable? I loved my band until it gave me trouble. I suffer from terrible reflux, heartburn, waking up coughing, sick all the time. I have gained back most of my weight since I've had all my Fluid removed from it. I have tried to discipline myself by dieting and portion control to no avail. Today, I meet with the doctor to set up a date for removal and hernia repair. The question is, do I give it a go on my own or do I revise with a sleeve? I have read lots on this forum and the lap band forum. Everyone seems to have a strong opinion for and against the sleeve. Since I have to wait at least 6 months between having the band out and a revision, I have a lot of research and thinking to do. I will also be testing myself to see if I can go this weight loss thing with no help surgically. Very fearful since I have not been able to do this in the past
  7. So glad I saw your post! I too have had medical issues and will be having my band removed soon. I am scared to death to gain more weight. I have already had several unfills over the past year to see if my symptoms were relieved. Although I have gotten better, I will still have to have the band removed for my complete recovery. In this past year, I have put back on 40 of the 60 lbs I had lost after the my lap band operation. I plan to follow you closely to see your progress Thank you so much for being so candid about your situation. It certainly gives me hope.
