Read At Your Own Risk...it's About Bms
SexySlim posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have never been considered "regular" pre-op. I'm almost 6 weeks out. I was going pretty regularly until last Saturday I ate something that gave me diarrhea. I hadn't been since then (yesterday was a week). So I took a laxative last night and just went. My BMs had like white fatty stuff around them, kinda looks like raw chicken skin. WTF is it? Should I be worried? Help! -
Read At Your Own Risk...it's About Bms
SexySlim replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it had been a week and I've been eating solid foods. I was just concerned so I took the laxative. Pre-op I would at least go once a week or I could eat a big meal to get things moving. I can't do that anymore. My colon has always been weird. My pediatrician had me on laxative drinks and enemas when I was little. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Ok, thanks for that info. I suppose it was fat, it looked like a cross between fat and mucous. I took the stimulant laxitive with senna. I might look into taking other types if I get backed up again. -
Sigh..i Really Miss Using A Straw!
SexySlim replied to Piplula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tried using one this morning for the first time. I'm 5 weeks out. I knew I needed more protein. I drank a Premiere shake, it took about an hour but I had no problems. I couldn't stand drinking it without a straw. -
The Dollar Tree is also a good place to check. I got some 1 oz containers, 10 for $1. Can't beat that!

Ok, so I feel like this is too good to be true. I've never been hospitalized or had surgery. I can't really say anything bad about Florence Hospital, I'm just glad to be outta there! I felt like a prisoner with no fresh air. I'm at the hotel Lucerna now. It's lovely. I have not experienced any pain, I feel like doing cartwheels right now. I only had nausea the night of my surgery, and a little incision pain. Of course I have a little pain if I bend down, but I seriously don't feel like I've had surgery. The only real pain I ever experienced is when I got my tattoo right over my right rib cage 2 years ago. This surgery was NOTHING compared to that. We checked in to the hotel after my leak test. Had a free popsicle. Then we walked around to the Starbucks and this pharmacy. There is a huge traffic circle in front of the hotel and they drive crazy over here, but we got across. I'm actually leaving a day early. I told Dr. Kelly I feel great, he said he's giving me the green light to travel back to MD tomorrow. I'm so excited to start my new life!!!!

Medical Expenses (In Mexico) Tax Deductable?

Yes. I do. I still make too much to write anything off. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Medical Expenses (In Mexico) Tax Deductable?
SexySlim replied to NJsharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my accountant this same question in February. He told me that you can only write off the amount that exceeds 7.5% of your income. Apparently a lot of people took advantage of this rule and they changed it recently. I make a lot of money, so I can't write it off, but it's still the best money I've ever spent! Good luck! -
Week 4 Weigh In (One Month Postop)
SexySlim commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
Well today was my weigh-in. I'm down 4.4 additional pounds. So I'm not too thrilled about that but I have lost a lot of inches. I don't measure, but I can just tell by looking at my body and how my clothes are fitting. I'm probably on a stall too while my body catches up to the weight loss. I'm ready to start working out now, my energy level is good. Keep up the good work! -
Topamax is the worst! I was seeing a psychologist and I gained weight on Lexapro and Abilify and he gave me Topamax and told me to just eat fruit all day and one meal at night. WTF. I think I was only on it for one month and felt soooo stupid. I heard it's also called Dope-amax. In my line of work I can't afford to be that stupid. So I tapered off and never looked back. After the majority of my life struggling with weight and pills, I never want to take another "weight loss" pill again. So glad I'm sleeved!

Week 4 Weigh In (One Month Postop)
SexySlim commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
Hey sleeve sis, I missed reading your blogs. I missed 2 weighins so I can't wait until tomorrow Let's see, while I was away, I brought protein shakes home but was soooo sick of them. I moved to creamy soups and blended food about 4 days early. I pushed the limit with "soft" foods and ate 3 bites of lasagna and threw it up out my mouth and nose. Yuck! And I tried Mexican food and it literally went straight through me. So I've been eating all safe foods since, just plain meats, cheeses, yogurts, soups. I did have slivers of cakes and half cupcakes while I was home, and didn't get sick. My mom noticed the two weeks while I was home that I'm slimming down. Yesterday was my first day back at work and my size 20 slacks were falling off me! I haven't exercised yet, but plan to get back on my Biggest Loser for the Wii next week. I still can't believe how full I get off of such small portions. I love it! -
So I'm almost three weeks post-op. I'm in my hometown to visit my dad for the week. He has stage 4 cancer. We had to get him an ambulance to come to the house last night to get him to the ER. He is now in icu. Pre-sleeve me would be stuffing my face with all the food available at all of these restaurants in a 1 mile radius. I'm enjoying some KFC mashed potatoes instead. No more emotional eating for me thanks to my new sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using VST

My dad was so happy to hear I decides to get surgery. He knew that I have struggled with this battle all of my life. I just wish he was around to see when I get to goal. I know he would be so happy for me. Sent from my iPhone using VST

My father passed yesterday evening. We all knew it was time and he was tired of fighting. He suffered a great deal. It's funny I used to be a stress eater. Now no appetite at all. I will try to get as much Protein as I can. And Water. Sent from my iPhone using VST

MMMMM I love Famous Dave's. I didn't get to hit them up before my surgery. Anyhoo, my last dinner I went to Magianno's with one of my friends who is also in her phases of getting sleeved by her insurance. I had my favorite Lasagna and a margarita on the rocks. And I had a cookie for dessert. I was stuffed, I couldn't even finish my entre

Washington Dc Challenge At 2 Weeks Out
SexySlim commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
Hey so I don't feel as bad advancing to the mushy stage either. I am home in NC for a week, I brought my Nectar protein and have been drinking milk for breakfast, but yesterday I couldn't take anymore! I got some baked potato soup from panera and blended it in my mom's magic bullet. It was soooo good and I can tell I instantly had an increase in energy from the carbs. I had been feeling lethargic. I also too read other peoples' diets and they had mushies early on, so I didn't feel so bad trying it. I admit I did eat it a little too fast because I got that tightness in my chest for about a minute. I'm skipping my weigh-in this week as well since I'm home. I asked my friend would it be too OCD of me to bring my scale with me and she said yes Thanks for the update! Glad you enjoyed DC! -
New Here! Just Want Wanted Your Thoughts!
SexySlim replied to Piplula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes. I had the same doubts and fears that everyone else had. But I've lost 24 lbs which includes 10 during my pre-op diet. I have never lost like that before and I have been on every diet you can think of. The sleeve works! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
So I have the RTD shakes from costco. Pre-op they were a breeze to get down because I drank them through a straw. Now I'm post-op and I pour them in a cup. They are so thick and clumpy it grosses me out and I can't get them down. They have like these big white flakes in them. Is this normal or did I get a bad batch? Sent from my iPhone using VST

Question About Premiere Shakes
SexySlim replied to SexySlim's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Well I guess they are not really clumpy. I used to drink them out of a straw. But when I pour them into a cup it does not come out smooth and I can see little flakes. It grosses me out. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Question About Premiere Shakes
SexySlim replied to SexySlim's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The shakes I was referring to are ready to drink from costco. They just were harder to tolerate for me post-op. I just settled on some nectar mixed with Water. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Why Can't I Do This On My Own?
SexySlim replied to Vicki0618's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone the other day posted an article called The Fat Trap. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/01/magazine/tara-parker-pope-fat-trap.html?pagewanted=all Very interesting. -
\Wow this is to interesting. My nose was running uncontrollably yesterday. I had no idea it was a sign of fullness. I only had a few sips of broth though. Weird. I also get the hiccups, but it's just random at random times. Not when I'm eating. And it will only last about 2 minutes.

Ok I'm a little jealous. You got to eat chips and salsa the night before your surgery? I had Water Anyhoo your story is similar to mine. I had a wonderful experience. I love Dr. Kelly. Down 14 lbs in 2 weeks. 24 lbs including two week pre-op diet. Sent from my iPhone using VST
