Which Dr's Do Staple And Suture?
SexySlim replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Kelly uses staples and sutures. -
People please do your research. The surgeon that invented the lapband practices in Mexico and so does a surgeon that was named one if the top 25 bariatric surgeons in the WORLD. So just thinking US surgeons are the gold standard is hog wash.

So I have been big all my life and don't ever remember weighing under 200 lbs. I'm a big girl I'm 5'11". So I know I want to be able to fit a regular size 14 in jeans and slacks. I already bought some goal size 14 dresses and they fit, just not comfortably. I originally set my goal weight at 190 but I don't know what size that is for me. So my goal is size 14. Anyone else?

1) doesn't have insurance 2) has insurance but don't want to do the 3 or 6 month diet and requirements 3) want to be sleeved by a Mexican surgeon with more experience than a US surgeon 4) self-pay is cheaper than the US self-pay 5) hospital stay is longer 6) doesn't meet US insurance requirements (BMI and/or comorbidities)

Scar Removal Products...?
SexySlim replied to TinaMari's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have luck with Mederma. I'm using Scarguard. It was $30 at Target, I can tell that my scars have really flattened out. I've used about half the bottle so far. -

Anyone Else Have A Goal Size?
SexySlim replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have a question that is up for discussion. If the sleeve is supposed to help us get to the weight our bodies are supposed to be, how does it know for people like me that have been overweight since childhood? I was a normal weight baby. I think I was overweight starting in second grade. I see a lot of people that post on here they would love to be their high school or pre-baby weight. Well I weighed 200 lbs and haven't had any babies yet. I'm just curious. -
Anyone Else Have A Goal Size?
SexySlim replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah sizes are crazy! I'm really hippy so I always have the gap in the waist. I can fit a 14 dress but barely zip up a 18 pencil skirt. And let's talk about frame sizes. According to my wrist size I have a small frame. I find that hard to accept and laughable. I guess I've just always carried a lotta weight on this small frame. I weighed 90 lbs in 2nd grade! And speaking of shopping, I am soooo happy I can shop on the regular side. My top has always been smaller so I was already in a regular XL. I can wear L now. I have turned into a little online shopping addict. Help me! -
So I'm near DC and things aren't looking good. Both Lowes and Home Depot are sold out of generators. I am not looking forward to losing my food. They are telling us to prepare for 10 days without power. Anyone have any ideas for protein? I'm not looking forward to drinking warm muscle milk.
-
Soooo I got a generator!!! I got really lucky. I went to lowes at 6 am and they still didn't have any. This one lady called Home Depot and they had a few left they said come now! So I got one. I'm so glad I have gas so I can still cook and take hot showers.

Protein powder by Syntrax. They are fruity flavors and you mix them in Water or crystal lite. I have the fruit punch one. Forgot the name of the flavor. It's blue. If you can get past the smell, it tastes really good. They sell sample packs too with all the flavors.

What's Your New Addiction?
SexySlim replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely online shopping -
Thanks everyone. I think I will get some canned chicken don't think I can do plain tuna without gagging. I do have a tub of Nectar left. I had to stop drinking it because I drank so much right after surgery I got tired of it. And I think I will grab some bars. I just hope this storm isn't as bad as they are predicting.

Week 30 (Vanilla Protein Powder - Still Don't Like It)
SexySlim commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
Good job on the loss. I'm down 4 lbs this week. I really had to get back to basics with only protein, fruits, and veggies. It's hard but I'm only 32 lbs away from goal. I'm actually wearing a size 16 denim slacks at work today, they are very fitting, but hey I got my booty in them It is true that working your legs burns more calories. They are bigger muscles and require more energy to move them, plus they are supporting your whole body weight, hence more calories burned. I really need to get back into doing squats and lunges. I don't want to lose my booty. As far as protein powders, I was never a fan of vanilla either, unless I mixed fruit or peanut butter (or oreo cookies) in it. I just ordered a sample pack of Chike shakes last week. They are meal replacement shakes so they have some carbs, but also vitamins and minerals. Just from what I've read about them here and on Obesity Help, they taste just like a milkshake and have no grit or after taste. They also have an iced protein coffee. I'm not a coffee fan but I'm still going to try it. The other flavors are chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, banana, and orange (I've heard it tastes like a creamsicle). I will let you know how they are after I try them. They have excellent customer service too. They shipped a few hours after I ordered them and they called me to see how I heard about them and if I like them. It's 28 g of protein/serving and that's if it's mixed with water. I plan on mixing mine with milk. -
Hunger Headaches After Vsg
SexySlim replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I would get really bad headaches for a few days after I would start a diet (pre-op). I think it's from dropping carbs and sugar and your body detoxing. I think after you are sleeved you won't have them anymore. I also agree detox on the sugar and caffeine early on so the transition to a sleeved diet will be much easier. -
That is great news! So happy for you! That is awesome that you inspire him to eat better. He will probably drop those 40 lbs in no time. You know how those men are with their easy weight loss lol!

I'm New. I've Already Learned So Much From All Of You!
SexySlim replied to funinthesun00's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and good luck with your surgery. I think this surgery will be perfect for you. I also have been big all of my life and could never maintain any weight loss. The lowest I got was 202 in grad school and I was there maybe a whole week. I played tennis in high school and got smaller (I wouldn't say thin, I have never been thin). I'm not sure what I weighed though. I also like to eat healthy and workout but could never get under 200 lbs. This surgery is the best thing I have EVER done for myself! I also went to Mexico. I'm only 23 lbs. from ONEderland now. The fact that I know it's obtainable and I will be able to maintain the loss makes me so happy. -
12 Months And 75 Lbs Zoomed By So Quickly!
SexySlim commented on Sleevie WonderLand's blog entry in KayyyBeee's Blog
Awesome! Congratulations! I definitely have to use your comeback "why didn't you tell me not to gain any more weight when I was fat? Surely I looked sick then?" My mom already told me I looked sick when I got down to 210. My goal for myself is 190. Keep rockin' that sleeve girl! -
Taking the meds with or without food should be indicated on the label. Food affects the absorption of some medicines. For some it does not matter, it all depends on the medicine. Meds that are designed to release slowly are delayed/controlled release or pills that can be taken once a day and release slowly through out the day. I did ask my surgeon if the sleeve affects the pharmacokinetics of drugs, he said no. But honestly I don't think there is any research out there to back any claims. I would be interested to see some studies on this.

Had My First Nsv Moment Followed By Wth
SexySlim replied to grayeybeauty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! If he can't handle the new and improved happier you, then he doesn't deserve you! Hope he comes around and realizes that. -
I agree with ToddG. We get really comfortable eating what we want and losing the weight really fast in the beginning. I dropped my first 48 lbs effortlessly in the first 4 months. I've been up and down the same few lbs for 3 months, but I have lost inches. Just this week I went back to basics and tightened up my diet. I'm only sticking to protein shakes, chicken, fish, veggies, and some fruits. The last few lbs will be slow to get off and we have to work for them! Good luck don't give up!

So I thought I had seen it all! There is a doctor in Florida that puts a feeding tube in your nose and you pump nutrients into it 24 hours/day. You induce ketosis by getting 800 calories/day. I think I'm happy with my sleeve thanks lol!
-
It's HCG and yes men do it. You won't get boobs. Level is about one millionth of what a pregnant woman excretes everyday. I did it in 2009. Lost 40 lbs and kept it off for a year. Glad I'm sleeved now!

Yeah these people walk around with a tube hanging out of their nose and have to carry around the bag of fluids all day. Geez!
