My surgeon had the surgery himself and drinks soda - personally I can't tolerate it

Had my second fill this week. I feel a restriction again! So glad. I think I still eat too much and make some bad choices but I am getting there. Instead of 2 sausage burrittos and and egg mcmuffin I can only eat one burritto now. That is huge to me! Now if I would just boil some eggs and have one of those instead I would be doing better. Stress at work is better too. One of the hospitalists went to my boss and was very upset about how I was treated. The other hospitalist told me yesterday he is glad I am still there. That was very sweet. I realize that my bosses problem with me was personal - she said nothing negative about my nursing skills. So that's good. I really have figured out I am fine with the person I am. Just need to steer clear of conflict when possible which means some weaker people are going to have to fight their own battles. Might be good for them too. On the strange side. I have a patient this week who is going through terrible DTs from his alcohol withdrawals. Its been both and emotional and physical battle. He is very funny - but also very motivated to escape and drink. He actually punched me in the stomach. That won him 4 point restraints. I hate restraining people. Ok but the strange part is that while talking to him and trying to redirect him I discovered who his mother....as it turns out he is the brother of the man who broke..destroyed my heart 25 years ago. We aren't in the same city! Missouri is a small state eh? I haven't had his brother call about him yet but that would be so surreal and stressful! But also kinda funny. My life is so good now with my husband!

Fell Off The "band Wagon" After One Year, But Getting Back On! Any Help?
SueQueRN replied to hokiemama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, I haven't done that...yet...but my surgeon did. He had the surgery and did just what you did. He finally had a change in mindset and went to very low carb because carbs trigger him to over eat. He has lost so much weight since then is a huge inspriation! I hope this works for you...I know I am at the same risk! S -
Ahh - sounds like sabatoge. I would pay the price and go though. Its a birthday - now if it were just any old day forget it. You might ask - and see if the buffett will let you pay a children's or "one plate" price. Odd though that people who have been in our shoes sabatoge us. My step-daughter, who had the surgery too gave me a bag of hersey's kisses at christmas. Says "these will slide through" What the heck? Luckily sweets aren't my problem...still have the full bad.

Anxiety Over Liver Being To Large

No worries...even when I was thin I had a fatty liver - but the doc had no problems -
How Fast Will I Lose?
SueQueRN replied to Angela1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course the rate of weight loss is different for everyone. My doc expect 1.5 to 2 lbs a week and I am right at that. It isn't dramatic but its steady and I am happy. At this rate its 100 lbs in a year and that is amazing! A lot of people say they had trouble with the liquid diet - I did not. I also didn't lose any weight before the liquid diet - mostly because my BMI was 35.1 and I was scared if I lost any I wouldn't qualify anymore! Good luck - I love my band -
I did! Before the liquid diet I went to my favorite restaurant and ordered all of my favorite things and ate every bit of it. The good new is last night I went to the same restaurant and ordered the same things and was satisfied with eating PART of it and putting the rest in a box which is still in the fridge. The band rocks!

Yes, things have been mighty stressful lately. First, and foremost, my 55 year old sister unexpectadly died on Dec 21, 2011. I had my band place Dec 30th. A couple of days ago I was brought into the director of nursings office by my boss and given a "final warning" that if I didn't improve my personality I would be fired. I have been at this hospital for 8 years and thought I was well liked. Apparantly she was angry with me for calling her out at a meeting (she isn't doing her job and is relying on me and another nurse to run the unit) I left that work that day in tears. My husband took me to lunch and told me that whatever I wanted to do was ok with him. I felt a band victory when I thought "well here is a good excuse to eat a pint of ice cream" and then thought ...."No - I don't really need or want that" That's a first! My band is still so new but helping me make the right decisions already! Also on the bright side, I have gotten a ton of support from my co-workers who really do love me. Such terrific people. Today I got a text that one of the hospitalists went to my boss to stick up for me and tell her the other hospitalist felt the same way. I still don't think I can continue in this job - that I love! But having their support means so much.

Great to hear!

OK sooo not a problem but...I got my first fill last week. Until then I felt no restriction. After that I still don't "feel" a restriction but I stop eating much sooner then normal. I easily go between meals until I am really hungry. I don't have to chew my food to death to keep it down and I can eat anything. Is this strange for a first fill? Is it just a honeymoon? If this is it then this is great!

Great to hear...I am going for my first fill today too - hope it help! and, lol I ate aa hole plate of Nachos from Taco Bell last night!

ah - a great opening line.."not to be rude" Like when people say "I'm not prejudice, but...." That was rude. I do believe she is trying to see if the surgery is even an option - hence the question!

Can you talk to the group's facilitator about it?
