    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

You really haven't put in enough water to compensate for the 4oz a day that you were doing. Sip & drink all day & hopefully you'll start to feel better real soon. Glad you got in there for them to remove some of the fluid. Call that doctor again to get to the bottom of it or at least assure you that you are on the right track & it will just take alittle longer. Let us know.

    Lower Right Stomach Pain

Stomach still has some sharp pains but doesn't seem as intense as yesterday.I self ruled out a appendix problem based on some of the issues that I did not have. Went down to Walgreens last night & picked up Gas-X , milk of Magnesium, and a light stool softner. I'm sure I am full of gas & need to expel any which way I can! Thank you all for your answers to this issue that still is pending alitte bit. Need more water I think too.

    Finally!

I have been overweight for the majority of my life but I do remember what being thin felt & looked like. I now know that I want health for the second part of my life and to wrap my head around a new & improved person. My insurance company required 8 wks of a dr monitored diet which in the end because of a minimum bmi I didn't lose anything. Have some health issues & if I just "diet and exercise" like everyone states I shouldn't need the surgery. So mentally being approved was a strange thought and really up to the time that I had surgery I wanted out of the hospital. Crazy huh? I knew though that I needed to get off the merri go round of diet/not diet cycle. Anyways, arrived at the Surgical Hospital at 9 with husband, had a pre-op room where I was weighed, urine tested for pregnancy, blood drawn when IV was put in, shot in tummy for blood clotting, nausea medicine put into IV too. Surgery was scheduled at 11 but moved to 1:00. Gave me medicine to relax me & then finally into surgery. Woke up in recovery with a really sore throat, sleepy and was up to go to the bathroom. Walked behind my wheelchair to my room and proceded to throw up some nasty Fluid. Not the thing to do after having surgery. Really had a issue with the gas that they balloon your belly with (so that they can see your insides) and the nausea was over the top. I cannot go home till I no longer had nausea and could keep down warm tea. Taken to xray room to drink barium that tasted like the worst cough medicine so that they could see if the fluid was passing down to my stomach. It was, but because the medicine that they use to knock me out was still in me I couldn't go home till 9pm. Really nauseated. I told the doctor about my issues with the anethesia but still had problems. Will walk up & down the hallways to help get rid of the gas in body. Brought Jello, broth, sugar free drink, & Water. Only thing that helped was warm peppermint tea. Take a pillow for your stomach because every bump you will feel. Couldn't take pain medicine that was prescribed because I knew I would just throw up again. So toughing it out was what I had to do. sleeping upright on the corner of the couch because laying down really hurt the stomach & the gas in the shoulders was painful too. It has now been 5 full days since the surgery and I have lost 10 lbs so far but still have pain in my stomach . I have been full pretty much from the moment I wake up and I stay true to drinking full fluids for three full weeks. Protein drinks, coffee, hot tea, juice, water, jello, pudding, broth, all low - fat and sugar free. I have felt that I have a elephant sitting on my chest and burping everytime I stand up and the doctor states that he needs to take some of the fluid out. I am going to rough it till my first visit at 3 weeks for I know that the weight loss will slow down and I'll have to take some fluid out at that time. If living on fluid causes these issues than trying to eat soft food will make me sick for sure. Take one day at a time for we didn't get here overnight. Love & Peace

Totally agree. Dr Simpson did mine on the 29th and I can't imagine trying to consume anything besides liquids at this point. He is great on responding to emails too.

    Lower Burning Abdominal Pain

Hey Jen- I was banded on the 29th & last night had HUGE pressure and pain but on the lower right hand side, really hoping that its not a appendisis for that calls for surgery. Have you googled where the pain is at or left a message for your doctor? I'm not wanting to be a worry wart but it was surgery. Keep us informed & good luck.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

NOT GOOD! Please call or email or doctor right away. Mine told me yesterday that there is no limit on water (not that I want to drink gallons) but 4-6oz is NOT enough. Please let us know what's going on,

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Had my surgery on the 29th, and truly the first four days have not been fun. From the gas pains, shoulder hurting, burping & a elephant sitting on my chest it's been a rough four days. Today I contacted my doctor because of the burping/chest tightness and was told that he needs to take alittle of the fluid out. I'm going to tough it through until the mushies for the weight loss will surely slow down at that time. No way that I can go through soft/regular food with the band this tight if even liquids are giving me a hard time. Three weeks of liquid so I am getting quite use to protein drinks, low fat yogurt, jello, water, pudding, etc. I feel full all the time but I still will drink my fluids so that I do not become weak or sick from lack of fluids. Have taken a week off from work, & have lost 8.5lbs from day of surgery. Remember we can & will win this battle! Peace out.
  11. Totally understand about not telling anyone, I'm doing the same thing. I had surgery on 12-29-11 so i'm on the full liquid diet for 3 weeks. Have you tried Unjury protein drink ? The others are pretty gross, but this brand seems to do the job. That an low fat yogurt. Good luck.
