With that, I'm going to leave the forum now but I wish you all the best, truly. Merry Christmas, and please remember the reason for the season. We should all be being kind to one another in honor of those who can't be here.

Internet bullying is a real issue, just like in person bullying.

Don't bother to post in this thread Nichole, its toxic. Just run before you feel bad about yourself.
-
Wow. Do you realize how angry you are? This is my second post and I'm only posting it because my email box is full of emails letting me know another hateful post has come in. I have seen only this thread and only found this forum this morning. Think about what kind of example your setting. Nobody responds to someone berating them to prove a point. Pointing out the threat is helpful, shame is not. You should be ashamed, I am one new sleeve person who will never come to this board for help or questions for fear of ridicule.

Wow, I'm brand new and this is the first thread I've read. I will never post about a weakness.

Dr. Richard Wilkenfeld - Office staff is TERRIBLE. Find another location.
neekoal replied to NanookGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
You won't have any problems until after your surgery, then you will stop receiving courteous treatment or help. -
Here is my story, I worked through True Results in Houston and ended up with Dr. Wilkenfeld. So I got my band in March, everything was going along fine and I was losing weight, down 35 pounds in 2 months. Feeling good, satisfied, not hungry, nothing out of the ordinary. I went in for my first fill with no problem, although it felt like a cattle call. I started to think I didn't care for the doc but blew it off as a bad day, we all have them, no biggie. Went back for fill #2.............here is where things get hinky. I was FINE until I went there for fill #2 but when he went to fill he could not get the needle in, he stuck me at least 10 times, no dice. At this point it was starting to get painful and the assistant suggests there is a problem, they put me in front of the xray machine w/o needle and I'm told (after much more poking) that my port has flipped. Apparently this is a rarity and they hardly ever see it. Of course, I would be the person this happens to, but OK, its fixable I'm told. Back into surgery I go to have "revision". Fast forward to June, port revision. Fast forward to July, things are starting to get strange, noises howling out of my throat, stomach growling constant, I'm STARVING. When i do eat I get stuck no matter what I eat...but not stuck stuck, just backed up stuck so I get the slime thing going and begin to pant like a dog. Sexy, I know. I begin to not eat so much and resort to only eating soft things for the most part. August - work schedule goes crazy and I begin to have to travel, no time to go back to doctor just learning to live with it. October - I go back to doctor...cattle call again, this time doctor blows me off when I begin to ask questions. Tells me to "read my book" rather than answer. I'm pretty sure I just paid a fee to come in here and therefore should have my questions answered. But I get angry and just think I'll blow him off and get a new doctor. Check that - on to find new doc. Call around and find out in order to even SEE another doctor in this town you have to pay a $300 fee. And that is just to talk to him, I can't justify that because what if I don't like him? I'm not making this mistake again. Go back to doctor and finally have a "semi" conversation with him. I express my displeasure and problems and I tell him...and I quote "it seems it hasn't been the same since you did the port revision, its like it doesn't work now". Response? "They never are, you need to just get the sleeve, they work better". HUH? If they never work the same, why did we do a revision? Shouldn't I have just been told at that time that they don't work? And why don't they work after revision? Is anyone else seeing a problem here? Does anyone else have similar problem? Anyone heard anything like this before?

Trouble With My Band After Revision - Did My Surgeon Just Try To Upsell Me?
neekoal replied to neekoal's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thanks Mis73 - Trust me, I'm not even entertaining the Sleeve comment, I was just horrified and couldn't believe he even said it. As I mentioned, he gave me a fill/adjustment yesterday, I called today because now I'm so tight that I can hardly swallow my own spit, but my stomach is growling and I'm still starving. Evidently, he is i surgery tomorrow and I as told not to force food, drink hot liquids and come in on Saturday. My husband is staring at me like I'm a space alien because every time I swallow anything at all loud ungodly noises come racing out of me. They did do a barium thing yesterday, he does one every time we do a fill or adjustment so I assume the placement is fine as he didn't say a word. It was after my barium thing that he made the Sleeve comment and said the revisions don't work. That is a really good idea about the informational seminar, I hadn't even thought of that, a great example of why the forum boards are helpful. -
I have a lap band sunshine. hoping for a quick procedure, no news from doc today.
-
Well fellow March peeps, I went in yesterday to get my 2nd fill and guess what? I'm the 2%. Yes, in 2% of lapbands the port flips as a complication, of course, that had to be me. So I have a flipped port and have to go back in to get a revision. They are calling the insurance company tomorrow for the authorizations, not sure how quick this takes place. He stuck me about 10 times trying to get the needle in before he realize it flipped, I'm fairly certain it flipped in there while he was poking me because it didn't hurt before and now its painful and I can feel the port under my ribs. Not excruitating just that short sharp pain that goes away if you change positions. Not sure if any of the rest of you have found any complications but I thought I'd share mine.

I can't agree more, it makes me twinge and make ugly faces, I hate it! I'm not sure if you had a hernia repair while he was in there too but my doc seems to think that once that heals we won't feel it as much. I'm not sure what that has to do with it but whatever.

I do! Your not crazy! The doctor told me today some people can feel it so we are not insane.

24 Hours Down And This Is Way Worse Than I Expected!
neekoal replied to Brandi18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days out and I live in sweat,s I have yet to put on real pants. I have shoulder pain on and off and cant eat more than 500 calories in a day, it took me 4 days to get to where I could eat anything. You are not alone! Oh and I'm still off work, I think I'll be able to go back on Monday, honestly I didn't feel remotely human until day 5 post surgery and that was just marginally human. -
I can only drink the premixed ones, I think the ones you mix yourself tasks awful. The most I have had calorie wise since being banded on 3/15 was 600 calories so don't feel bad. I can't even imagine eating more than that, the mere thought makes me want to lose it.

If you want to add me my user name is Neekoal on there too

If you have an iPhone a good app for this is Myfitnesspal, you can also get buddies with this app and encourage eachother (it doesn't tell your buddy your weight just if you are logging and losing).

Well I went into work this morning (surgery was 3/15) and was sent home within 3 hours by the boss. Apparently, I "look like bloody hell" (he is from the UK) although I appreciate them taking care of me it felt bad that I looked so bad. In his defense, they don't know what I had done, they only know that I had a hernia repair done. So now I'm in bed for the rest of the week, again I have much respect for all who went back to work fast! As they others said, everybody is different that is for sure! I pray the rest of you don't "look like bloody hell"!

Newbie Here - Questions About True Results & Insurance
neekoal replied to mufasas-mom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm United Healthcare and in Houston also, I got approved and have had no trouble, out of pocket I paid $1500 the rest was covered by insurance. I did have my surgery at Conroe Surgery Center and it seemed that everyone else had theirs at True Results or some hospital downtown. The True Results people should be working with you to get it what works best for YOU, if you don't like the answer ask different questions because it is covered under our insurance its just a matter of finding the right location. -
Well just an observation but I'm 4 days post surgery and I have NO idea how there are some people who go back to work next day. I went to church with my husband this morning and the instant I got home I needed to go to bed. I'm already considering not working tomorrow, I have serious respect for those of you who went to work immediately.

Question For Alumni - Twinge From Incision
neekoal posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I need to pick the brains of all those who were banded before me. I was banded Thursday morning (today is Sat) and today I've been much more mobile, walking etc. I haven't eaten or done anything off instructions. BUT, today everything time I move or lift my hands I get a twinge from my large incision like something is pulling. It doesn't really hurt except that it feels horrendous and makes me make a "horrid" face (my 13 year old son's words). Anyone had this? I'm assuming this is where the port is but I honestly don't know so I thought I'd put it out to you guys. I'm hoping this goes away because I'd hate to be in a business meeting and have that thing pull and make my "horrid face". -
Question For Alumni - Twinge From Incision
neekoal replied to neekoal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Gem, I'm not having too much shoulder pain but I do have it, I stopped taking the pain pills last night and switched to Advil instead to manage the pain and honestly I think my colon woke up! I am certain that my bladder did once I stopped taking those pain pills and the Advil is getting the job done. Since then I've been able to pass gas and other imperative functions to move that gas out. I'd rather suck up the pain from my tummy then deal with the shoulder pain. -

Thanks guys, that makes sense, I kinda wish I had gotten a support band for my abdomen bet it helped! -
I just ate the Swansons broth, I like the reclosable container so I can just pour what I need and save the rest. But kudos to you for cooking for yourself! I'm sure yours is better for you than the Swansons.

I got mine yesterday so I'm not there yet! I've got a few weeks to go, but its amazing that 3oz of broth and I'm feeling satisfied.
