Hi all, I just had the LB done on Dec 7, 2011. I feel great except I have a lump feeling in throat when I swallow. I am on purees. It is like when you swallow wrong and it feels like something is stuck in my throat. This just started on the 30th so I haven't called the doctor. I am so paranoid of slippage or a block. I saw the nutritionist on the 28th and said allll was good. Has anyone had this issue? If so please let me know it is so annoying.

It is weird I see some banders have fills right away. I was told they don't do fills until wk 6. I had my surgery on dec 7 , I am getting y 1st fill on Jan 11. I am looking forward to it.

Yes call dr asap. My dr and nutritionist say 62 oz of Water. If you are throwing up that can cause the band to slip.

I might have some insight. I was banded on the 7th. I was on Clear Liquids for 2 wks-it sucks,be creativeand follow the timeline. Wk 3-4 are purees, wk 5 start solid( I am not at week 5 yet), but when I started mooshie foods (mashedtaters shld b watered down. In fact everything shouid be applesauce consistancy). I felt the gas pains like, if I passed gas or burped I would feel better, that didn't work, I ws miserable, I couldn't go to the bathroom (took milk of mag per dr and felt huge relief). I did ask when I saw her on dec 28th y the timeline for clear liqs- purees - solid, she said it is allowing your stomach to heal because there has been trauma to the stomacg it is swollen and needs healing time. If you eat to soon purees the swelling and the stomach aren't really ready for it. I told her my family was going out to dinner tonight and she was adamant that I stick to purees, so we wete at a seafood resturant so I had a cup of clam chowder, my dr and I had discussed what I should order there. If you go out to eat before wk 5 my dr said to stick to soup. Does this help?

I was banded on the 7th of Dec, for the past 3 daysI feel like I have a lump in my throat when I swallow. My nutritionist says it is common and can last a couple wks, I see the dr on Jan 11 for y 1st fill. This upcomming wed. It is solid foods for me (yeah). Otherwise besides the annoying lump feeling when I swallow I am doing incredible, down 28lbs. Has anyone else experienced this?

I started my process in Feb 2011 and just had my lap band surg on Dec 7. I had no health issues whatsoever I WAS 286,8 my bmi like 52. CHECK w/your ins I have bcbs they required I have 7mos of nutriton(which Iam so thankful now that I have had the surg) PLUS I hadto lose 20lbs prior to surgery. As of today 4wks out from surgery I am 244.4, and really looking forward to chewing my food. Good luck.

My husband has one. I have never used it and now I dont want to or need to. He had to have it and was deterined to quit. He used it for about a month when he wanted a smoke, and now he is back on regular cigs and has been for 2 yrs. I don't think it is all it is cut outto be, plus expensive.---KathyofAlabama u can do this. Just think you are having the surgery to turn your life around for the best and for your health, y hurt it with a cig. Once u can get through the 1st 3-4 days it is much easier (I've done it b4). You can and will do it. Best of luck.

I wouldn't say to follow my example, but I smoked about a pk a day til about 2 wks before my surgery, then I cut back and had my last one thenight before surgery. They did a urine test when I got to haspital but said it was pregnancy test. I haven't craved one or anything since, in fact the smell makes me queasy now.
