  1. GNC the health food/ body building store has a pre made clear, non milky Protein drink called ISO pure. 40 grams of protein in 20 oz. They are kinda spendy, about $4 a bottle, but I find it a good way to get over my aversion to Protein drinks. I think www.dietdirect.com carries a smaller version too. They are fruity flavored almost like a not so sweet tart and best cold. Might be worth a try?
  2. So I had my sleeve done Dec 27, 2010. Since then I have lost 116 lbs. I had been stuck at 194- 198 lbs for 3 months no matter what I did until this past 2 weeks when I decided to eat what ever I wanted over the Christmas holiday. I get on the scale and have lost 8 lbs. So my question is what do I do now? Go back to my high protein (70-90 grams a day ) low Carb or eat a more " normal American" diet.
  3. I was sleeved on 12/27/2010. I was told to try and eat 800-1200 calories a day with at least 90 gms of Protein. My starting weight is close to 300lbs. I have been taking Protein shakes with extra Protein powder in them. The shake is about 15gms protein and with the soy milk -9 gms and extra protein powder 20gms that is 44 gms per shake. Calories are 150 + 70+ 80= 300 calories. I try 2 of those a day and 1 without the extra powder. It takes me almost 1 hr to drink 1 shake. And I do have to stop and get over the "I'm gonna explode" feeling. It sounds like your body is not getting enough calories/ protein to function. Your body will use your stored muscle mass to fuel itself and you will get weak and dehydrated. I was told to sip all day long if that is what it takes to get in 64 oz of Water. If I have "dragon breath" then I know I have to drink more. And I was told my pee should be lemonaide color. I say write it down. Include time, protein and calories, then plan when you are going to do for the next time. I was also told to keep protein and carbs in a 1:1 ratio. I have lost 9 lbs in the last 4 days. Best of luck and I hope this helps!!
  4. I think we might have met t the last one??

  5. Hi Kelly! Did we meet at Dr. Pennings office? I told a couple of people about this site at a pre-op support meeting. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with gas, a lot of people seem to have this problem. Let me know how it goes. Telisa

  6. Hi. I 'm Kelly and I am 39 years old. Today, Dec 29, 2010, is post op day 2 from my VSG with Dr Pennings in Post Falls, Id. I decided to have this surgery vs a RNY or band because I wanteed to keep "my plumbing" as natural as I could and I didn't want a foreign body inside of me for the next 40 years. My OMG weight was 309 lbs. Before starting the 10% I had to loose before the surgery I was at 292. The day of my surgery I was 258.4. So why didn't I continue with the liquid pre-op diet and loose all my weight that way? Because it is an all liquid diet. I was having alot of what I call head hunger and was getting closer and closer to giving in to it. (oh I feel like eating a chesseburger, fries and a milkshake and not the protein shakes I was suppose to be drinking or treating myself to food for losing weight!??) My biggest issue today is that I have bloating and gas. So much that I can't even drink water without belching. I just got back from the pharmacy with some Gas-X thin strips and I hope they help. I also am extreemly restless. I am not sure if that is because of the gas or from the pain, stool softners or carafate I am taking. Anyone else have this problem??
