19 Months Out - 120 Lbs Down ......
mags2u replied to hotsexyrunnerchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amazing and inspiring! Thanks for sharing and congrats! -
Hi Haylie~I would say that it is a very personal decision for everyone, but I would commend you for looking into it at such a young age. Get your weight and more importantly your health in check NOW. Definitely do research in your area of recommended surgeons or weight loss programs for bariatric surgeries. Check this site often for advice and opinions, but just know thats all they are, opinions. Only you can decide what is best for you. I've been heavy since I was 17, and it was the best decision I've made. Only took me 20 years to figure it out. Best wishes for lots of support and health!

New Here! Finally Started My Journey Today!
mags2u replied to justathing2me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and congrats! I agree that I would get as much out of the way that you can. You want to have all your ducks in a row when submitting for insurance so it goes smoothly. Does your surgeons office submit everything for you? My place had a patient checklist and a patient advocate that handled everything which was nice. Congrats again! -
New To Lbt. Soon To Be Bandster March 14Th....
mags2u replied to alliemichelle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your decision! Sorry that you don't have support. Is it that they just don't know enough about it? I think its great that you are doing this at 20. Best decision so far that I've made. Wish I would have done it back then! Keep up with the site- it gives lots of support -
I think individual goals would be awesome. Just Do It, what does the 300 represent? I think I'm going to set my exercise goal for 750minutes for the month of March.

I think you should tell him how it makes you feel. I'm sure he'd be happy to come up with an alternative. And you're right, he works for you! :-) Keep up the great work though!

My first fill was 2/9 and only 2cc. Its weird, some foods I feel restriction on. I definitely feel more restriction early in the morning. But I am still hungry between meals. I think part of the problem is I know I don't chew as much as I need to. Still can't tolerate any wheat products. Looking forward to another fill on 3/10. :-)

Was he apart of the Weightloss Institute? Not heard of him/her. Do you go to the support groups? I think they are the 1st Wed. of each month. Let me know if you go to any of them.

Humiliated At Work Today! Omg!!!!!
mags2u commented on sexymomma001's blog entry in sexymomma001's Blog
Girls can be our best friends or the biggest .....well you know. You walk in that work tomorrow with your SKINNY head held high. Rumors are rumors until we don't feed into them with negative energy. Positive thoughts girl. The truth is between you and God above and it doesn't matter what procedure you had done- you did it for YOU and your kiddos, so don't let them take that away. Kind of like you can't change stupid......you can't take the b*tc% out of a b*tc%! -
My Doc Asked Me To Be A Mentor.

That's awesome! What an honor! -
Well it was bound to happen. My surgery was January 10th and I've done great. And then there was today! I own a photobooth company and had a big wedding show today. Needless to say, my business partner was sick and unable to attend so my stress level was definitely rising. It didn't help matters that I was running way late. So I thought I would make a smart choice and stop at my local QT and get a turkey sandwich. I thought this would be a better choice than the myriad of wedding cake samples that I knew would be lerking at every cake vendors table. Not sure what I was thinking choosing a turkey on WHEAT. Ever since my first fill, wheat is NOT my friend. Well four hours later as I returned home I was starving! I peeked my eyes into a white bag on the counter and what did my wandering eyes did appear? But a great big square rice krispie treat from Fudrucker's restaurant! Based on the look on my step-son's face, you know the one- raised eyebrow and head tilted cockeyed, I realized I was devouring it like a crack addict getting high after being discharged from rehab! I thought, "what the hell is wrong with me?". Why now? I've sacrificed, I've planned, I've tracked every morsal of food, I've lost 29lbs for the love of Peter, Mary and Joseph! After thoroughly enjoying, rather inhaling the rice krispie treat I realized, "Ok Maggie. Whats done is done. Get back to the plan and knock that sh*t off!" Ahhh THE PLAN. THAT is precicely what I failed to do this morning. My life is different. My stomach is different. What I can eat is different. If I don't plan, I know I fail. So I'm committing to myself to re-focus on planning. PS: If it makes anyone feel better who is thinking about eating a nice big sugery treat after they've been "sugar sober" for about a month- I DON'T RECOMMEND IT! I felt like crap after eating it. I don't miss those days of feeling like sludge! "Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success" ~ Stephen A Brennan

Old habits are what got me fat to begin with, but boy are they sure hard to break! I'm batteling the voice in my head going, you can only eat at most 1 c at a meal so you better eat it all or you will be hungry later. I need to learn that even if I only eat three bites of a boca burger and I'm full, to STOP. I need to let Prudence do her job. Its a work in progress for sure!

Did your doctor have any concerns with you being so restricted at this point? Also did he fill date of surgery? Congrats on the 20lbs! I'm the same way with exercise. I was gung ho at first, but finding myself making excuses on not exercising. Need to get back in the groove. Stay positive. We can do this!

My Lap Band Almost Killed Me
mags2u replied to m239291's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello! I'm glad you are ok. I had my surgery by Dr. Scott (I'm assuming from your posts and descriptions that yours was the same). If it makes you feel any better, maybe as a direct result of your situation, it is VERY much discussed in the pre-op education classes that this is a very real risk of having this surgery. They also tell us that although it is advertised as reversable, if you have to have it removed out of necessesity, the scar tissue formed by the initial surgery would force you most likely to convert to the gastric bypass. Erosion was one of my biggest concerns. (Still is). But I guess for me it was a risk worth taking. Hope everything works out with you and your continued health! Mags -

My First Meeting Is Feb 29,2012
mags2u replied to Big momma:)'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and welcome! Make sure you check what insurance requirements (ie: what pre-op diet and time frame you have to be on, documentation, etc). Also, find out if your insurance covers the costs of the fills (most do). Ask your surgeon what type of pre-op diet you will be required to do and what type of support meetings they offer afterwards, etc. Best of luck to you! -
Struggling- I know what you mean. I actually use that fear as a deterant from eating foods that are bad from me. I tell myself that it will "clog my hole". Now does that work all the time, no. But it has helped. Keep up the great work!

So this past weekend we had a sort-of reunion. My family is VERY large (my dad had eight brothers/sisters) and we're all really close. We also all (most of us anyway) have had weight issues. Thinking back as a child, any gathering we had together, ALWAYS focused and centered around food. This weekend was no different. There was ham, pasta, roast beef, cheese, potato casseroles, deviled eggs, brownies, turtle cakes, you name it! I'm proud to say that I had 1 deviled egg, 2 small meatballs, 1 slice cheese, and I couldn't help myself but I had the corn casserole. I went slow- got my protein in first and had NO, nada, zilch for dessert. I'm committed to this and if that means I'm missing out a little bit, well then so be it. Today I also discovered myfitnesspal.com! I've been seeing everyone with their weightloss tickers and that website rocks! Its so easy for me to pop the info into my computer or my phone. I also have to thank my co-worker for walking with me on lunch today. I wanted to stop at three laps, but she made me do six laps. She said, "theres no traffic in the extra mile". I said, huh? She said if you push yourself, you'll feel better and theres nothing stopping you to go the extra mile. No wonder she is also my business partner- what a smart girl! Mags

Taking The First Steps To A New Life
mags2u replied to Abby E's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! Best decision I've made thus far! -
I usually do either a plain greek yogurt with delmonte peaches or manderine oranges (packed in Water but drained) or I've been real big on the ricotta cheese mixed with the same If I'm hungry I do an unjury Protein Shake lunch I either do tuna packets, 2oz deli meat, fish and a steamed veggie snack I'll do a laughing cow wedge and/or Protein shake again dinner my hubby normally cooks a great fish/chicken something or another and I steam a veggie. With that being said I have eaten out at restaurants and had Pasta, bread (VERY, VERY VERY limited amounts) and have done well. I'm super strict on getting in all my protein and timing when to drink and when not to. Hope that helps! You will break the 22lbs. It just will happen. Keep up the great work too!

Yesterday I was thrilled to be 27lbs down since 1/10/12- today.....29lb. I had to get on the scale twice! So excited!

When I first started on this site, I would always read how much people were saying, "I NEEEEED my fill", "Can't wait for my fill", "Hungry! Don't get my fill for a while" and couldn't really understand that "need" because for the first three weeks although I WAS hungry at times it was manageable. I would just like to apologize publicly on this forum for wondering.. .........yesterday (day before my fill) I could have eaten my face off. I was redonkulously hungry between every meal. In fact not one meal yesterday even touched my hunger radar. I was thinking, "ONE MORE DAY" which brings me back to the "a ha moment" as Oprah would say. Today was a 360 moment. I can truly say now that I GET IT! Feels great that Prudence finally got her fill, 2cc infact. Tomorrow is my 1 month bandiversary and I can say that although challenging, its been a great month!

Question You Wished You Had Asked Your Surgeon

What the pre-op diet is, including what vitamins/supplements to be on. Congrats on your decision! -
I got my first fill too! WHAT a difference!
