So I had a fill yesterday. I was at 1.5cc in my 10cc and band and she added 1cc. Yesterday I was on liquids and today I am on mushies. Today the mushies are hurting me. I get a pain in my chest and my throat starts gargling and my mouth fills with saliva. I do not get the urge to throw up but it does hurt. Could this just be that my stomach is swollen from the fill or should I get and have them take some out? How many days should I wait to find out if this stops?

I went to my Dr and got 3/4 of a cc taken out because I tried 1 bite of a piece of Chicken and thought I was gonna die. She said my stomach was probably just extra swollen and next time I will need to stay on liquids for 2 days then mushies another 2 days instead of 1 and 1.

I need some tips on some exercise activities to start with. I am 4 weeks out of surgery and I havent really started a routine. The muscle that the port is sewed into just barely stopped hurting when i walk. My main focus has just been to move more throughout the day but now I need to get a routine started. I am hoping some of you have ideas of some moderate activities that I could do at home to get into the grove. So excited that I am starting to get to the point where it is ok to start to focus on loss and not just on healing.

I didnt either for about a week after surgery and then still rare for a bit after that. I think it has to do with liquids and the fact that one of the side effects of pain meds is constipation. If it really worrying you start adding some fiber, that doesn't jell or expand or take a stool softener. TMI but as soon as i started adding the little Benefiber packets I have been moving much more regularly and I feel better too, plus it is flavorless and not grainy so i can just add it to my water and I am set!

Wow Wow Wow, I Got A Glimpse Of My New Tummy
tsteves1 replied to Jachut's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congrats!! i think you looked great in your before picture, can only hope I can ever look half as good as you did. I am sure you are going to look amazing now!! So happy for you! -
So today i did 2 miles on the walk at home video. it is the fast and firm one by Leslie and I went into it with the intention of only doing 1 and by the time the first mile was over I was like hell yeah I can do another. I LOVE that she throws in different movements other than walking and that she focuses on engaging your core. My port muscle is a little sore but nothing unbearable. Successful first "dedicate work out session post lap band". i was also very active yesterday! After my birthday weekend mani pedi, I took the dogs to the dog park and walked laps, came home did laundry cleaned a bit then we went bowling for a few hours and since it was cosmic bowling we were all up dancing and having a gay ol time! I am going to say that I feel much better after all of the moving. now time for my morning Protein shake then to get to the dog park so the dogs can get their work out on too!!

Maybe I will join my local rec center and partake of the Water fitness classes. That sounds fun. My Dr hasn't put any restrictions on what I can do, he said let my body be the judge. We communicate pretty well so I think he would tell me to stop if I reported anything unusual. Thanks for the advice.

I Gained Weight Immediately After Surgery Help!
tsteves1 replied to sktatey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am not glad that I did not step on a scale until my two week appointment, I probably would have thrown the scale out the window if I saw a gain right after surgery. HAHA then I would have gotten on here for advice and validation as i usually do. -
Very cool! Its nice to hear about other people's differences. Just amazing how many different procedures there are.

Thanks for the tips!! I have some DVDs that I bought forever ago and I think that one might be walking at home. I will have to dig them all up and check them out. My goal is to one day, probably a year or so from now, be able to do Insanity as I spent a crap ton of money on it a few months ago. I will take it easy and focus on activities that aren't too strenuous. My surgeon said he doesn't really have a recommendation and to just let my body tell me what I can handle. He also said that because he actually sews the port into the muscle, to expect to get sore quickly at first with things that use my stomach muscles until my muscle gets used to that port.

I voted for you! Good luck!

That sounds pretty neat! It doesn't bug you to have it there on the bone like that? Hope everything went good today Jachut.

Being on solid food has been nice. I cant wait for a fill so that I can get restriction and start focusing on losing.
-
Your port is on your breast bone? May I ask why they put it there? Is that a typical practice some surgeons do?
-
Yay for you!!! It will be so exciting to finally have morbidly removed as a word to describe me. LOL

Yeah I don't think that I will set this as a firm goal yet. Maybe in like January if I am closer and I know better as to what I can really do I can set a birthday goal. Right now my main goal will be to get my band in the Green Zone and get a good exercise routine going. Then once I am in the Green Zone I can start setting little weight goals and other non scale goals. I will keep my ideal weight goal at 2 years and adjust as needed. Does anyone have any non scale goal ideas. I know basics like pant sizes and such but did you guys have any goals that you were looking to meet or things you hoped to one day do that helped you to be really motivated to stick with your new lifestyle and not revert to old ways?

Would I be stupid to set a goal to get to my goal weight by my 26th birthday? I started at 270 and as of 3/12 I was at 252, not sure of my weight today but my scale says 245, will confirm weight again on April 3. Any who my 25th birthday is Monday April 2nd I was just doing he math and if I averaged 2 lbs a week then I could be down to my goal weight of 155 by my 26th. Is that too lofty of a goal? Would I be setting myself up for failure? When I originally went into this my goal was to be at goal by my 27th birthday so that my husband and I could start trying for a baby again. It would be great if I could be there a year sooner even though my surgeon recommends no pregnancy for 18 months. That would give me some time to enjoy being thin again before my husband starts getting on me about the baby gig.

True a deadline is a good and it will make it so that I get nicely motivated.

I am just about 4 weeks post op and the last time that I weighed in, at 2 weeks, I was down 18 pounds. According to my scale at home I was down 25lbs today but I don't go by anything but the scale at my Dr's office. Next time I go is 4/3, for my first fill.

Drinking And Eating With The Lap Band
tsteves1 replied to Chicka's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Dr says I can drink right up to the first bite and then no drinking for 2 hours after the meal. It will depend on what your Dr orders. -
Great job!! I wish I only had 68LBS to lose but that is still a significant amount to need to lose and already over 30lBS 7 weeks post op is amazing. I am now 3 weeks post op and the last time I weighed at 2 weeks I was 18 down. I am refusing to go by any scales except my Drs for my official weight so i wont know how much I am down again until 4/3 unless they are willing to let me hop on the scale while I am there for my support group on Wednesday. I can say that my size 18's that were pretty tight before surgery are now loose, even right out of the dryer. I sure hope I can do as well as you have!
