  1. Had a pretty good weekend. Went with my husband to Kohl's on Saturday so that he could spend the cash he earned and then we took the dog to the dog park and I wandered around a bit which was nice. Then Sunday I went to the mall with my husband and friends, got to do some shopping then to the dog park again. My body did feel really sore all over Sunday night, I think because I was trying to be so careful while walking that my body was just really tense. Tried to sleep in my bed last night and spent the night tossing and turning and getting no sleep so this afternoon I took some pain meds and took a nice long nap. When I woke up to take the dog out i was up and down the stairs in record time so I think I am making progress. That's all I could ask for is progress. Tonight I will take pain meds before bed and seep on the couch. Goal for tomorrow is to take the dog to the dog park and walk at least 4 laps around while she plays! It's nice reading all of your posts to know that I am not alone in this journey!!

    February Bandsters?

Feeling better today! Went to the store with my hubby and we took Kona to the dog park and I got to do a bit of walking. The gas pain is still there and it hurts when it tries to come out LOL. The port is the worst part at this moment, it feels like it is pulling and causing stress in that area. Also I am so scared the port is gonna flip or something. I am feeling a lot more positive about the whole thing now, for a few days I was doubting myself which made me sad but I am better now.
  4. My Dr quotes the average of 66% of excess weight loss. This is because how much you lose is truly up to you. He said he also quotes losing the 66% within 2 to 2 1/2 years. He was very honest when we talked about goals. He said that he has patients that lose all of their excess weight within a year and some that only lose 50% and at a slower pace. He set my goal at 66% and said when I get there we will talk about the potential of getting to or at least closer to my normal range. He said for some people getting to their normal range isnt really a realistic goal because they dont want to put fourth the type of effort that it may take and that losing half is still great. He forsees me being one of his patients that gets to the normal weight range and doing it a lot faster than average but said we will wont know until further down the line what is really best for me. Anyways I know that was a bit rambly but the point is that its all dependent on you. I will say that I talked to many Drs about this, also my insurance and the psychologist all said that this procedure was an amazing choice and much healthier, at least for me, than the alternatives. Hope that helps!
  5. Every Dr. is going to be an advocate for some things and have an issue with other things. Apparently this Dr you saw just doesn't like the lapband. If you are really set on getting it then you should get another opinion or 2. Be sure to find somone who is an advocate for the band with a lot of experience so that you can feel comfortable knowing you have someone that will be there with you during this amazing life change.

    February Bandsters?

Thanks for the words! Today is much better than yesterday, I have been up walking around the house trying to get the gas to disipate. My dog is very irritated at me though because I am up more and not taking her to play. My friend is coming over after work and we are gonna go for a walk so that could be helpful to getting the gas pain down.

    February Bandsters?

I am still having some massive pain today. The gas pain is really bad and the port incision is crazy bad. I was able to get up and down the 3 flights of stairs today but it didnt feel so nice. I am trying to stay positive but I don't handle pain very well. Anyone have some inspiring words for us people that are on day 4 and not feeling so well? Good thing is that tomorrow I get to move from clear liquids to full liquids so I can have some more satisfying things like protein shakes Yay!!! Cant wait for a Slim Fast Cappucino protien shake! Anyways I am still excited for this journey just a little down with the pain!

    Just Getting Started

I was just banded on Monday and my process was very quick. Luckily my insurance policy is amazing and with very minimal pre-surgey requirements. It all depends on the insurance policy but my case worker said I hurried along the process by educating myself and keeping in constant contact with the people that were set up to work with me. Just be sure you get all the information you need from your insurance company and keep motivated about the process.

    February Bandsters?

Walk it out while you still can. I had mine on Monday and it was all shoulder pain, no incision pain so I took advantage of being able to walk around my house a bit. Yesterday the incision pain started and last night it got really bad so I was down. Today I am sore in my tummy and in my shoulder but since it is getting better was finally able to sleep so I am taking advantage of that today. Tomorrow will be the day I try and go down my 3 flights if stairs and back up haha. Baby steps for sure. I may also make it a goal to not take any pain meds tomorrow. We will see!

    February Bandsters?

Hi all! I am banded! Yesterday was great, check in was noon and surgey was at 2 and I left the hospital at 7. Not really any pain on any of the incisions yesterday but a lot of chest pain from the gas left behind. Didn't sleep well last night as I am not a good back sleeper. The abdomen pain did start today but not bad, feels more like I did a really massive workout yesterday. Focusing on walking as much as I can and drinking some Gatorade and having some Jello.

    How Long Were You Out?

Looks like I am the only crazyone taking off tons of time. I am having the surgery on 2/27 and I dont go back until 3/19. I work in a call center but it was more just my boss being nice and wanting to give me enough time to heal and adjust and come back feeling nice, new and rested.

    Goal Weight

My surgeon set my overall goal at 66% of excess weight lost so my main goal now is 194. Then if i get there we can set another goal for a Normal weight which would be 155. I am supposed to set little goals for myself and my first goal is 240. I like having little goals but they don't mean much. My personal goal is to be a size where I feel good and I can go to regular stores for clothes.

    February Bandsters?

Hello February Bandsters! Congrats to all who have already had surgery and good luck to those that have it coming up. I am getting pretty excited out surgery ... Monday cant come fast enough. Lots of work this weekend to get all of my supplies and to get my house nice and clean so that I don't have too much to worry about while I am home recovering. I was super duper happy yesterday when the surgeon said I was down 6 lbs after week one of the Pre-Op diet even though I cheated over the weekend and renewed my motivation to do great this weekend. I am shooting for another 6 this week ... unlikely but a girl can dream. Anyways, that was my little tidbit for the day!!

    February Bandster!!!

We are just past the middle of the month and it looks like it has been a lucky one for our February Bandsters. So crazy to think that after tonight I only have 1 work week left until surgery. The fact that my boss is letting me take 3 weeks off is great! Hopefully I can rest, recover and revive and come back to work feeling good.
  21. Pre-Op diet hasnt been too much fun. Excited about the surgery though so Ill keep with it! :)

    February Bandster!!!

This Pre-Op Diet is rough. I am only on day 3 but having only 800-960 calories a day is rough, plus being off caffeine is leaving me with crazy headaches. I am trying to look at the bigger picture but it is pretty rough because I feel like I am lagging and I don't have much energy at all. Anyone have any good tips to keep me from going insane?

    Pre Op Diet Help!

I think that everyone has opinions on what is best and they all have their pros and cons. My Dr has me on the same types that your Dr suggested and the guy and the nutrition place thought they were very good choices. I just get mine from Wal Mart though. LOL I would just go with what your Dr says, he is the professional right? LOL
