Post- Op Day 4- Moving Right Along

I have been struggling to drink all of my protein shakes. I have managed to get about 1/2 to 3/4 of one down a day. I am sipping slow and making sure that I am allowing each sip to go down. Yesterday I found protein shots by Body Fortress. No sugar and 26 gms of protein in each serving which is about 3 ounces. These will be a godsend for me. I am still drinking my shake, but knowing I can drink one of these to get my protein in really helps me right now. So today I had one shake, a shot, 1/2 cup of broth and a sf applesauce. And I am still sipping the same low cal gatorade from yesterday, but it is almost down. I think at this point it is a mind game since there is really not restriction. I am really not too hungry, just want to make sure that I am doing it all according to my surgeon's orders. I go in for a post-op appointment Tuesday and I really want the steri-strips off, they are a bit annoying now. Also my rash seems to be going away. It has a dry appearance to it and still it quite a bit itchy. I also am not red like Mr Krabs on Spongebob anymore either. LOL! That was very unattractive. I just hope it continues to go away. I have one last day to rest and then it is back to the rat race on Tuesday!

Post- Op Day 4- Moving Right Along

The protein shots are pretty good. I did not mix it with anything. I just drank it by itself. These are flavored so in a way it tastes like a melted popsicle. March 2nd is right around the corner. How is your pre- op diet going?

    February Bandsters?

Good luck Rebecca!! Dont worry, everything will go great! Today I am feeling good. I actually woke at my usual time and I am getting my son ready for school. Today is my last day of rest then it is back to work tomorrow. Outside of a little gas pain lingering, I feel great.

    Almost One Day Post-Op

I am awake for a bit and hoping to get back to sleep soon. Surgery went well. I didn't go in until 11:00 tor my surgery at ten. I was out at 12:15 and woke up about two in recovery. Turns out I had a hiatal hernia, so it was repaired. I was sent for my x-ray a short while later. The tech confused me with another patient and asked me why my surgeon did a sleeve instead of a band????!!? I was so confused, but she realized her error and quickly cleared it up. I got to my room and my hubby wad there. I ass given pain meds and things to sip. I was discharged around five and got home shortly after. I did over exert myself walking and getting in and out of the car too much. I also have quite a big of gas pains and I cant lie on my back.. which is not too bad since I am a side sleeper. But overall I am doing well.
  8. Thank you Cyndie! I just have to remember to take it east! I will have to remember to try that one at smoothie king. Hang in there and jjust keep up the good work!

Does Anyone Else Have Left Shoulder Pain

I do. I was banded on 2/15 and the pain is less today but it is still there. It's from the gas they used. Remember to walk to allow it to move around.

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day!

I took my kindle and my cell. But I didn't stay over night. Once I got to pre-op, everything was in fast forward and I didn't get to use either one. Good luck tomorrow!
  13. I had to lose a pretty good chunk of weight to be able to safely have my surgery. So through changing my diet and exercise and pre-op diet, I lost 60 pounds. I was pretty active right up to the night before surgery, taking zumba 4x a week and also swimming. I really want to know how difficult has it been for others to get back in the swing of exercising really intense since being banded. Thanks!

Post- Op Day 3- Rashes And Revalations!

Feeling pretty good today. Learning to listen to my body and the cues it gives me. It is getting easier to rest so I can heal.Yesterday was a good day. I was able to pass gas( sorry for the tmi, but when you get to this side you will understand I had 1/2 cup of egg drop soup, one protein shake, and a popsicle. I also had a vitamin water that I sipped on all day. Well actually I have been sipping it for two days. I was so stuffed. Today I added protein powder to my shake for a total of 40 grams of protein there and I am 1/2 way through it. I also broke out in a rash from head to toe. It turns out I am allergic to the pain meds. So no more for me. Lucky enough I really do not need them anymore but it has to work itself out of my system. Im going to try to walk more today, but still the simplest things tire me out. But I am happy to be on this side!

Post- Op Day 3- Rashes And Revalations!

Around the ster-strips is looks normal. It is a real fine, raised rashed all over. I talked with my patient advocate and she thinks it may be from the pain meds or something I was given in the OR. It is better this morning

    February Bandsters?

I know how you feel. I have a big family and so much of what we do involves food. If I feed you, i love you. That sort of thing. But I have learned that I can still cook for them and also to make it more healthy. It is going to be a long road but we choose this road for a better us. Hang in there!

    Exercise After The Band

Thanks for the input. Wow, it is so different with each person. I have been walking which I was cleared to do as soon as I was up to it. I think once I am clear I will ease back into. Maybe walking on the treadmill or around my neighborhood.
