  1. Are you staying hydrated? I know when I haven't drank enough water, I feel just like you. Try drinking more water.
  2. Congratulations! Have a fabulous trip. I know what you mean when you say this wouldn't have been possible before bandland. I am only 6 weeks out but can already get around so much easier. No huffing and puffing. I can walk further and I stood in line for 45 min without my back, feet, hips and knees hurting. We love to travel, where in Europe are you going?

    Iband With Gastric Sleeve Plication

Banded 12/29, I went home about 8 hrs after surgery. I didn't know I got the plication until after I woke up. The procedure is very new here and my doctor adds it at no charge. I am so glad he did. I love it! I chose the band because the bypass and sleeve scared me. I felt the health issues associated with them made it too risky for me. Good luck in whatever you choose.

    Night Sweats?

I think you are experiencing peri-menopause. That can occur as young as you are. Night sweats and flushing SUCKS. I slept with a fan blowing on my face year round. No long sleeves and carried a paper fan in my purse. I tried hormones, but they scared me and really didn't help. Talk to your doctor and ask about black cohosh or estroven, these are both supplements and may help. I just toughed it out until I was in full menopause. Good luck and you will make it through this. Waynette

WOW I read this during my days off. All I can say is: I'm sorry, sad, happy, worried, freaked, happy, amazed, proud, and congratulations. My sister-in-law and her DH live in Middle River and work for SS, when we come to visit them. I would be thrilled to meet you. I haven't been through what you have my DH believes in his marriage vows. But, we've had other issues in our 21 yrs. Good luck and many blessings. Waynette

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Having trouble getting moving, have always detested exercise, hated physical Ed as a kid. But, I broke 250 this morning! I feel so much better, I park far out in a stores parking lot to walk in and look straight at my silahoutte in the glass doors when I go in instead of looking anywhere else but at me. When my DH and I go to a restaurant and the hostess asks booth or table, I can say it doesn't matter because I now fit in a booth. I am HAPPY!!!!!

    Hospital Stay

My surgeon let me make the decision. I was banded at The Lap-Band Center of Oklahoma in Tulsa, it's been open barely a year. It is a very small and personal facility, only three of us were banded on my day. The staff is absolutely wonderful and I was called the evening of my pre-op and the evening of my surgery to see how I was doing. I felt so great I chose to go home the same day. Dr. Ladd Atkins is my surgeon and I named my band after him. Not only is he a hottie. But, I now have hope for a healthier life.

    Soooo Needing A Fill!!! Ugh

Just because its a slider food( seems most slider foods are bad for you)after you get to the solid stage doesn't mean to eat more. PD's are productive burbs after you have (A) ate too fast or ( ate too much. Sometimes they will help relieve your discomfort.

    How Much On Liquid Stage?

You didn't. My doctor told me it is hard to mess up during your healing phase as long as you stick to your liquids.
  13. No, its more slimy than regular saliva. Had my first experience with it last night. You can be sure I will try to go a VERY long time without doing that again.
  14. I still have little restriction. I try to stay with 4 oz. protein and lots of veggies and some whole grains. If I get hungry again in a few hours, I do more veggies. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Finally Banded!

Welcome to the other side. I started my journey in April and was banded 12/29. I was on liquids 2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op, then mushies for 2 weeks. Had first fill 2/1, very little restriction yet. Had my first "stuck" episode last night, the refried beans were thicker than I expected. It did hurt but I was laughing at myself for not being more careful. Slimed, PBed a lot and walked around. It was better in about 15 min. Lost 42# before surgery with WW and 18 after. I know that this band is going to help me to a healthier more active life.
  16. Shrimp and crab with cocktail sauce, boiled of course. Tuna, egg, chicken, ham salads made with ff or light mayo. Cooked veggies heated if you have access to microwave, they're not bad room temp and dipped in ff ranch. Salads (not made with iceburg there is no nutritional value in iceburg) just use ff or lf cheeses and dressings.

    How Much On Liquid Stage?

Don't worry about too much liquid during your healing phase. You don't want to get dehydrated and your main goal is to heal and recover from surgery. Be sure and sip, sip, sip Water.
  19. My gas lasted about a week and I walked, burped a lot and unfortunately tooted. I never was anxious or scared waiting for my banding but I was so dreading the gas they told me to expect. I had a emergency Caesarean 26 years and the gas was excruciating. Thank goodness this gas was less painful. It will eventually leave the building and you'll feel amazing.
  20. It will get better as you add more solids to your diet. I don't think you need to worry about staying hydrated after all you are on all liquids. Good luck and welcome to Bandster land.
  21. Banded 12/29, had first fill 2/1, had to supervise diet before being banded. Lost 42# with WW and 18 since surgery. Am having a LOT of trouble making myself exercise, but WILL get going. So happy I made this decision, have never had trouble losing just unsuccessful keeping it off. Now I have the ability to be successful.

    Scars And Incisions

Banded 12/29, I have one incision bout 2" long and 2 very small ones and two about the size of the tip of my pinky. They got infected and still haven't healed completely. If you're worried about scarring, Wal-Mart has vitamin E oil you can use to help minimize the scarring. If you are planning on tummy tuck those will be much larger. Good luck and happy banding!
