Well my friends, it has officially been four weeks since my surgery in beautiful Las Vegas! And what an amazing month it has been. I will have to say that I am truly one of the lucky ones! I have had absolutely no complications whatsoever. My Nanner has no lactose intolerance, no heartburn, no sliming, no irregularity, no food aversions, nothing...zip,...nada...zilch. IT'S WONDERFUL!! So to ask me would I do it again, my answer is a resounding YES!!!!!! I started this journey with a 2wk preop at 243, this morning I was at 212. I lost 15lbs on the preop and 16lbs since my surgery on 01/20. I have posted pics below and I may be biased, but I can really tell!! So to anyone contemplating this procedure I say go for it! It's an incredible tool to have!! I started on the elliptical today so hopefully the weight will keep falling off! Thank you to all for the encouragement! And Good Luck to everyone!! Kacy

My pharmacy told me to get liquid Tylenol sore throat. It's just Tylenol but with a cool minty taste. Works just fine for me! -
At Four Weeks Post Op?
kcsmicah replied to PreciousCargo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit the 15lbs lost since surgery mark today and I have already been thru a one week stall. I eat pretty much what I want to within reasob of course. I am keeping my calories under 700, my protein above 60, my carbs under 40 and my fat under 45. So far so good. For dinner tonight I had three saltine crackers and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese. If you want to see the rest of my food logs for the past several weeks you can friend me on myfitnesspal.com. My user name is "MyNanner"! -
My hubby did the 40 day plan over Christmas. He just finished up the stabilization phase this weekend and hit the 50lb mark. He has done awesome and he looks awesome!! Reminds me of high school! Now I just have to catch up with him!!!

Is it for everyone that has had the surgery or only for their patients? I had my surgery out of state do I don't know if I qualify to come. Do you know?

Ask The Person Below A Question, Answer The One Above.
kcsmicah replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in The Lounge
Yes, my hubby and I traveled to Italy in 2006. We spent 3 days in Venice and 4 days in Rome. I wish we could go back to Venice as it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been! Question for the next person: If you could have any superpower, which one would you want and why? -

Elevated Alkaline Phosphatase, Ast & Alt Levels
kcsmicah replied to Ms. VSG4health's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My ALT levels are pretty much always out of the normal range. A week before surgery mine were at 180. I haven't been back to the doctor for my follow up yet. I go on the 20th for my one month. They think mine is caused by prednisone usage for hives over the last 9 years. Hopefully this surgery will help to bring them down! -
Wishing you a super speedy recovery!!!

You will feel the restriction some with creamy liquids but not as much as with puréed food or solids. For me the "full" feeling is kind of a tightening in my chest as though I need to burp. As far as creamy stuff went I am able to get my whole protein shake down but only about 1/2 cup of creamy soups at a time. I think it's a temperature thing. Anyway, hope this helps!! Just take it slow and you'll be fine!

Are You Telling People That Your Having This Surgery?
kcsmicah posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wanted to get some opinions on this topic.... I made the decision to tell all of my friends and family as well as coworkers that I was having the sleeve done (01/20/12). I think that for me it will give me a huge support group as well as a lot more accountability. What are your thoughts and reasons behind them? Kacy -
Sleeved On Jan 24Th. - Gained Weight
kcsmicah replied to monalisa1010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give it a few more days for the fluids and swelling to go down and you will see the scale moving in the right direction. I too gained weight from surgery am to when I weighed a few days post op. I am now 8 days post op and I have lost 8.6lbs. Keep sipping, keep walking and you'll be fine. I also am getting in all my fluids everyday including two protein shakes so that isn't hurting you! Welcome to the losers bench and also to the forum!! -

kcsmicah replied to kcsmicah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

What Counts Towards My Fluid Intake?
kcsmicah posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I am supposed to be drinking 64oz of water per day but I'm wondering what counts towards this "water" number? Does the Vitamin Water Zero, Propel zero and Powerade Zero count towards the water intake? Do my protein shakes count? Or, does it have to be plain old water? -
Do you want me to sing you a lullaby? Lol!! Hope you can get to sleep soon!! Glad all went well!

So I am now 4 days out and already having acid reflux pains. The doc told me to try Prilosec so i went and got some this evening but the pills are actually time release capsules. Is this okay for me to swallow or should I go get something else? I Just want some relief!!!
-
That sucks about your boyfriend but you can celebrate anyway! Try going to a Chinese place and getting some egg drop soup! That way your still going out but your also still staying in the confines of your post op diet. Btw, when do you get to start puréed food?

If you like Ramen noodles you can buy those and just throw the noodles away. The little seasoning packs in those make for some yummy broth! I also use the bouillon cubes for mine cause I don't like the canned stuff either!
