Has anyone had any luck with Anthem Federal (BCBS)? I am getting conflicting info from them so I just wondered if anyone else knows anything. I called them with the codes the surgeon gave me and they said they were to vague and they needed more info before they could tell me if they covered it or not. I decided to go ahead with the psych eval and then let the surgeons staff deal with the insurance!

Hi Everyone, I attended the lapband seminar Wednesday night in Maumee with Dr. Duckett and it was very informative. I scheduled my initial consult with him on Oct. 2 and am trying to get the psych eval appointment set up quickly. I talked to my insurance (Anthem Federal) and got very conflicting information as to coverage. I figure I'm going to go forward and get everything together and then let the doctor handle the insurance!! I am really ready to have this surgery and am going to get it - one way or another!! Thanks for all the info. It is very beneficial and encouraging.

Hi Everyone. I am new to this site and I am really enjoying reading everyones posts. I am just beginning this journey of wls. Next Wednesday I will be attending the seminar that is required prior to scheduling the first consult with the surgeon. I learned about the lapband surgery from my sister who had it done in December 2002. She has lost about 70lbs and looks and feels wonderful. Has also come off of most of her medications (diabetes/high blood pressure and cholestrol). Certainly convinced me to get moving on this path!! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am married with 2 children, a daughter 17, and a son 11. My husband and children have been very supportive of my decision. My daughter says she'll take me shopping to get new clothes in a few months. (maybe jumping the gun there a little, but gives me something to look forward too. She's working too!!) I'll keep you updated on my progress.

Hi Dramy, Don't know what part of Michigan you live in, but I am going to a seminar Wednesday with Dr. Timothy Duckett who is located in Maumee Ohio, just across the border from Michigan. You might waqnt to check him out. I live in the Columbus Ohio area but because of insurance am having to drive almost 3 hours north to be stay in my network. Anyway, good luck on your research. I have been considering this a several months, and this is my first step forward!@ Sheila

Thanks Alexandra. Actually I hadn't heard that about the seminar but it doesn't surprise me. Seems the bypass is getting most attention but it's not for me. I am excited about the lapband though. I'll let you know how the seminar goes. Good luckwith your surgery that's coming up pretty soon. Godspeed to you.
