has anyone experienced their gall bladder going wonky after lap banding? April 4th my gall bladder went bad and i had to spend three days in the hospital fighting the infection/recovering from surgery and then another five days fighting the pnuemonia it caused. Now, my stomach only feels better when there is food in it. Like it is digesting all the time and only feels better when I eat, which defeats the whole purpose of having a lap band!!! Any thoughts/suggestions?

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
Lilygirl40 replied to Sazparella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I admit, I am a scale junkie. Everytime I walk into my closet I weigh my self. I can't help it. I should throw the damn thing away but just can't. Waiting for first fill on the 15th then maybe after that I will be able to get rid of it. -

To Fill Or Not To Fill...that Is The Question???
Lilygirl40 replied to Ashleigh'sMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot wait for my first fill. I have lost 26 lbs since Dec 12th and at this point I can eat anything. I can't eat as much as I used to so I am bouncing back and forth on the scale. I feel I need a fill to help with the "grazing" if I can just stay not hungry enough then I won't think so much about food. I envy you your will power. -
I am a chocoholic. Damn Valentine's Day!!!! Been eating a couple of pieces a day. BAD ME!!!
-
Between the Kids' Birthdays and valentine's day there has been a surplus of chocolate in the house. Now it is all gone, cuz I ate it!!! But, now I am going to get back on track. I haven't had a fill yet, and I am trying to do this on my own and it is hard. Hopefully I will be getting a fill next month, in the mean time there won't be anymore chocolate in the house!!!!

You have an amazing talent for blogging. You made me laugh, cry and you inspired me. I lost my 94 year Grandmother last year and My 91 year old Grandpa has dementia. they were married for 55 years. I miss them both so much. I look forward to reading more from you. -
Having terrible pain. Ate steak last night and think I ate to much. No solids today. Had some refried beans and cheese and now the pain is worse. What have I done?

Did My Band Slip?
Lilygirl40 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Lapbandbarbie, first....LOVE THE NAME!!! hahahaha That is great!!! I believe the meat digested at some point. it was the digesting that was hard for the tummy. It got swollen and irritated. Finally woke up this morning without much pain at all so all seems to be good. These first couple of months sure are a learning process. Lesson number 1...don't get cocky about you can eat. Follow the protocol. -
Did My Band Slip?

WOW 10 hours. That's good to know. I tend to be a little paranoid about stuff. Warm fluids do help. I just wish it would heal faster!! I am so exhausted from not eating. All I want to do is sleep and I HAVE to go to work. ggggrrrr.... -

You should call your doctor. Also, go to liquids completely for a few days. If you irritated your tummy then it is probably swollen and angry. Finally after 4 days the tightness and pain are starting to ease up. I haven't even had a fill yet. If I am doing good by next week maybe then, but you should for sure go to straight liquids and wait a few days to see if that helps, but in the meantime, call your doc. -
So Frustrated...
Lilygirl40 replied to bri_belcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have to cook for my stepkids or they would be eating out all the time. It is hard and it seems like it will never get easier, but I have learned that the people on this forum are the best people to come to for advice. they are just like everyone else, struggling to create a better lifestyle for themselves. When your family eats in front of you, leave the room. Until you can eat with them, it is just going to make you cry. And you may not be able to eat what they do for a long time. -
Did My Band Slip?
Lilygirl40 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talked to my doc. She says to go liquid for a few days. More than likely it's not a slip. Probably that steak has irritated my tummy. So, will do liquids for a while and see what happens. She said it takes alot for the band to slip so I should be okay as I haven't been vomiting. Jiust have to be nice to the tummy for a bit. Lortab every 6 hours is helping with pain so I should be good. No more steak for me!!! -

I have really fallen off the wagon. I went for my 4 week check up....no fill. I have been eating like crazy. I am afraid that I have stretched my pouch and have ruined everything. I am so mad at myself right now. I still can't eat like I used to, but I have been eating bad stuff and more often. I am hoping that someone can tell me that I haven't completely F)*&&^^^ up. Really bummed out here. Why am I doing this? I went through so much to get here and now I am ruining it. Am I being too hard on myself or do I need to be harder? Back to work tomorrow and back on track for sure. Any words of advice, pep talk, or A!@ chewing is greatly appreciated!!!!

4 week post op. No fill till 2 months out. Feb 11 I get a fill. No, did not throw out post op diet, just ignored it the last 4 days. Gained 2 pounds. Doctor doesn't know I fell off wagon and god willing never will!!! I've realized I'm a boredom eater. The stepkids kinda stress me out too and I find myself eating more than I should. Just need someone to tell me I haven't ruined everything. Need a butt chewing i guess.

I am 4 weeks post op and am stuck at 18 pounds lost. It is very frustrating. Do I need a fill or go back to liquid (don't want to go back to liquids) diet? I have my 4 week check on Wednesday, I think i am going to ask for a fill. It will be my first. Another 10 pounds or so and I will be able to fit in my old jeans. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Have I Plateaued Already?
Lilygirl40 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the great advice!!! I tend to be hard on myself adn think that I should be losing weight everyday. I need to stop doing that. -
Surgery on Dec 12th everything went great. Dr. fixed a few things wrong with me and I feel GREAT!!! It took me four years to come to this decision to lap band. I had to have emergency surgery after my hysterectomy four years ago and it happened to be Dr. Machado doing the surgery. She told me I was a perfect candidate for the surgery. Four years later here I am....HUNGRY!!! I am afraid of stretching out my pouch. How much and how fast should I be drinking protein and water? Can I eat, wait, then eat again? I am hungry and I need to be able to function at work (use my brain) Is it super easy to stretch it out or is it something that happens when you don't follow protocol? I am happy and lost 13 Lbs already and haven't gotten my first fill yet. Hopefully on the 11th of January I will. I am hoping that I won't be as hungry after that. Cannot wait to be somewhat "skinny" hahahahaha

Questions Questions Questions!!!!
Lilygirl40 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The most difficult time of the day is when i cook for my family. Everything smells so good and I get angry that I can't have any. Then my mind starts telling me i am hungry. gggrrrr It is good that there is this forum where i can talk to experienced banders. Makes me feel even more confident that I can do this. Does the needle for the fill hurt? -
Questions Questions Questions!!!!
Lilygirl40 replied to Lilygirl40's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Okay, thank you. I am learning the difference between head hunger and tummy hunger. It is a hard process. I have lost 16lbs so far so that is good. This must just be my hungry stage. I figured that the food wasn't staying in the pouch but am paranoid as i am so excited about this new journey in my life. Dieting sucks!!! hahahahaha Trying to follow the Doc's plan exactly. Is there such a thing as too much Protein and should I be drinking protein when I am hungry if I have reached the 60 -80 grams a day already? I notice that Water helps too, but am afraid of drinking too much and stretching. Thanks for your advice.
