Each person's recovery is different, and the fact that it's going slowly isn't a bad thing. If you see even a tiny improvement each day, let that encourage you. I never awoke in a sweat but I did wake up regularly every 4 hours needing my meds. It took me a few days to feel good enough to drop the heavy meds and switch to Tylenol. That kept me comfortable enough so that I was able to sleep a little longer. Each day has gotten a bit better, and believe it or not, it won't be that long before you do feel more human!
2. Doreen, Do they have any support groups in your area that you could attend? Also, we have a UK thread here that provides support also. This is such a great site I'm sure you'll find a spot here where you feel comfortable and can provide the support you need to help you lose more.
3. Terry, Quick question, are you really 92 years of age, or do you mean 29? Is that a typo? If not, I'd say you belong in the Guiness Book of World Records!
4. Hi Bamalama, When I told my 30 year old son about my surgery he got p.o.'d because I wouldn't be able to help him move to his first house! He wanted to know why I couldn't change the surgery date! When my husband heard what my son had said he had a fit, and said don't dare change the surgery, this is a matter of my health. I also think my dh must have said something to my son later because since then I haven't heard a whine out of him! I guess sometimes our children's selfishness rears it's ugly head!

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if I had irritated the area with some of the stretching and moving around I've been doing. Also, when I use the recliner I really tend to stretch and pull those muscles a bit to raise the foot part. I'll try to take it a little easier when I move things around for awhile.
6. If you do a search on this site you should find a thread that lists all the most common abbreviations.

I started wearing my bra (not wire) about 3 days out. I haven't had any problems with it rubbing, it's just I was so bloated at first that I was uncomfortable wearing it after several hours. Now, 16 days post-op there's no problem. Question, does anyone else's port continue to give them problems? I'm find during the day, but for the last 4 nights, I haven't been able to sleep well. It seems like my port area is more sensitive than before and I've had to get up at night because I wake up and can't find a comfortable spot. I ended up on the recliner last night, which is the first time in almost 2 weeks that I've had to resort to it. I looked in the mirror and the area around the port seems a little red. Any comments or suggestions?

Length of hospital stay

Angeldarling I was actually in the hospital a little less than 24 hours, which included an overnight.
9. I just hightlighted a ticker and it took me to the site. After I created one, etc. I copied it to my User CP area under signature and it worked. Good luck!
10.
Hi Cascavel,

I believe there is a thread here for folks with a BMI over 50 and also folks above 300 lbs. I think their thread is aiming for the 200's or something like that. I hope you find some answers here as this is a great group.

I have arrived

Congratulations Kwalla! Let us know how your doing. Also, why don't you check out the May 2007 Bansters thread. We were all banded in May and it's a great group!

port relocation

Hi Eileen, I can't help you with that question, but did you ask the doctor if he would do that procedure? I can see where if it's bothering you because of your bra, that something might be done. Maybe someone here has had a similar problem, not because of the bikini issue, but because of the bra issue.

Thank God I found this forum....

LOL! That's exactly who I thought it was, but I don't think so.

Cindi, I did start the pureed today and it's made a big difference. I also think psychologically being able to have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner of something other than the liquids mentally satisfies me better. So far I've not had a problem by pushing it up 3 days, and I really didn't think it would matter. And just think, by the 4th of July, we will be eating real food (just a small amount though, hah!)
16. Kacee and GayleTX said it best. And the fact that your dh is on your side is the best thing of all. Ignore those naysayers, go to the seminar, and if it seems right for you, go for it! I have been Miss Whiner here a couple of times over the past weeks since surgery, but I really believe this is the best thing I could have ever done for myself. You go girl!
17. Hi, and welcome. Come join the May 2007 bandsters group. We've all had the surgery (or will have it) in May!
18. Hi Quinn, Welcome to the forum. There is great advice here. Look around and check out if there is a July bandster forum started yet. Good luck!

Post op diet

Annie, I think mushies is way too soon for you. I was on Clear Liquids for 4 days, 10 days of full liquids, finally now I'm on pureed for 2 weeks, then soft for 2 weeks, and finally regular food. I'd go back to clear liquids for a day or so until your stomach settles down, then go to full liquids. I'm not a doc, but I would be a bit more conservative with my food until I feel better.

Still Left Out

I certainly don't believe your not part of the team. I do think that your right in saying that people want to hear from others who are experiencing what they are experiencing now, but I've found your comments to be interesting and helpful. After all, I want to know what it's going to be like in the future. I have a long time to live with this band (I hope!) and once the newness of everything is gone, I want to know how living everyday life is!

Full Liquid stage

My doc says no liquid 30 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after at that stage at the clear liquid and full liquid stage. It then is supposed to go to 1 hour after by the time I'm on regular food.

Yes, I know what you're saying. As far as bms, someone said in another thread...liquid in, liquid out! (which makes sense to me!) It's also taking me a lot longer to recooperate than I thought it would. So, I just have to take it one day at a time and be encouraged that there is steady, but slooooow progress. Again, I didn't even plan on returning to work soon. My doc said he prefers his patients be off of work for 2 weeks, which is what I chose to do, and I'm just adding 2 extra days on because I'm not crazy about having to go back and I've got STD that will cover most of my time off. The hunger and boring diet are driving me nuts. I should stay on full liquids another 3 days, but I've decided to go to the next phase (pureed) tomorrow. It says in my paperwork from the doctor that everyone advances at different stages, to take it easy, and don't skip any steps in the process. Well, I'm moving up my food by 3 days because I think I'm ready for it and that 2 weeks of full liquids is too long. Also, I think I'd have more energy if I advance to the next step and get something with a little more substance into me. I don't care if the protein I get in the shakes is good, I don't think it can stay with me as well as something more solid.
23. I agree that I'd wait a few months before coming to a decision, but, at that point, if I still wanted some type of bypass surgery, I'd say no, I'm not having a band again, and look at my other options.

Mal, you're in my prayers. Let's hope that whatever the problem is can be resolved without a removal.
