4 Yrs. Later My Surgeon Says He "doesn't Believe In Lap Band"
tflemon67 replied to rustymarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't blame you. You paid good money there is nothing wrong with the band and now that he has your funds he won't give you a fill and most likely because he doesn't know HOW to give you a proper fill. Inexperienced and got into this field to take the money and run. There are lots of doctors who will take you on, just keep looking. -

Heading To The Hospital- Today Is The Day

You are in my thoughts and prayers! All will be well, wishing you a speedy recovery! -
20 lbs in two months is AWESOME, you went on vacation and only gained 1.5 lbs! You are a ROCKSTAR! Be patient you'll get your first fill and really start kicking butt! Keep the good work!

Get some body armour, it's like roll on deordarant but it's for runners to keep you from chafing, also always wear self wicking fabrics. You can find Body Armour at a running store, academy or order it online at Amazon. About $12 bucks, it's a life saver and it'll keep you from developing bleeding nipples when you go on longer runs. Women don't get the chafing nipples because of the sports bras. Good luck and happy running!

Shake up your exercise, our bodies are smart sneaky little devils and they learn to adapt. Add 2-3 days of an exercise you don't currently do. You'll probably see some movement in 3-4 weeks.

Awesome, 100 pounds with no fill you are totally a Rockstar! Keep up the good work!

I had a planned c-section and besides a little discomfort I don't remember anything bad about it. I didn't even take the strong pain medicine because I wanted to have a sound mind with my baby. If the lap band is easier than my c-section then I'll have no problems at all! Although I did get a beautiful baby girl to concentrate on after surgery and 7 years of no success, I may have just been deliriously happy

Day 5 Post Op And I'm Starving
tflemon67 replied to deb32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if you can take diet pills after surgery to help with the hunger. I'm definitely using Phentermine afterwards, I tried to go 4 hours with just my Protein shake and I was starving to death. My pre-op diet is one shake for Breakfast, lunch and a low-fat evening meal. I know I get two 100 calorie Snacks. I don't know how I'm doing this without appetite suppressants, you can't take them 2 weeks before surgery. A lot of Water, exercise and prayer. I've never hungry after I work out. -
How To Get Past The Negativity?
tflemon67 replied to soon to be the new me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please, please, please ignore these people and do what is best for you. It's not always about damn will power. I myself managed to lose 68 lbs and gained 40 of it back. I worked out and ran every single day to get 68 lbs off. I'm sorry it's just not very realistic to think you can work out every single day to keep weight off. Sometimes you need a little assistance, you still have to do the work but the band is a tool that is effective at helping you get the weight off and keeping it off. I myself have not shared my surgery plans with anyone but my soon to be ex-husband and only because he's my ride on the surgery date. It's nobody's business but your own. -

Unjury Brand Vitamins, Protein Powder
tflemon67 replied to slojo67's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I won't start my pre-op diet until August 13th but I've been making Unjury Vanilla protein shakes for breakfast with a few strawberries blended in. It's very tasty! After surgery I won't be able to have milk or the added fruit for a while but I will be able to have the unjury with just water. I haven't tried it with water just yet. I started with the vanilla and unflavored and I'll order the chocolate and starter kit this week. -
Quinoa is actually really tasty, I prepare it in a rice cooker with chicken stock, onions, garlic and butter. Yum even my 12 year likes it!

Why Not Sleeve? Surgeon Consult Friday
tflemon67 replied to drexelgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a 14 day antibiotic treatment for H-pylori in my stomach. It's caused me to have 3 peptic ulcers. Although the antibiotics should kill the bacteria it could come back and I would have to be treated again. It can be treated if my stomach is banded but if I get the sleeve than H-pylori can't be treated. Since H-pylori leads to ulcers and stomach cancer it's best that I stick to the band. -

One Month Bandiversary!
tflemon67 replied to RobinGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome job, 20 lbs in one month without a fill! Keep up the good work! -
Great advice, when I went in for my EDG they were super busy. Some people were there to be banded, some follow-ups and some were there for fills. The waiting room was completely filled. I knew then that all appointments will have to be in the afternoons and I won't expect to be able to go back to work. I'm excited, I can't wait until August 23rd to get here.
