    True Results

Yes they wil. The entire surgery is $9900 and they will finance at $235 per month for 5 years if you are not approved by Care Credit. Luckily I did have a hernia so my portion of the band is $5500. I'll pay $266.42 per month for 2 years. Worth every dime. My surgeon is Dr. Reilly through True Results Houston. Good luck, DON'T GIVE UP!!

    Terrified!

Calm down, I'm 21 days post-op. I vomitted once right after surgery, they tell you to expect to vomit maybe 1 or 2 times. Your stomach will be empty so it won't be much. They give you suppositories to combat the vomitting. No reflux or any other difficulties and I had a small fill at surgery. Some people do have complications but that doesn't mean you will. I think we all go through panic mode right before surgery I know I did, paid attention to all the horror stories and didn't look at all the success stories. You'll be fine.

    my share of the band

I had the hernia and band done the same day. I returned to work the following Tuesday, August 28th but I should have taken more time off. I ended up going home early until the 31st it was very difficult for me to sit in one place because of all the CO2 gas that they pump in you during surgery. It would be in my back and no matter what I would do I couldn't get rid of it, finally after about 3 weeks it went away and I feel really good no issues. Make sure you let them know that you're travelling from out of state they are very accommodating. I had an excellent patient advocate Rachel Castelman, she held my hand through the whole process. They'll give you a packet called "Roadmap to Surgery", follow the roadmap and you'll get there quickly. Looking at my paperwork my initial consult was 5/17, EGD on 6/25 and surgery on 8/23. They actually wanted to do surgery in July so you can get this done in 90 days. Let me know how you get along.

    my share of the band

My first appt with True Results was in May. I had my EGD to determine whether or not I had a hernia was on June 25th and they wanted to schedule my surgery in July. I had to wait until August 23rd because I had already had a pre-planned cruise scheduled on August 5th and I didn't want to be banded before my cruise. They were really quick, because I had the hernia my portion of the surgery was $5500 and my insurance would pay for the hernia repair and cover the anesthesia but if I didn't have the hernia then the cost of the total surgery would have been $9888 which is the cash price that they would finance at $235 per month for 5 years if you can't get financed by Care Credit. I applied for Care Credit but was turned down, so True Results is doing my financing and all I had to do is provide them with a cancelled check and debit card number. My payments are due on the 23rd of each month. I had to put me first and I'll gladly pay the $266.42 monthly for two years to add a major tool to my fight against this deadly obesity. I'm down 10 lbs since August 23rd and hoping for more next month. Good luck to you don't give up! There's more than one way to skin a cat!

    my share of the band

I didn't have to pay any down payment on my portion of the $5500, they will begin taking out the $266 from my checking account monthly on the 23rd.

    Woooo Hoooo!

Me too, I don't think I could log on for a few days! I felt like I had been hit by a TRUCK! lol But here I am 21 days post-op and I feel dynomite!
  7. My band is super funny. I had my protein shake for breakfast which is really yummy if you mix it with Silk Protein juice. I love Mango. Then for lunch broiled fish and mashed potatoes. Well I didn't get much of the fish or mash potatoes down and I thought I was a little hungry tried yogurt and nope I'm full. Thanks Bandy!

  8. Lots of water when drinking all this protein people even more than usual. I had the worst stomach cramps last night and couldn't sleep. Not enough water with the protein and it caused major stomach issues. 64 oz of water daily normally with the additional of the protein shakes I'm adding 32 additional ounces of water!

    Medical Mutual ? Discouraged:/

My insurance absolutely would not cover weight loss surgery, most employers have the option to either include or exclude of course my plan excludes. I was able to get my band via a hernia repair (which IS covered). I'm responsible for the cost of the band which is $5500 (True Results - Houston). True Results is financing the $5500 portion at $267 per month for 2 years. I plan to try and wipe most of it out next year and its a covered medical expense under FSA. Hopefully you'll be able to find another way of getting your band paid for. Contact True Results if there is one in your area.

    Bandster Rules

Great list and protein is UBER important. Get those protein shakes in for Breakfast and Lunch and a well balanced meal at dinnertime. Exercise is very important, the weight is not coming off without effort. Good luck on your band and here's to a speedy recovery. I'm 13 days post-op and I feel I'm just about back to normal!

Just checked out your blog, you and your sister ROCK! Keep killing it! AWESOME, I'm a fellow runner, I have two halfs under my belt but I had gotten UBER lazy before my lapband surgery. You have inspired me to get off my lazy butt and get back to training!

    August Roll Call

12 days Post op, feeling much better. Even exercising, still residual gas in my back at night and when I'm sitting in one spot all day at work. I can't wait until the gas issue is finally resolved!

    Question For The Girls

I've had a little breakthrough light bleeding not much I'm so glad to see that it may just be from the blood thinners I had last week prior to surgery. It's happened about twice since surgery and I'm not do for a cycle for a couple of weeks. Good to know.

  16. This is good to know, I got a picture of my band and a pic of the x-ray after the barium swallow. I think I must have some type of fill because very little keeps me going. This week I start the mushies, so glad to be able to have yogurt!! Yum, yum.

    Inspiration - You Are Awesome!

OMG, I'm FAT GIRL! I purposely run at 4:30 AM to avoid being seen by the "real" runners. I feel so inadequate but I love to run no matter how slow. I will keep my head up and not be ashamed what I choose to do is an accomplishment and I should be PROUD! Thanks for this, hitting the running path tomorrow in the DAYLIGHT!!

    Unjury Protein Powder

Good to know, I have one of the strawberry sorbet samples with me today. I'll have it with Crystal light instead. Really tired of the milk shakes and I've got enough gas! LOL
  19. Good to know, I was banded on August 23rd and I do get hungry but fill up on very little. I'm not sure if my doc did a small fill at the time of surgery. I'm scheduled for my first fill September 25th, I will surely ask.

    Length Of Hospital Stay

My surgery was outpatient as well. Surgery at 11 am and I was discharged by 5 pm. I'm doing well but I wished I would have had an overnight stay. There is follow-up care via the nurse the next day but only by phone. They did the x-rays and barium test all the same day.

My Lungs Hurt 2 Days Post Op

I was given a little breathing aparatus and instructed to use it every hour to help inflate the lungs and stave off pneumonia. You need to call your Dr.'s office you don't want pneumonia to set in.

    August Roll Call

Officially 1 week post op and I'm glad it's here! A little rough the first week but it gets better by the day, believe that. Day 1, I would have never believed I would feel this good by day 7! Looking forward to 2 weeks post-op! Getting hungrier each day, my stomach actually growels now but it's quickly shut up with half a protein shake. By the half, I'm not hungry anymore. My first fill is September 25th!! I'm not regretting my choice, now to feel good enough to run again, tomorrow will be the test!

    Bandster Hell???

My doctor actually showed me pics of the hernia repair and the band. I'm only 1 week post-op but it seems I have some type of restriction I'm not hungry and very little fills me up. Hopefully you'll make it to your first fill. Keep the faith!!
  24. I was banded on last Thursday as well. I returned on yesterday and I'm sorry I only made it until about 4:40 pm and I'll leave early again today. I've been here since 6:45 AM so I don't feel so bad but sitting in one spot all day makes the damn gas go to my back AND if I don't sit up straight my abdomen is extremely sore. I'm waiting until I get home to take my meds, a bath and go to bed. Thankfully, the 3 day weekend of coming!! Feel better soon!!!
