I am 5days post op and wondering: 1) does anyone have headaches 2) are you able to get 600 calories in? I am landing around 200-300 calories a day I still feel pretty good but thinking that I will be feeling weak soon.

Thanks hon, nothing quite like care from moma, especially when you're a moma/gramma yourself - it's hard to let others take care of you for a change. I'm so glad for you that you have that support system! I am doing better. No fever anymore however this morning after I took my antibiotic, I got woozy and almost passed out with slurred speech and all. had to lay down for about 30 min to catch my breath again... and now I feel like a new woman! Dr. Campos and Dr. Aceves have been excellent and I called my PCP to give me the clear to go home. How do you feel?

Thanks to everyone for their help and insight. I just had another lead test done and it came back negative I feel much better and look forward to returning home.

Yes, I am blowing on my balls, that is a great idea to call my PCP for direction.

Has anyone experienced this post op? I am debating whether I should agree to leave Mexacali before this has run it's course? I am taking a super sweet antibiotic that makes me feel yucky and breathing into a nebulizer. Can anyone chime in about their experience? I'm a bit scared to leave here and go home.

Ok so when they took the x-ray they said that I had "Atelectasis" and that my lungs weren't filling completely (hence the nebulizer and antibiotics). I have been walking and blowing balls every hour so not sure why this happened. I have to tell you that Dr. Aceves made me feel so good when I asked for another leak test, he said "absolutely no problem". He was not dismissive or upset because I asked him. He said "Why don't you stay until you feel better". He spoke openly to me about leaks and while he was very confident in his work, his true desire was to make me better and to go to great lengths to make sure I felt comfrotable before going home. Thank god I came here to Mexacali!

Just took a nebulizer and an antibiotic.... I have asked for a leak test since I am scheduled to go home tomorrow.

It has been fluxuating between 99 and 101.8F.

I just did a leak test about 7 hours ago with a barium swallow, do you think I need to do another one?

ok, so I am still in Hospital Almater and they just took an xray to see that my lung hasn't expanded properly so they are going to give me an antibiotic, does that sounds right? has anyone else has a lung problem a couple days after surgery?

Thanks all for your insights! They gave me some narcotics and now I pee whenever I need to so I'm all good. I can't wait to take a shower but that's a whole other thread Thanks a million.

Is that normal to not be able to pee even though you have too. I was wheeled into srgery at 8:30 am and I haven't peed all day, I feel like I have go but when i get there. NADA I can't get anything out... I don't want a catheter so they gave me narcotics. Has anyone else had this experience?

All, I am leaving tomorrow for Mexacalli and just wondering if I will every be able to eat like a regular albeit healthy person ever again? Those of you long time losers - in order to get 70-90 grams of protein into a day of calories (600-1200 calories) do you need to always drink protein shakes? are you long timers still drinking protein shakes daily or do you find that you are able to get what you need from a healthy diet?
