I am almost 4 weeks post op and get very dizzy while I am standing up. Sometimes it happens when I get up quickly and other times it is when I am just standing. The other day I almostassed out in the grocery store. Kinda scary.. I am drinking 70-90 oz fluid daily and getting in 70+g protein and 600-800 cal per day. My pcp has asked me to increase my cal to 1000 cal per day and increase my sodium. I have a low bmi so I am happy to do that. I also had a calf cramp for almost 2 weeks. Pcp is testing for blood clots.

Crate and Barrel has them and most other cooking stores (Ie Williams Sonoma, Sur la Table and I'll bet Target has them as well) Enjoy! They are fun! -

windycitymom replied to windycitymom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Great Ideas folks! at the end of the day, I am sticking to Mashed Potatoes and yogurt and Peanut Butter I can't wait to eat again (in my mind) and it really has been a lesson in 21 days of head hunger and noticing that my tummy can take it or leave it -

Comin Along On My New Way Of Life
windycitymom commented on gramaof4's blog entry in gramaof4's Blog
You are a strong woman G4! You are capable of anything you set your mind to!!! My little guys love their sweets but also have the ability to walk away from half a cookie if they are full (something I never learned or ignored in my life.....) so now I'm trying to make a game of it. I am buying cookies and sweets that kids enjoy in moderation and keeping them on the counter which is something I've never been able to do because I work from home and would eat them all before the kids got home from school. I'm testing myself and my resolve in this. I'm making it a game of the better the cookie the more my "exercise" of self control. Not sure how long it will last but for now I've got my mind wrapped around that. We're all in this together, you are not alone, keep that in mind. I miss seeing you and your bright smilin face!! -
Hello Sleevers, I've had a feber on and off for about 36hrs and I had surgery on Monday at 9AM. Should I worry? I am in Mexacali scheduled to fly home tomorrow, should I worry about my fever? They've given me Tylenol but hasn't really fixed it yet. What should I do? Not sure I am up for the 4 and a half hour flight and 3 hour drive...

Sleeved 2/27/12 By Dr. Alvarez In Mexico
windycitymom replied to BAV123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't worry, I was sleeved same day and only down 9 lbs. I am following the post op diet to a Tee! And I am walking. I started with a low bmi but feel like drinking chicken broth for 2 wks should be more than 9 lbs... -
What's cormeal mush? Do you recommend it? Glad to hear about your walk, you keep it up, congrats. I am taking the chewable vitamins from costco, anyone else taking vitamins? I am so sick of cream of everything soup.... I haven't lost anything in almost a week, is that normal to have a stall in week 2????

Oh my sg, How are you doing today? How in the world did you get all those ailments? I'm worried about you keep me posted via pm if you can. Dooter, thanks for the input I hope your right! I forgot that I walked for 45 min on the day that I inhaled so many cal via soup. I feel like I sip soup all day long so today I only sipped 2/3 of my soup and then switched to Water. G4, keep up the great work. Did you spit out the potatoe in the soup? I had mushroom and did same. How did your .25 mike go? You go girl, keep it up, you know damn well what you're doing I'm proud of you!

No more fevers here. I hope you're ok. Check out my thread about fever, there were a couple folks with low grade fevers up to 2 weeks after surgery. I think I read that somewhere else that it's ok. What did gaby say? How are you doing otherwise? I am starving and think I had 900cal in just soups and pudding yesterday, my first full liquid day. I am worried that I don't have much restriction...

I have two words for you honey "quiet resolve". Focus on you right now, get healthy and get in touch with your goals of having fun with those kiddies. You are 110% worth it!! All I know is that I've met you and if anyone is capable and strong enough to handle this treatment physically and mentally - it's you. When you are feeling good about your self you might make other decisions about the role that he plays in your life however not is not the time. Just make sure that you don't carry the heaviness of his statements on your back, you don't need that and I know you and you are strong enough to just brush it off while taking note of it. Folks always say not to make too many big decisions all at one (ie job loss, divorce, death etc I would put WLS right up there as well). Take the good that he has to give and brush off the bad not letting it affect you and you'll be fine. Love ya, Lisa

Alvarez, Garcia, Kelly Or Aceves?
windycitymom replied to windycitymom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I wish you the very best on your process. For me, I felt very comfortable paying a bit more as I was very scared going to Mexico and going alone. Now that I am 1 wk post op, I am thrilled that I did because I had some minor complications (atelectasis-due to my anatomy and not due to the surgeon). I thank god for the care that I receveived. I ended up changing my flight and coming home a day late so that I could get extra care. The hospital was so well equipped I was taken care of extremely well. Lastly, I found out there was a 5.3 earthquake while I was there. I had no idea as there was no loss of power or even flicker of lights. I say all this just to ask you to please check to make sure the facility is top notch. I've heard great things about dr. Kelly so Im sure he is great just make sure that the hospital is equipped to take the very best care of your most important asset - YOUR BODY because without that what's a couple thousand dollars. Please keep us all updated! No matter what your choice, I wish you the very best and can't wait to hear how your doing. -

Has anyone tried the New Whey Protein 42G of protein shots? it is whey isolate and it is tough to get down. Just wondering if anyone has tried watering it down or anything to make it more appetizing? -

Just Returned From Mexicali... And Still Smiling!
windycitymom replied to SmilinGal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Danity, I was scared about the epidural as well. Here is my perspective, I chose to have 2 kids with no epidural or any pain meds that's how I feel about epidural however I've also never had surgery so I was open to it. I had no idea when they were giving it to me. I think the anesthesiologist was the nicest warmest person ever and he will do whatever you want. There was another gal who was there with us (I was there with Smilingal) and she just pretty much slept the day off right after her surgery. Comparatively I (who had the epi) was up walking around and chatty however the 2nd day I was in pain when the epi wore off. The other gal who slept the first day was doing much better on day 2 so basically, it just felt like we switched days. If you get the epi, your pain comes on Day 2 and if you don't you get it Day 1. Make sense? -
