Use Your First Six Months Wisely

Thank you for your honesty june13. With your input, my eyes are WIDE OPEN! Can you give us some ideas about what youve chosen to replace those habits with when you get hungry or want to eat?

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

I appreciate June13sleevers initial post. Being almost 9months post op, I can see how things are changing and how I am starting to revert back to old habits if I am not focused and detmined to succeed that day. I haven't had a problem with regain but feel that if I could if I'm not careful. I was a low BMI starting at right around BMI=29.5 and the doctor took out roughly 80% of my tummy so I think I was kinda cocky to begin with. My sugar addiction and emotional overeating are still issues in my life that I must deal with every day. I learned some new habits along the way and work with a coach to help find new habits to keep me successfull otherwise I just feel like a fat girl in skinny girl clothing!

Keep up the great work! Lisa

    Fab And Flab

All, This has been a great journey and I am terrible greatful for where I am at. I am finding that with the sudden weight loss, though I exercise roughly 3 times a week (cardio mostly), I am very poorly defined. I am 45 yo and not looking to enter any contests however I am looking for some definition between the bottom of my tooshy and the back of my knees as well as toning in other areas. Are there any cost effective, easy resources to help those of us who are challenged with knowing what to do weights to learn how to set goals and accomplish them in the weight room. IE like the couch to 5k website but for weight lifting?? Thanks, WCM
  8. HI there, Congrats! I was a low BMI start weight as well. I am 7mo post op and feel like I have loose skin. My workouts are more cardio than weight lifting so I am going to gear up for a weight lifting plan to take care of it. I'm thinking that age has alot of to do with it as well. I'm 45 yo but wasn't that heavy for my entire life just after the kids Honestly, I think it all starts in our heads and with our decisions. Just a make a good decision each and every day and you'll be happy!

    Guzzling?

Why is it bad to guzzle water or any other drink after the sleeve? Does it stretch the sleeve?
  10. windycitymom

    Guzzling?

Thanks all! I am 6 1/2 mo post op so I am trying to figure out which rules still apply. I am able to guzzle fairly well without getting sick. I love Water and crystal light and just wondering if I am doing any harm to my sweet sleeve...... I really appreciate your input. I don't think I was able to guzzle until now either~! You all are awesome, thanks for your input.

    Advice Please....

The answer to this question lies inside your heart. How do you feel about the attention that will come your way if you "show it off". Are you prepared to discuss how it is that you have accomplished this? Did you tell people that you were going to have surgery? Are you not telling people? I am sure you've had to answer this question many times already since you have been so successful however it sounds like you may have a barrage of this to deal with in a concentrated dosage! I would rehearse with yourself how you will react when folks mention something and when folks don't mention something about how awesome you look. Because I guarantee you'll get both. Own your success and wear it well - in clothes and in spirit!! Either way, you are beautiful in clothes that are too large and in clothes with perfect fit!

    Me Not So Horny......

All, I'm 5 months post op and reading about others getting horny. I don't get it. I have no sex drive at all. My husband is wonderful and has been a rock for me and my family. He is the best partner, father and emotional support a gal could ask for. I find him to be adorable and handsome and sexy much of the time but have no energy or desire to do anything about it. We both have always led very stressful lives which may be the cause however I was hoping to feel the sexy horny thing but it's not happenin. Anyone else had this?

    Should I Or Shouldn't I?

LIssa, I would wait and let things shift around since you are still losing (even if slowly prior to last month). You never know how things are going to shift. You can always go in for surgery but you can't always undo it. Wait until you're stable. Looks like you want to lose another 50lbs, will you get surgery again then? It can't hurt to wait. WCM

    Guys - Be Honest Please.

I'd say the pain was a 2 on post op day 1 if even that. I had a fever with some long complications so honestly, I don't really remember having pain. I will tell you though I gave birth to two children without any pain meds at all so I probably have a high threshold for pain although I still dry with needles..... BTW, I purchased 4-5 boxes of the pain meds and I never even opened the box. They tried to give me pain meds in the hospital and I think I took them day 1 but my tummy didn't feel great so I refused them after that and I was more than fine (just excited about what was in store for me!)

    Me Not So Horny......

Thanks all, I guess I don't feel so "off" now.
  20. Hello, I am only 5 months post op and eat roughly 900-1600 calories/day. I can certainly contribute a few days to grazing but not most of the time. I can just eat more. I am 13 pounds from goal and worry that my sleeve was not tight enough. I am working out regularly and seeing a social worker to work on my emotional eating/stress management. I've added a dietician to my team and will meet her this week. I am curious to know. How far out are you and how many calories are you eating in a day? Thanks! BTW, no it's not ice cream although I do enjoy Shelley's Protein ice cream once or twice a month. I don't eat bread. My worry is the long term success, if I can eat this many calories now, what will it be like in a year?
  21. Thanks all, I really appreciate it! I think my new NUT on board is going to be here at just the right time to help me determine what my personal numbers should be.
  22. Thanks, I am windcitymom on MFP. Yes, it is a wide range, when I focus and restrain myself I am around 800/900 cal. I just feel I should be lower being only 5 months out. Iam eating alot of cheese now that I am sick of eggs. I like turkey deli meat but also do alot of Protein drinks. I just bought the dummy cookbook and can't wait to dive in
  23. So excited - I am 5 months post op and whenever I press the preset for my car seat the position that it goes to is too far from the steering wheel. I need to push the seat up much closer now
