    Liver To Big

Yea that is scary, I think all of us going into this type of surgery worries about our liver not shrinking. I mean you lost 20 pounds and one would think that would be enough to perform gastric banding. Its so crazy to think that some surgeons don't even require a pre-op diet. It certaintly sends mixed signals around the board. However, we now have full proof that you need to stay strict to what 'your' surgeon's requirements are... You can do this FOXY747!!!!

    Acid Reflux, (Help) How Long???

They did not do an upper gi series pre-op testing because I have no history of acid reflux. They do check for hiatial hernias during the surgery and repair it while getting banded. Yes, I do burp/belch all day long, even after drinking Water. Yes, I do trust these surgeons they are the best in NJ that we have. There are 4 surgeons on call at all times no matter who I get they are very very good. She did mention to give it some time that they have patients who never had reflux and get it after being banded, but it goes away over time. I have to say looking at my tongue from weeks ago to now its a huge difference, its pink and not covered in white anymore, thank goodness for that! If this persists I am certain she will do some testing on me, Thanks for your help that means a lot

I Had To Come Back To This Thread

I am so lucky I have found this site. It helped prepare me for what I 'might' expect after surgery. I know what I have to do to get through. I have met a wonderful friend on here who has litterally helped me through this journey before, during , and after! I am doing everything by the book, even though I have hit a bump in the road right now (not of any fault of mine). I am dealing with this now and I am thankful I have my friend Missy their to give me reassurance and encouragement (she is the pro). I have read the good, bad, and ugly. Even with all that I did what I felt was right for me and I was going to make sure I put every effort to use this band as a tool only. I have to admit, I was scared reading some things that were posted, and at times I did cry because I was scared. My main goal here is to get healthy and I am going to do whatever I can in my power to get there...

    Dying Of Thirst

Dimples I was the same way, omg I can't tell you how many days went by I just drank drank drank.. I think I drank the mississippi river! I drank so much I made myself full for a few weeks because I couldn't get anything else in. I was able to get in chicken broth mixed with Protein powder so I would have some protein. I am doing a lot better with protein now, I am on mushy but deff. not making my quota. I wake up extremely full of thirst. Even after my meal I have to wait to drink and it drives me insane not to drink anything. I just keep myself busy, talk to someone, play games online. You are still healing, maybe even drink gatorade I swear by that stuff I drank a bottle a day...

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Mushy stages are wonderful! you can really get creative with your foods (soft). I start solids next week, anxious and nervous at the same time. You are doing really great with your weight loss, keep up the great work

    Post Op Day 2

It gets better each passing day/week and you will be able to take in more fluids. Just keep in mind to constantly hydrate yourself. Believe me it is part of the healing process. I practiacally lived on Water and gatorade for 2 weeks. I stopped the gatorade on my 3rd week because I was able to get down other fluids adding Protein powder to it. Best of luck on your progress and keep us all updated along the way

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Hello July Bandsters! Hope everyone is doing really really well. I am now 4 weeks post-op, incisions are still healing but very nicely. Still on the mushy stages for another week.Getting in about 4 ounces of mushy foods down per meal. Drinking tons of water. I had to have air removed from my band as there was air trapped from surgery. I was so nervous, but the surgeon found my port in just seconds and didn't feel anything honestly, it was really nothing. Now , I am sure once I have a fill it will be just a little different adjusting to the band being a little tight. I am not exercising as much as I would like, really some days I have very little energy and some days a burst! As of right now I am satisfied with my portions, as I know this won't last.. Wishing you all great success! Looking forward to hearing from some of you

    Shower After Surgery

I was told the next day, but because I was nervous to do this I waited only doing sponge baths at first. I have dermabond with steri strips that eventually fell off. When I did take my first shower I was just very careful NOT to scrub the incisions, I washed my entire body first and rinsed letting the water fall over my belly. I am 4 weeks post-op and my incisions are still healing, nicely I was told
