    I just don't get it!

Hi Misty, There are so many factors why our weight stalls, gain, etc, when we are following the rules to weight loss. Ask yourself do you track all of your foods daily? Getting in all your Protein? What about your sodium intake? Taking any new/recent medications? What about your caloric intake daily? Menstruation? Do you know how many grams of carbs/sugar you are eating/drinking a day? Everything I wrote above is how I have learned from "personal' experience what I was doing or needed to adjust. We all don't lose the same, what works for one does not work for the other. I find investigating what you are eating/drinking daily by tracking is key, from there you can learn to adjust your nutrients that fits into your lifestyle that works for YOU. Best of luck,

1 year out, and hit a plateau...

Holly, You reached goal!!! OMG, congratulations I am just reading this and wanted to tell you what a wonderful job you have done! You look amazingly gorgeous and so toned/fit!
  15. Every day your body heals you will be able to get back to your normal way of sleeping. For some we had no problems getting right on our belly soon after surgery, for some it takes time. Just to let you know nothing will happen to your band, you can put that fear aside. I got on my belly 3 days after surgery, some even got on their belly right after surgery. I took my time and eased myself into a postion where I was a little half on the side and a little half on the belly in the begining. I did this every day until I got fully on my stomache. (best night sleep ever)! Keep trying every night to ease your way on your belly or side for starters so where you are fully in a comfortable position. (hugs)

    Why yogurt????

H Jennybee! There is a slight consistancy between greek yogurts and the regular ones. Greek yogurts are a tad bit thicker. Can I suggest maybe 'thinning' out your greek yogurts? Maybe with almond milk, or sugar free flavored syrups? (hugs)
  18. Barb, I don't need to say anymore than what our fellow bandsters have said already (great advice). I just want to wish you well and hope that you take care of yourself "healthwise". Best of luck,

1 year out, and hit a plateau...

Hi Tamara, Congratulations on a successful weight loss, 103 lbs that is impressive work! As for the plateaus, yea it bums and it does happen to many of us, including me. I hit a plateau that lasted for almost 5 weeks. The only thing I can say that worked for me was to go back to my food tracker and see what I have been eating and if I needed to work on any of my nutrients. In fact, I found out my carb intake was too high! it was okay in the beginning of my journey when i was taking in about 110-125 grams per day, but since a big huge weight loss my body cannot break down the carbs like it was use to. So, I cut it more than in half and have been losing steadily since. (that was back in October of 2012). I can only speak what works for me, that is tracking everything I eat, exercising daily, and making sure I was reaching my Protein intake of 60 grams or more per day. Give your body time to adjust once you start exercising, this could be what you need to jumpstart your metabolism. Hang in there, this is the toughest part some time, its very frustrating to say the least... Best wishes,

    bread/pasta/tortillas

Hey TattooBeauty, I eat all of the above (in moderation of course), saying that I eat 'good' complex carbs such as whole grains, 100% whole wheat. I do allow myself sometimes potatoes, but for the most part 'white starch' 'white flour' is not on my 'daily' food plan. I have lost a lot of weight as you can see from my ticker, why because I do what works for ME. I just find deprivation of carbs, its just not a realistic way of life for me. Besides, if you do some research you will find that carbs are 'actually' very healthy and needed. For example did you know that carbs protect your muscles, regulates the amount of sugar that circulates in your blood, (your cells do need energy), helps digest food, helps with absorbing your body's Calcium, and it may even help with lowering cholesterol levels and regulate blood pressure (healthy carbs that come from fiber). Monitoring your carbs is a sure way to know how much you are eating during the course of a day. Personally speaking, carbs is a main key nutrient I track daily to ensure my body is getting some of it, but not too much. I believe the "nayers' of carbs are those who are scared of not having control or going back to poor eating habits. I am not speaking of cake and cookie carbs, i am speaking of excellent healthy complex carbs. I have done more than enough of research on carbs to know what is considered 'good' and 'bad' for my body. I feel great, have energy, my skin is just wonderful looking, my hair is healthy, I don't look 'drained' and 'tired', and I beleive its because I do not deprive myself of good complex carbs. Yes, and when I do 'treat' myself to those 'bad' carbs its sparingly and in low moderation. Why just today I had a rice crispie treat I made. Do I feel bad? NO. Because I ate 1, not 2 or 3 or 4. Do what works for you, you control your own destination and succcess.... Best wishes,
