Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

Hi Hanna! Thank you! OMG I have my 'friend' sooooooo bad today. I haven't had it since August I am peri-meno and it suxs because I am not consistance. Yesterday was a high carb and today back into the swings of things, and I am feeeeeeeling the Looooows already. I just drank a yoohoo mixed with skim milk and ice to save me from getting into other things. At least, this isn't too bad and I can fit into my low carb day. Its early, and I hope I don't cave into the sugar monster... LOL How are you doing so far?? -
Hi Melody, Honestly, food for most of us will always be a struggle. The band or any other surgery for that matter does not magically make our weight dissapear. We really do have to work hard at it. Even if you were to have a conversion to bypass, you will find yourself in the same situation. On a good note, you do actually have a tool that can help you, but you have to be willing to put up the good fight (like we all do). The band as you know is not suppose to make you 'full', it suppose to make you feel 'satisfied' on less food. Even though we can eat over a cup of food, we shouldn't (that is the golden rule). A personal note from me to you. You can do this! Believe in yourself! The reason why you had this surgery in the first place is because you want to be healthy and avoid any future health problems. You did the best thing for yourself, now all you have to do is get a plan in action! Start from basics, plan your meals daily and track the food you eat. Speaking with a nutrionisit may be a great idea as you both can sit down together and figure out a meal plan that can work for you. Don't give up on yourself and give this another serious try! Surrounding yourself with people who are supportive is key. You also have people on this site who know exactlly what you are going through. Reading all the success stories on this site can be truly motivating. We are all here for you and rooting you on! I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your weight loss journey... ((hugs))

First Meal After
PattyGirl66 replied to ladymarshall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh, and like you I didn't have a 'mushy' stage it was just considered a 'soft' stage..isnt that wild.. I think, surgeons all around bariatric should unite... -
First Meal After

Crazy, how all surgeons are different. I had fish also on my diet list menu in mushy stages, I just didn't want to touch it. However, I did blend tuna from the can. LOLOL -
Yes you can! We buy the frozen bag of Shoprite "homestyle" Potatoe Strips, french fries and put them in the toaster oven till nice and crisp. They have the skin on them too, they are yummmmicious! The back of the bag says that: 16 fries = 110 calories Fat = 2.5 grams Saturated fat = 0 Cholesterol = 0 Sodium = 170 Carb = 20 Sugars = 0 Protein = 2

Pooh, something to think about.... There is 5 days before Thanksgiving if you 'go hard' starting now you will lose weight! If you don't you will be so upset with yourself that you gained before a big Holiday, then after the Holiday you will only feel worse because you would have pigged out on the food. Remember you still have a band around your belly and 'over stuffing' it can cause your pouch to stretch or cause a band slip. Its really not worth it hon what consequences can follow after, why take the chance. Start today, you can do this only if you want to......

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
PattyGirl66 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Today is high carb day for me, I already had a yoohoo mixed with skim milk and ice and shook that baby right up! I feel alot better after drinking it, I dont have the shakes as much and don't feel so drained. I am worried about tomorrow going to low carbs and getting that 'crash'. With that said, I am going to work on my carbs and find the right number for me. I am going to do carb cycling one more week. I think that is all I can handle with the highs and the lows. I need to find 'balance'. I have my work cut out for me, but this was an excellent jump start for my metabolism. I am so grateful Missy found this experiment and its always great to fall back on when we have a weight loss stall. Great job TKW!!!! -

Lost 5lbs in a full week! I am very excited about the weight loss considering I am PMS-ing, and usually gain anywhere between 5-8lbs. I probably would of lost more if I wasn't. -

Am I Eating Too Much?
PattyGirl66 replied to oladad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Protein powder is 'unflavored', therefore you can mix it in anything. I mixed the powder in my Soups, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, chicken broths, yogurts, applesauce (any way I can get my protein in at the time). You can make your own delicious shakes by adding skim milk, half fruit, ice, and protein powder. really the possibilities are endless of what you can mix with unflavored protein powder, . experimenting is one of em, -
Colace stool softner every morning until you go. Give it some time, most of us didn't have our first bowel movement until a week or so. Mine was on the 9th day and I wanted to rip my head off, LOL. Since you are just out becareful with fiberous drinks, like metamucil early on. You can add the powder to your daily routine later on. However, right now you are probably feeling bloated as it is and the fiber will make you feel even more bloated. I drink metamucil every day now and it does help, and besides it does have extra benefits taking it. If you do't have a bloated feeling and feel comfortable taking the metamucil, than go right on ahead! Good luck, ....

Question I Should Know The Answer To!
PattyGirl66 replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Polly, You asked the right girl here!! LOLOL Okay seriously, I am considered a 'water holic' if there ever was, I would be the first on line to sign up for recovery. hehhaaaa Okay, added on to what CG said, there are TONS of reasons you should be drinking water, just not to keep hydrated. But most importantly it "functions' our vital organs, like our kidneys and liver. Water is the bodys most important nutrient. And like CG said it 'fills her up' when she drinks it because she is right, water acts as a natural appetite suppressant. Now, for vanity reasons you should want to drink plenty of it because it does wonders for the skin. Yes, drinking lots of water can help with aging, lines, and dry skin. Well, you asked for it, and I hope I gave you the answers you were looking for, LOLOL (now, go drink some water).....
