Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
PattyGirl66 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just realized Thanksgiving falls on my low carb day, so I am low carbing until then so I can make it a high carb day. I am not giving up my stuffing and sliver of apple pie. (ohh god I can hear the sighs behind the computers), LOLOLOL This is deff something I can totally live with by adjusting my carbs! OH, BTW I just thought of something, I probably felt low because remember I got my period the same week I started (duh)!!! All is good, and I am LOVING this ..... -
Well, I was out all day grocery shopping for Thanksgiving so I just ate pistachios. However, I am about to open up a can of Chicken Breast and put a wedge of laughing cow lite swiss cheese in it and roll a few up in a bed of lettuce

Worry About Failing
PattyGirl66 replied to pinkcess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Pinkcess, We all struggle and we all have to use our willpower when making 'good' food choices. The band does not make you stop over eating and it does not make food choices, you do. Now, the band will help you, but you are going to have to help it too in order for it to work. As you read through the threads and come across our weight losses, you will wonder how we all did it. Well, to be honest we have to push ourselves and fight every single day to stay on track and help this band to work for us. You can do this! You are not alone in the way you think and feel, believe me! I went from eating alll day long around the clock to eating just 3 meals a day, sometimes a snack. Once you put your mind to it you, it will work for you. Plan out your daily menu, track your foods now so that you will be use to doing this once you start on solid foods. Get use to planning and tracking. Follow your Diet that was giving to you and make it work for you. There are free apps you can download to your phone, I like to use LOSEIT, but there are several like MYFITNESSPAL , both are great food trackers and its super easy to use. Also, another thing that can be helpful is just by coming to this site and read, learn, educate, and familarize yourself with the lapband. There are so many of us out there that are willing to help! Best of luck! YOU can do this!!!! -

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

Mimi, also let me add that I will not be doing this permanently, its temporary to get that metabolisim working again. Then I will just adjust my carbs daily, giving myself a balance that I can live with. Hope I answered your questions -
Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
PattyGirl66 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry, I may just not understand your question as to exercising or carb cycling, or both. Yes, I do exercise as it is very important to 'move'. Before banded I did as much as my body weight could handle. But since banded and I have lost a lot of weight it is a little more easy for me to move. As for carb cycling, my weight has stalled for 4 weeks with following a diet plan and wanted to give this a try to jumpstart my metabolisim, which it did. I lost a little over 5 lbs in just a week. I probably would of lost more but I wound up with my period during that same week I started. I am really glad I have tried this because I have learned so much about carbs and how it can affect your metabolism/weight. In a nutshell, there really is no magic number when it comes to carb grams. We have to find out for ourselves what works best for us. This is why we are all adjusting accordingly to how we feel, how our body feels, and how we succeed. Its work in progress.... Are you considering carb cycling? Have you done it before? -

I exercise daily - i do about 20-30 minutes of walking on my gazelle edge and about 5 -10 minutes of upper body using 2 lb. weights. My routine in exercising has nothing to do with carb cycling. -

Jim, your fat grams looks pretty good to me darlin! damn! 110 for protein, wtf!!! I really need to get on the ball with protein. Are you guys 'eating' your proteins or drinking protein drinks. I don't drink any protein drinks at all because it makes me sick. so I try to eat my protein as much as I can. -

Low carb day is the very hardest for me too! especially calorie wise. I only seem to get in around 600. But you know what, going back to my tracker I was doing about 500 before carb cycling, so I am actually getting in more calories. I really have to work very hard on this. I think I am going to have to 'squeeze' a light snack inbetween meals. This might be my only way to get in those calories. Its funny how we train our bodies to eat a certain way. Before banded I would snack allll day long. After banded I don't snack at all, and my calories are very low. Now, I need to incorporate snacking back in. See, its all a learning process for everyone -

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

In no way shape or form is anyone doing any harm to themselves by doing this. There are TONS of people on here who praise the NO Carbs lifestyle and NOOOO body bashes or puts them down for what they believe what is good for 'their' bodies. We as individuals have to do what we feel what is good for 'our' bodies, nooooo body elses. I have only been doing this for a week because my weight had stalled for 4 weeks (following my diet plan), if that does not work after a certain time that means my food intake needs to be adjusted. The lower my weight goes, the more I exercise, there are many factors and it is up to us to figure out how to jumpstart the metabolisim again. We are NOT starving, I can assure you that. If anything I do feel is a little low after a high carb day, but that is it. Just as I had to adjust after surgery not having what my body was use to eating. I felt the same way, and I learn to adjust. Conclusion: This is a jumpstart to help boost your metabolisim, its not permanent. Everyone knows this, for how long they want to do this is entirely up to them. Some may even continue but adjust their carbs daily (I am going to do this). So, I have consistancy. Missy has shared her personal experience with us as she always does. She if anything has been a great mentor and wonderful role model in this community. When you reach out to her, she reaches back. We are all in this together, helping 'eachother' out, learning from 'one another'. Isn't this what this community is all about? Thank you Missy you are a tremendous pillar to this forum and for one I appreciate everything you do to help. ((hugs)) -

PattyGirl66 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jim, on high carb day I usually am getting in anywhere between 18-25 grams of fat. On low carb day its usually anywhere between 25-35. One day I think I pulled in almost 40, but it was just the one day. I know I still have to adjust the carbs (its only been a week for me) -

I am like Missy when it comes to meats. I do need to chill out on the cheese, I am eating way to much of it since banded because I use it mostly as my source of protein. Not to mention I am a huge mouse, I am pretty sure I was one in my past life the way I eat it...
