Kime, I can't stress enough on this site how much everyone is different and we all have to follow to the beat of our own drum. No two are going to lose the same, no two will eat the same, no two will burn/lose the same. Its science, our bodies are not built the same and what works for one, does not neccessarily work for the other. Keep doing what you are doing that works for you, because you are doing fabulous! Ignorance is bliss so they say.......

No artificial sweeteners...suggestions?
PattyGirl66 replied to tjmiller's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one of those people who can not tolerate sweetners at all. I have tried it all, and my body does not want it! for your liquid stages I can only suggest what I found that worked for me besides the broth. Besides drinking Water, I added/diluted it with: gatorade, apple juice, cranberry juice. I also added fresh fruit to my water such as oranges, limes, lemons. I also made homemade tea and added fresh oranges to it. Main thing you will have to keep yourself hydrated as much as possible during those crucial weeks. Also, since I do not do any sugar free foods/drinks I have to be super super cautious when I buy items for myself. For example, I love ice pops and found Edy's sells real fruit bars that are only 50 calories per bar and only 12 grams of sugar. Super super delish! My favorite when I get a sugar craving. Unsweetened applesauces is another great selection as well when you start on to soft/mushy stages. Hope this was helpful -
Oh and how I know that Yaya, I had to put myself in check many times over the holidays.. so glad they are over with and everything is out of the house, LOLOL

Weight increase
PattyGirl66 replied to Krystle Austin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI: anitibiotics have been known to put on weight gain because it regulates our hormones, meaning your energy is low so you would have a tendency to eat more. Its very common, and happens to many of us. It could work either way, loss or gain. -
Its going pretty good so far (knock on wood) --- Really looking forward to this summer for the first time ever! My lifestyle has drastically changed since being banded, for that I am really happy. You said that right, Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa for us!!!!
-
I logged on to check on ya ... this really puts a smile on my face!! gooooo get em tigeress!!!!!!
-
I have the realize band. Its a one size fits all (11-14cc) .. I was actually asked right before they were rolling me into surgery which one I want. Talk about last minute decisions. I remember just telling him whatever he felt was best at the time of surgery.

Thank you Floridays for putting that into perspective. I worry so much about maintenance, even though I have a very long way to go in the back of my mind I think about it all the time. I too have lost weight in the past, but could never keep it off. My biggest fear! I know so many people who have lost weight and soon after the weight crept back. I don't want to be one of those people. I want to once and for all keep it off forever, I am too old and too tired of the constant battle.

Samskiles, This is so difficult and hurtful. No matter what I say it will not ease your pain and heartache. I see your beautiful face and want to grab you through the computer and give you a hug. Know that even though something horrible has happened here, your strength will get you through. Your life is going to change, you will be a different person, a stronger person, and then a happier person .... Sending you peace, love, and good karma for your surgery! (((hugs)))

how fast is too fast??
PattyGirl66 replied to christysbandjourney's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Isn't it amazing.... It facinates me to watch every month how great we all are doing. It shows everyone on this forum that we are dedicated and commited to this. No matter what our differences are, or how we get there, we all have the same thing in common. That is the band!! We are a banded family, no body else can relate or understand what we go through better than us! I truly find comfort in knowing that I am not alone. I have been on this forum steadily for over a year and have learned so much from my banded peers before and after me. There is so much more to learn because our journey will forever continue as long as we have our band! -

Hi Christy! Congratulations on your weight loss! Very normal for you drop weight this rapid at your weight. I noticed many of us over 300/400 etc. tend to lose faster. Yes, you will hit plateaus its inevitable. Best part is, you are feeling great and eating good! Keep doing what you are doing. Listen to your body, what it wants and needs. You are already a success! Keep up the good work, super super proud of you ((hugs)) -
