When Do You Have A Bowel Movement . Surgery Was Oct 15 2012

I use the smooth move tea. it works well. -
4 weeks seems excessive. are they just performing the sleeve surgery or do they have to do any extra procedures like repairing a hernia or anything ?. if your just having the sleeve surgery i would say that 2 weeks is enough. also do you have a physical labor job or a sit down job. depending on what kinda of work you do this can increase the time needed before returning to work.

Surgery Before Or After Holidays
JMarshall replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last year on November 9th and i missed out on Thanksgiving, but honestly i did not care about the missed food at all. I would get it ASAP. Also insurance plans change year to year so your surgery is covered this year but might not be covered next year. I have seen this story a few times on this board before where people lose coverage after the new year. -
Propel Zero is what i have been using. its not to sweet and allows me to drink lots of water.

Preop Diet Making My Stomach Upset

Different weight loss programs have different rules, the best person to ask would be your nutritionist. I doubt that they would have any problem with it , but its better to get an answer from them. -
How Can You Tell If You Are Getting Dehydrated?
JMarshall replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i know that i am dehydrated when my legs start to get stiff and of course when my urine gets dark or has a strong smell. Be carefull with dehydration it can set your back especially if you just had surgery. I was severely dehydrated 1 week after surgery and had to be hospitalized for 3 days. Call your doc and ask them if they want you to come in. -
I wore a 15w before surgery and can wear a regular 15 now, maybe even a 14w depending on the shoe brand.

My starting BMI was 65 ( I weighed 540 pounds). My BMI was 60 when i had the sleeve surgery (weighed 490). I was classified as " Super Morbidly Obese" . I had 200 + pounds to lose. When i went to see the surgeon i had my mind set on getting the lapband. After speaking with the surgeon about the lapband i removed the lapband from the discussion. The only 2 that were left was the Sleeve and the Bypass. After speaking with the surgeon for about an hour about the pro's and cons of each procedure i made the decision to have the sleeve. There is less to no malabsorption with the sleeve and the weight loss between the sleeve and the bypass are practically the same. Me being 24 the surgeon suggested to have the sleeve. My 1 year anniversary will be on November 9th and have lost 150+ pounds since then and 205 pounds overall. Best decision of my life. Ultimately this is your decision and you will have different reasons for choosing which procedure you will have, I can only tell you my story. hopefully this helps. Good luck !

Preop Diet Making My Stomach Upset
JMarshall replied to smithpy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should try probiotics. They helped me with digestion of high amounts of protien. -
As Circa Stated , i think the biggest reason that surgeons prefer us not have have caffeine immediately after surgery is because caffeine can be a diuretic. dehydration after surgery is a common problem. so having caffeine can cause you to release fluid that you actually need to be preserving.

Ready To Be Healthy Again!
JMarshall replied to vivi04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would say plan to have at least 2 weeks off. Even though i felt like i could return to work 1 week after having the procedure done, having 2 weeks was great. it allowed me to get used to my new stomach and new eating habits. Also i had more energy the second week . Most people generally take 1-2 weeks off. Are you working or just in school ? -

Try to drink liquids at different temperatures. some people tolerate cold drinks and some do better with warmer drinks. early on i did better with room temp drinks -
