Family can be that way sometimes. Bottom line is that you need to clear the negativity from you life. i had to let a family member know that my decision was final and that if they did not support it or have anything nice to say that our relationship would be over. that person accepted it and apologized after they saw that the surgery changed my life for the better. you are having this surgery to change YOUR life. Stay strong and stay positive.

How Can People Not See It?
JMarshall replied to butterbean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People notice the change but most will not say anything about it. Weight is a touchy subject. When you lose 40 pounds it is noticeable. Also when you are around people daily the change is not so drastic. i know if you encounter someone you haven't seen in a while they will notice a change. i showed some co-workers some before and after pics and they were all like " i dont remember you being that big" -

Update- Rocky Road But Starting To See The Light At The End Of The Tunel
JMarshall posted a blog entry in JMarshall's Blog
I haven't been on here in a while so i decided to give an update. I have lost almost 180 pounds from my highest weight (540 pounds). i am 361 as of today 6/16/12.It been a rocky road but it was well worth it. I had to learn a lot about myself and had to deal with some personal issues. its always easy to judge other people but when you have to judge yourself its like pulling finger nails. i will be posting some progress pictures. i want to say thanks for all the support that the people on this forum provide. good information from real people who are in the same situation as you. i have had to buy all new clothes after 6 months. at first i was hesitant but its true" when you look good , you feel good" My surgery was November 9th 2011. ive lost around 130 pounds since then. i have a great support network at home of family and friends. things are finally starting to look up in my life. I still have about 80 pounds to lose but im sure those will be gone soon. -
good job keep up the good work!

Had My Consult- I'm The Heaviest I've Ever Been!
JMarshall replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I discovered that i was at my highest weight at the doctors office. i stepped on the scale and it read 540 pounds. My mom was with me and broke down into tears and started crying. My mom already lost my sister at the age of 26 and when she saw 540 she could not take it. The good news is that once you have this surgery you will never see that weight again. good luck and stay positive -

What Supplements Do You Use? What Is Working For You?
JMarshall replied to Calicolea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im 6 months post op and have been taking the Bariatric fusion chewable multivitamin. The Vitamins where designed for bariatric patients. you get all the vitamins you needs with 3 chewables. its cheap also, 1 bottle will last you a month. my lab work has been fine since i started taking them. the taste is not bad and its not chalky like other chewables. http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-fusion-gastric-bypass-vitamins-supplements.html?gclid=CM7uo4OE_q8CFYhM4AodH3a6Gw -

JMarshall replied to Jesusislove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months out and around 110 pounds down. my clothes are falling off me. i am trying not to buy any new clothes because i am still losing. dont see any reason to buy a new wardrobe when i will need more "new" clothes in another 5 months. i know im going to have alot clothes to give to the thrift store when i get to my goal. -

All Your Protein In?
JMarshall replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am 4 months out and the best advice i can give you is to focus on getting your water down. you can go a day or two without meeting your protein goal, but a day or two without meeting you liquid goal can cause dehydration. i had to be admitted to the hospital 6 days after i was released because of dehydration. if your having trouble with liquids try them at different temperatures. early on i was able to get warm liquids down easier than cold liquids. good practice for getting down all your liquids is always keep a water bottle on you. Good luck. -
I Have Told Everyone I Know? Am I In The Minority?
JMarshall replied to sabrina140's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i told everyone i know so that when i begin to lose weight i didnt get 1000 questions. i figured that all my freinds have seen me struggle with weight so me making the decision to feel better is not an issue. my co-workers are supportive and i found out that one of 2 of my coworkers have had wls, but they just had it years ago. -
