I would stick to what you know. 6 weeks out your stomach is still healing. i would stay to soft foods and things that are easily chew-able.

I am 11 months out and down over 200 pounds. i can eat anything, just not a lot of it. there is still satisfaction from eating, but not the same as i had before. I actually taste food now instead of inhaling it. also now that i eat less it free's up time for talking and having conversation at meals. My satisfaction comes less from food and more from the experiences that i have now with friends and family. My satisfaction comes from feeling better as a whole. There can be weight gain as with any WLS but with the sleeve it takes work. you must eat the wrong things sun up to sun down to effectively gain weight.

Try drinking water at a different temperature. some people do better with cooler water and some do better with room temperature water.

How And When To Tell Someone Your Having Surgery..
JMarshall replied to Queen In Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you are telling someone that you think will have something negative to say, you have to lay the ground rules. You must first let them know that you ARE having the surgery and that your mind is made up. If you give them the chance they will try to be negative and talk you out of it. Also let them know that any negativity will not be tolerated. Let them know that your are doing this for your health and that you would appreciate if they supported your health and well being. Dont let them tell you stories about someone who had the surgery and gained it all back , or had problems. Once you start entertaining there nonsense you have already lost. Be firm and assertive and dont give them the chance to be negative. -
Curious? Any One In Cincinnati?
JMarshall replied to zebrasprinkles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I live in Cincinnati. I had my surgery performed at Jewish hospital this last november. -
Took me about 6 weeks to get approval. I started the process and august of 2011 and was sleeved on November 9th 2011. I had 2 insurance plans , one was my mine through work and my other was through my mother. My work insurance has a WLS as an exclusion so the denial was within days. After my primary insurance was denied it was submitted to my mothers insurance, which they approved the surgery. i knew my insurance was going to deny the claim ,but before it could be submitted to my secondary insurance it has to go through the primary first. My mothers insurance is BCBS FEP

Emotional Vampires & Toxic People
JMarshall replied to @DomLorenVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had to cut a lot of people out of my life for many different reasons. i had to cut people out for mainly just being negative. i disabled my facebook page because its full of negativity and stupidity. i also spent way to much time on facebook and it became a distraction. my real friends call or text me when they want to hang out. anyone that brings drama and or negativity i dont talk to anymore. im focusing on making me a better me. Call me selfish but i feel 100 percent better mentally since making those changes. -
Congrats and good luck!

200 Pounds To Lose Is Doable
JMarshall replied to phatdivabbw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lewanda, I am 6 Foot 4 and i started out at 540 pounds. i got down to 490 pounds on the day of surgery. I am 10 months out and weigh 338 pounds. i have about 60 more pounds to go. Losing the 200 pounds is definitely possible, i have lost just over 200 myself. Now loosing 100 pounds in 4 weeks is drastic and probably not healthy, but the larger you are the more you lose initially. my first 2 months i lost around 55 pounds. i do have loose skin and will probably need to have surgery to remove the extra skin. But im only 24 so i will wait at least 1 year to give my skin some time to retract before i have surgery. -
I went to Doctor Fegelman at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. My BMI was 60. He was not really worried about my BMI but more if i could get into the correct position on the operating table. i am 6 foot 4 and at the time of surgery i was 490 pounds. He did warn me that if i could not get onto the table that i might have to have my procedure done at OSU. luckily i fit on the table. Current down to 338 pounds.

Stuck At 275 4 Weeks Post Op
JMarshall replied to VerticalMorey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Up your protien intake. this usually does the trick for people. -
I am currently in a stall right now. Im stuck at 338. been in this stall for about 3 weeks now. I would not worry, stay positive because it will pass. Here is an inspirational quote "Now we are the masters of our fate. That the task that which has been set us is not above our strength. That its pangs and toils are not beyond our endurance. As long as we have faith in our cause ,And unconquerable will power , salvation will not be denied us!"- Winston Churchill

4 months post op . it was just a beer. no real adverse reaction at all.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
JMarshall replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Final Straw for me was going to a doctor and stepping on the scale and it hitting 540 pounds . when my mother saw the scale she looked me dead in my eyes and started crying. My mother already lost my sisters 4 years ago from complications from Multiple Sclerosis .i know when she saw that scale she saw me in a grave next to my sister. i had also been having back issues and blood pressure issues. I saw myself in a full mirror and did not recognize who i was starring at. At that point i decided that i had to do something. A Lot of people say that this is elective surgery but for me it was not elective at all. Either i have the surgery or i'm dead by the age of 30. Best decision of my life -
i would get worried if you have not had a BM before this weekend hits. Stool softener should help. Anesthesia can cause constipation after surgery. If no BM by this weekend than i would take miralax and call you doctors office
