Vitamins, water, and protein powder
Jerseygirl82 replied to NJHAZMAT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as Vitamins my doc said the Centrum tummies were good. I track Water by a combination of the 36oz bottle I carry and use an an called fitbit that tracks calories as well as activity and water. There are fitbit devices that you can buy that track steps and activity and such and sync up with the smart phone app but if you just want to use the app itself is free. You can also set your phone to send you reminders to drink. I use the Mio and crystal light stuff, I like it. It makes things a little different but I also love water on its own. A good Protein is unjury, you can find it online. I prefer to get the unflavored that way it's easier to add to stuff and not notice the flavor. Good luck. -
Headaches with the Pre-Op Diet???
Jerseygirl82 replied to ashly.auld's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, it sucks but yes headaches on the pre op are common. Since its usually such a drastic change from what you had been eating your body is just trying to adjust and may be experiencing withdraw from caffeine, sugar and carbs. I had a five day migraine with my pre op diet. I don't know what your specific diet consists of but maybe try a cup of black coffee or some oj. I have heard other people say that helped them. Good luck. -
Yes, non scale victory. And the hope is that you use them a little more and not worry about the scale so much. Things like fitting in a booth at a restaurant, shopping at a non "big person" store, getting a compliment. Sometimes the scale won't budge for long periods its important to have other things to look at for motivation.

A fitbit is a little device that you clip on you. Usually on your pocket. It's like a pedometer but so much more. It tracks your steps, how many flights of stairs you've climbed, calories burned and a clock. It is very simple to use and connects easily to a computer. There is a website to go on and customize your settings, log food and track your progress. There is also Ann app for your phone. Very handy and easy to use tool.

So, I got a Fitbit Ultra last Friday and having been using it very faithfully ever since. I really like how easy it is to use and all of its little features. It has really been a motivator for me. I like watching the numbers climb on the pedometer portion and I really like when my calories are in the green zone! Ok, that being said. I was really hoping that paying atention to what I ate and how I moved that much more than I already do would have made a difference on the scale! Nope. I was really really really hoping to be below 270 by now!!!! So very frustrating.

I got my third fill on Wednesday. I am now up to 8cc in an 11 cc band. That one extra cc has really made me feel a difference. I have lost five pounds in four days. I really thought that 45 pounds would look and feel so much better than it does. But I think the most irksome thing is that it seems people don't notice I've lost anything. I'm guessing that some do and just don't say anything but after sooooo many years of hearing negative from people I was really looking forward to some positive feedback. 105 pounds to go.

Congrats and best of luck.

I really like the GNC lean shakes. I like the flavors and you can buy pre made or mix it yourself.

I have an 11cc band and my surgeon put 5cc in at my first fill. Honestly, it's fine. It isn't going to be as full as you think.

One Step At A Time
Jerseygirl82 replied to CarrieBrownsville's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a three week wait. I called my doctors office once a week to see if they had heard yet. Finally that third call they said they had just received the email. Worth it. -
South Jersey Plastic Surgeons?
Jerseygirl82 replied to karibensea's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hey there Jersey people. I am in Salem county and am starting to notice the sagging so would like some suggestions as well. -
They also use your nails bed as an indicator for oxygen in your body.

I am currently at 35 pounds lost since banding April 6, 2012. My first fill was May 10 and I have lost 14 pounds since then.
-
I had 5cc as my first fill in may. It was great, I just went last week for my second fill and got another 2cc in.
-
When you ate that bit of roll you may have irritated the band area a bit and you may be swollen now. That would explain why when you get hungry again later you fill up super quick. It may take a few days for your belly to calm down again.

Wow. Congrats to you. Yeah, definitely take some pics. Even for the simple fact of just taking part in your life; birthday parties, picnics etc. it is shocking looking back over my life and if you went by photo evidence only it would look like I never went to anything.

I absolutely feel your pain. Buying pants is one of the most annoying and frustrating things ever. I too can not wait to be able to just go in a store and no matter what find something. Soon....

Advice For First Month Please!
Jerseygirl82 replied to joannedt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep drinking water and get up and move as often as you can. You probably won't feel like it but it's the best thing for you. Good luck. -
Wooohooo Jumping On The Lapband Wagon!!!!
Jerseygirl82 replied to allik07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay, and good luck to you. This is a very exciting time. I would suggest that if you are planning on getting broth for after surgery you should think about buying regular cans of soup and straining it for the broth. I tried the canned broth and it did not taste good, I couldnt even force myself to sip it. But if I took a regular can of soup and strained it, the broth was wonderful.
