Hey there! I have a realize band. Its been two months since surgery and I have lost nearly 30 pounds so far. I am doing well with my band, I havent had any complications or problems with it. I have not been stuck on anything yet nor have I vomited. I have 5cc in an 11cc band. There is no food that I can not eat (that I have found so far). I just take my time with little bites and long chews. Good luck to you!

I have always been the one at work who is always hot and sweaty. I never wear long sleeves or jackets, even in the winter. I am the first to put the air conditioner on at work and as soon as I do all of the "skinny b*****s"start complaining about it while they are there in there skimpy next to nothing outfits. Well, I will say that I have lost nearly thirty pounds and am feeling the difference already. We have had some really hot days here in Jersey already and I must say that it was nice to not be as hot and as sweaty as I would have before. Hopefully it keeps getting better.

Hi there. Good luck to you and hopefully going to the seminar helps you get a better picture of what is ahead of you. You mentioned that you have no self control when it comes to food. Getting the lap band is not going to fix that, if you look on this site you will see plenty of people who still struggle with those issues. But hopefully if you do choose the band you will have plenty of support, and if you are doing it for the right reasons you will be able to overcome some of your issues and find long term success. Good luck to you, we are always here if you need us!

Wow, how absolutely amazing! Congrats on finally being able to have that baby! You can definitley get back to onederland, just keep reminding yourself of the key principles of the band and good healthy eating in general. You will do great!

Someone Noticed!!!!!!
Jerseygirl82 replied to feb27bandwoman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is exactly what I am going through! ,y husband tells me all the time how I look like I am changing and slimming down, but not one single person who doesnt know about the surgery has said anything! So frustrating. -
Definitely sucks. There is something about having this surgery that makes people think they have rights to say this stuff. I've lost nearly 30 pounds in 2 months and my mom actually said I was lying to her about the weight loss because she can't see any change in me. If she is serious and does start bugging you about choices, gently explain to her that you have a food plan you are following and if you are having a treat it means you worked it in and it's ok.

I Conquered The Water Park!!!

Oh my goodness. That is so wonderful. It is so nice to hear success stories like yours. The real things people who are overweight deal with and no one even knows. Congrats. -
First, please call your surgeon about the port. And about the hunger, your not that far away from surgery and you are still swollen inside so it's very likely you just aren't hungry. Are you keeping up with your water? That is a very important part of healing. I don't know about the sleep though. Good luck.

I just bought a fitbit yesterday. I love it. Definitely helping me think differently about how much I move and what I eat. I am very glad I got it.

1St Day Back At Work
Jerseygirl82 replied to Tricia39's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, congrats so far! Its nice to lose a nice little bit right off the bat for some extra motivation. Don't over do it though! -
Since the fitbit and the body bugg are about the same price I would go with the fitbit, it looks better and has some awesome features. I think I will be getting one.

It is absolutely a big decision but one that I am so very much thrilled with. The problem with "trying those other diets" again is that you may have short term success, but thats it. With the band and proper after care and support you will be learning how to eat to live. Losing weight will be a natural consequence of changing to a healthier lifestyle. it is not a diet, you need to change your mindset. The other thing is, becareful about asking family and friends of there opinion, because they may just give it to you. And often times they do not have proper information, they are just telling you something based on there own fear. So take the time to sit down with all of the information you need and read everything and talk to doctors and make your own informed decision. Bottom line is everything will fail, if you let it fail. Good luck, (I love my band, by the way!)

Wow, its like you are in my head. Those are the thoughts that I always have. When I met my now husband I was 136 lbs, he has since watched me gain almost 200 lbs in the last 10 years. He has been supportive and has always given me compliments and said I should "be naked more". He even likes touching my belly even though I think its gross. There have been occassions where he is not in the mood for a period of time and I think its me even though he says its not or even worse when I get up the courage to put lingerie on and he says he tired or his back hurts, thats the worst. It feels like a slap in the face. I wish I knew what to tell you to encourage you but I am in your boat! As far as sagging skin, have you been documenting with your doctor that it is causing problems like friction burn or getting infected or yeast infections in the folds? A lot more insurance companies are covering skin removal if you have enough documentation that it is medically neccessary. You will have to be very persistant with that though. That may help your self image issues a bit if you are able to get that done but a large part of it is your head so maybe think about a support group or therapist situation? Good luck.

It was a tough weekend. I ate bad food and too much. I know this. I blame me and only me. I gained back a few pounds and am having a hard time getting my head back in the game. On the bright side I finally figured out how to change my profile picture!

Feeling A Little Discouraged
Jerseygirl82 commented on Jerseygirl82's blog entry in Jerseygirl82's Blog
Thanks, already a few of those pounds have dropped back off. I am hoping to take this as a learning moment and not repeat this in the future. This summer is definitely going to be a challenge, but hopefully smaller new clothes will help me get through it. Good luck. -
How Does Your Partner Handle The Surgery And Weightloss???
Jerseygirl82 replied to Dacoop's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband has been truly great. Very supportive and tries to eat like me and not have my favorites in front of me. His only complaint is that I will lose my boobs! Men! -
Congrats. Welcome aboard!

Once Brave Now Petrified
Jerseygirl82 replied to dragonfly37's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You. Are. Not. Alone. Please, read that over and over until you know it in your heart. I too and am emotional eater and was addicted to soda. I gave up soda a month before surgery. The emotional eating is still something I struggle with. Think about all of the times that you eat, now think about how many times you have actually been hungry. Im guessing the two numbers are nowhere near the same. That has been hard for me, but I am trying to let the band work the way it should. I won't lie, I still have times when I eat because I'm angry, upset, scared etc, but now I choose things like FF Greek yogurt or weight watchers light string cheese. Good luck -
Starting Liquid Diet Tomorrow...ugh!
Jerseygirl82 replied to JulieC74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes the liquid pre diet is not so good. It is a big change from the way we normally eat and some people have problems with nausea and feeling shaky but also the fact that you feel like you could just cheat and there is no harm because you haven't had surgery yet. It is hard and unfortunately your just going to have to white knuckle through it. After surgery you most likely won't want food for a bit anyway. Good luck. -
A Good Feeling
Jerseygirl82 replied to Meredithsings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay. I am doing the same thing today. Cleaning out a lot of clothes that no longer fit. -
Are you logging your food? Maybe some not so good stuff has been creeping in there and you just haven't "noticed" it. Also, our bodies hold onto weight for a lot of different reasons I am sure yours will get the picture soon and let it go.
