    Diabeties And Pre-Op Surgery

My sugars have been ok on the pre op diet. Just get low sugar or sugar free protein drinks and meals. Ask at the seminar and tell them you are diabetic. I'm sure they can recommend some proper things for you specifically.

New Member Surgery Coming Soon! :-)

Congrats! MY surgery date is 2/3 so one day after you! I am soooo excited. I just really can't wait. I think te waiting game is the worst part!
  5. That is awesome ! I think you deserve some flirting. I am sure it is flattering. When I was thin, men were overly helpful and pretended to just want to be friends when they really just wanted to get in my pants. I was trim when I got married 10 years ago but I'm not anymore. The attention from men would probably not be welcome at all since I'm happily married. I might smile and feel flattered but that is where it would end. My husband is territorial LOL. I hope that HE is happy with how I look in addition to myself. Anyone else's opinion would just be icing on the cake, but not necessary. I think for me the main things are 1) to put my diabetes in remission 2) to be more confident and outgoing. I have zero social life and don't like going places anymore because I'm insecure. I really hope that changes with this.
  6. Capt Derel Thank you for asking those questions. It is good to know there is a red cross hospital across the street if there is anything awful. I was wondering what would happen if that did occur. I appreciate it!

    Absolutely The Worst Experience

Wow, where did you have surgery? Would you consider it a good place?
  8. I am so sorry about your mother. You are blessed that she got to see you conquer your obesity! That is amazing! I think that is wonderful. Thank you for this post, it was lovely
  9. I know how you feel right now! I am supposed to be starting my pre op diet and it sucks. I keep wanting to have "one last meal" before consuming mostly just protein shakes, liquids, and jello. My husband and kids have been eating the most delicious stuff non-stop around me. I can't exactly take my kids favorite foods away so it sucks. I think you are going to be okay once the surgery is over. I'm sorry your husband doesn't want to deal with it but he is going to have to. If he cares aout your health, he will deal with it and be supportive.

    Urgent - Advice Needed Please

Well I have to say that my opinion may not be popular. I think you should go ahead with it. Putting it off could add to more depression after going through something like this. If you don't do it now and something happens where you can't get it at all or for many many months, you may really regret not getting it done. Also, you have a rental you can move into and so you won't necessarily be in a hotel. I think this will help you make a fresh start overall with everything. So I think you will be able to handle it. However, this is just my opinion. Ultimately, it is your life and your body so your choice must be your own. Good luck and I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.

    200+ Miles Powerwalking - Down 131 Lbs

That is so awesome! Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing
  12. My husband and I were discussing this. My cousin had weight loss surgery and she has gotten almost too thin at this point. I don't want to end up too skinny but the good thing is that most people do regain at least 10-20 lbs or so after the first year or two when they are on the super skinny side. So hopefully if we get too skinny we will gain some back to help. My husband definitely doesn't want me to get too thin and I really don't want to either. It's a risk I guess.

And I Shall Call It Nanner....

I love the nanner nickname! I haven't thought about naming my sleeve when I get surgery in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll think of something later :blush5:

Newbie Here Getting Sleeved In Mexico Feb 4Th!

There is a member on here named yecats geting sleeved by Dr. Kelly on Feb 4th! She was looking for a sleeve buddy. I guess I'm the match maker! :-)
  16. Yecats, I am going to Tijuana on Feb 3rd!! We are one day apart. Who is your surgeon going to be? I am going to Dr. Almanza. We may run into each other at the recovery house.
  17. I'm going to Dr. Almanza on Feb 3rd and I'm pretty prepared for what to expect. I do expect a good surgeon but things aren't going to be perfect. I already know that I can expect to potentially wait all day before my surgery because of the amount of surgeries he does. I already expect to be speaking Spanish because many of the staffers do not know English. I expect the recovery house to be loud and I will likely leave a day early and head back to San Diego the night before my flight to stay in a hotel for some sleep. I'm an insomniac and I sleep much of my time during the day so if I can't sleep at the recovery house, it will be necessary. I expect decent care but not anything amazing. I have had surgeries in the U.S. with surgeons who are less than impressive and also in a clinic setting just like Dr. Almanza's so I know what to expect. The idea of surgery in a clinic is not foreign at all. In Austin, there are several places just like that. I had surgery in a strip mall in Austin this year so it happens in the U.S. too.

    Omg

That is so amazing! I hope it all goes well for you!!
  19. I think the hardest part is the waiting game. I know how you feel because I don't have much longer either. The anticipation and nerves are annoying, aren't they? :-) I think just envision your better health and that will get you there.

What Does A Leak Feel Like?

Oh no I hope you are ok! Please at least get checked out for your own sake.

This May Sound Stupid... But I Need An Excuse.

You could say you have stomach ulcers. The sleeve has been a surgery done on people with stomach ulcers for many years. This would be a good lie lol. I don't blame you for lying. High school is so awkward and I think I would do the same thing if I were you.

I'm In Mexico- Dr. Garcia! :)

I almost went with Dr. Garcia but he wouldn't take a credit card payment. I know that sounds stupid but I couldn't pay any other way. Please let us know how your surgery goes.

    Root Canal Before Vsg?

Thank you Happy! I think I am going to go ahead and get the root canal. I am not happy that my tooth is infected right before my surgery. I have been taking amoxicillin and noticed the infection is taking a while to go away and I think the root canal cannot be avoided. I was hoping to wait until ater surgery but this tooth won't quit! It has a hole in it and it is abscessed as well. My gums are hugely swollen. I have been able to avoid the dreaded huge chipmunk cheek problem so far thanks to the amoxicillin I think.
  25. Hey guys, I have a tooth that has been bothering me and they want to do a root canal next Tuesday 2 weeks before my surgery date. Do you guys think I should do it before the surgery or after if the tooth is hurting? I know I will only be able to take tylenol for pain because of the no aspirin or blood thinner rule. Is pain medication an absolute no no too? I think it is. I wonder if I should just wait until after my surgery to get the root canal. What do you guys think?
