I'm On My Way To Be Sleeved Today!

Glad you're feeling ok! So who is Dr. Rodriguez in Tijuana? :-) I haven't heard of this one! Tell me all about him and how your experience went. What hospital were you at? I love hearing about new doctors because I can give people information that ask me for it.

    Nsv Ho Roundup!

OK, so I've seen the term NSV ho a few times since joining this site. Share why you are an NSV ho and what your BEST NSV has been since your gastric sleeve surgery. Bring it on! let's have fun with this. So far, my best NSV is that my pre-surgery jeans are almost falling off now :-)
  3. Hey there! You are so young but you know I feel if your weight is out of control now, it's a good thing to fix it if you can before you get older. Dr. Alvarez does do surgery on teens but you might have to pay for it with your own money. Ask your parents to call Dr. Alvarez's office or email him. He has a channel on youtube under endobariatric and even did the surgery on his 12 year old niece! She has lost a lot of weight and looks happy! I think it would be a good choice to explore this surgery as long as your parents are ok with it.

Killeen lady here! Sleeved 7 weeks ago.

Any Sleevers Made Any Love Connections On Here?

I've never heard of it happening but I would bet that some people have. I know on another gastric sleeve forum I was on there was some naughty webcam play going on between a married lady and another sleever! LOL!

    Tell Me I'm Not Crazy

I say go for it! You want to lose weight and keep it off. You have battled weight problems all of your life. That is VERY frustrating and you deserve to try something that will help you keep it off long term. Best wishes to you! I've heard great things about Dr. Garcia!
  7. I have seen a lot of band over bypass surgeons in Mexico. It is more common than you think. I am not a big fan of the lap band, BUT I've seen it work for some people. Maybe it will help out Carnie. Portion control is obviously her problem. I, too, have heard of stomaphy X and I would think that it would be getting popular for GBP patients who have regained a lot of weight.
  8. This is a great and interesting thread! I think that the amount you can eat at a sitting two years out is going to be something we want to explore. It is obvious our sleeves adapt and can handle eating more. It is scary but good if you consume the right foods. I am only 7 weeks out and I already have learned about slider foods. I ate some wheat thins with tuna and I realized I ate far too many wheat thins. Those sliders realy can sabotage weight loss! I have to only grab a couple now because if I bring more I can eat them. Pretty scary! I know what everyone means about slider foods being dangerous to weight loss.

Hit Goal! 11 Months, Down 116 Pounds

You've done very well! When you first said you were a conductor, i was imagining a train LOL! Then I realized you are a music conductor after I read more. :-) Congrats on losing weight and feeling better. Who cares what the lady who did it the "hard way" thinks. You handled it very well. I probably would have just said something like "You lost weight? I had no idea!" LOL... Anyway, way to go!

    Success But Not Without Challenges

Don't give up on trying to lose weight. You can break the stall with some new dedication.I also hate to waste food too. Since I had the sleeve about 7 weeks ago, I have noticed a strange habit of eating a small portion of food and putting the lettovers in the fridge because I hate to waste it. Then after a couple of days if I don't eat it, I will have to throw it out. It's actually kind of gross. I need to learn to either eat it later the day or throw it out as soon as I'm done eating. It is strange and I have never done that before. I have an issue with throwing food out too. I agree that you shouldn't be giving what's left to your hubby and you will have to just make a conscious effort not to do it. I know it's easier said than done.
  11. Bless your heart! I am sure he is insecure. I think he sees you losing weight and might even be a bit jealous. I am sure he doesn't want to be the fat spouse when you are done losing weight. You will be trim, and he won't. I think he probably felt secure as both of you being big and when you lose the weight, he will be the one people will notice as the big one. It could be other things too. I really hope it gets better for you both. I would be devastated if my husband weren't supportive. Have you tried telling him how you feel? Have you asked him why he doesn't seem supportive? I hope you can get it all figured out. And yes, we are here for you here!
  12. Congratulations! And I agree with doggz, that switching up calories is impotant in weight loss. Staying at the same calorie intake is probably not the best idea. Body builders do what they call calorie shifting. They eat strict usually mostly protein and then have a "cheat day" once a week to keep the metabolism working. Or some of them eat x amount of calories for a few days, and then eat more calories for a day, and then back and forth. It seems to work really well

Notice: 4 Year Old Lap Band Failure

Thanks for the post, CaptDerel! I did entertain getting the lap band very shortly when I first started researching weight loss surgeries but all of the erosion and slippage stories scared me into definitely getting the vertical sleeve. I hope that your acquaintance's Aunt gets well and recovers fine. I think a sleeve revision may be a good idea but only the doctor knows i guess.

8000.00 Self Pay In The Us!

I heard about him a while back. He has been getting a LOT of attention on a couple of other WLS forums. I have heard good things! Good luck everyone!
  15. Hi there. He is a very popular and well known talented surgeon. I personally didn't use him because of his price but if you have the money, he is worth any penny. I am sure you are going to get plenty of replies. On youtube, I've seen many people mention using Dr. Alvarez with much success.

Dr. Ponce De Leon & Trish

Congrats on getting surgery! I have heard good things about Dr Ponce de Leon. I am happy to hear you feel pretty good overall. Best wishes!
  17. Just try to stop eating before you get full. I am still having a little bit of trouble getting used to taking little bites. I have accidentally eaten big bites a few times and learned my lesson. I don't have a problem with stopping when I'm full. I can eat about half a chicken breast and a few green beans now.
  18. I've seen some men's man boobs after surgery. They, too, look like they have droopy tits when it's over. I'm sure some men don't have that problem. As far as my boobs go, I wear a D/DD and when I lost a lot of weight before they were still a C/D. I am hoping that's where they will be when I'm done losing.
  19. Hey there lightweights. I know the weight loss is slower, It is a bit discouraging but I'm sticking with it. I am a month and a half out and have some weight loss but it's not a big enough change to really make it noticable yet. My clothes are fitting looser and I look a bit slimmer but nothing dramatic yet. How long before you went down a couple of pant sizes or lost enough to know you were really on the way to the newer, slimmer you?

American Sleeved In Pakistan On 2/29

Yay congratulations on getting sleeved! I know what it's like to be really active and still not be able to get under 200 lol :-). My nickname on another gastric sleeve forum is actually itsmytime so I actually love your screen name :-) I said the exact same thing to my family a few months ago that it is MY time. glad to hear your surgery went well too!

Has Anyone Gone To Mexico To Be Sleeved?

Congratulations! I wish you all of the best with your surgery in Mexico! I felt safe while I was there and I feel like you will be fine.

    I Want To Understand!

It is such a personal choice. There are many reasons that some people don't want to tell everyone. We all have different people in our lives, different work places, different situations. Shouting it from the rooftops or only telling a few people, it is up to you! I think our own journeys are what we NEED them to be. I really don't think it matters how many people we tell. We are the ones who have to go to sleep and feel comfortable in our skin. No one else. I respect everyone's decision on who to tell and who not to tell. It's that easy :-)

The Scale Is Not Going Down :(

Remember they stuffed your body with IV fluids while you were in the hospital so it is actually quite common to weight a few pounds more right after surgery. Don't worry, it will start going down soon.

    Getting Crazy About Ephedrine?

DO NOT USE EPHEDRINE. I took yellowjacket pills in the years of about 2000-2002 and was totally hooked on them because they contained ephedrine! it took me getting pregnant to stop using them! I was hooked on them and I'm VERY lucky that I didn't get heart problems or other issues. It caused me to feel cracked out, way hyper, and addictive. Trust me, it is NOT worth it! The weight loss from the sleeve is sufficient!

    Secret

I told my parents and my husband and my older daughter. I am not sure if I should have told my parents now that I think about it. My Dad has been very supportive but I do worry if the surgery doesn't work for me, he will be judging me. He has worried about my weight as an adult and has even been rude a few times. He has gotten better about that now that he is older and knows how much it hurts me when he says things about it. I just worry if I don't lose all of the weight with my surgery that he is going to lay into me and give me hell. I hope I lose it all and don't have to hear anything negative. I only told them because I felt like they needed to know in case something happened. The other downfall is my stepmom, while she is a total darling and raised me from the time I was 4 years old, has a big mouth. I'm pretty sure she's told a few other family members, I know a fact she told one of them who is a well known gossip. Soooo be careful who you tell. I didn't want anyone else knowing and I know my mom told another family members so just be careful. I don't regret telling them but I do wish they would keep their mouths shut to others LOL. I also worry about my Dad judging me if for some reason the surgery doesn't do the job for me. It's a catch 22. But all in all, that is all I wanted to say :-). I only told a few people but if you tell a family member you can't be sure they won't tell a couple of other family members LOL.
