The Secret Of My Success
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh LilMissDiva..Stronger Diva...Diva with a Rockin Bod WE are NOT WORTHY! Seriously! You and Lilliana Arleen are my sleeve idols LOL. Well God first, then you guys of course hehe. I just downloaded your doc and I'm going to look at it when I'm feeling unmotivated or down. I have been doing Turbo Jam and Taebo since surgery and there are some days where I just don't wanna do it! Just want to lay around on the couch and say to myself "Oh I can barely eat enough calories, how in the world am i going to have enough energy to work out?" Well screw that! On those days I'm just going to look at this word doc and remember that dedication and "P's and Q's" are going to get me there! And as for the C's, I'll avoid them as best I can! We all have bad days. We just gotta get up, scrape ourselves off, and move on! Thank you for being such a DIVA!!! -
Opinion Of Dr Almanza And His Facility In Tijuana
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Oahu Firewater's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I considered baja med group for my surgery. They sound really good but I didn't have enough reviews on them to go there. I still get emails from them once in a while and I don't mind :-) I will eventually either go to Mexico or Vegas for my tummy tuck after I lose all the weight. Can you please write a review of your experience after you go for your surgery? There is not enough information on this company on the boards and I think some reviews would really help for people trying to decide. The aftercare sounds cool. -
Failed Gastric Sleeves==Plicating The Sleeve? Hmmm
Sleeved&Hopeful posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just ran accross this and found it interesting. It is about doctors who have been approached for surgery after failed gastric sleeves, and instead of re-sleeving, they are plicating the stomach like the gastric plication surgery. Here is the article: http://obesitycontrolcenter.com/uncategorized/gastric-sleeve-failure/ I wonder how often the failures are occurring. I have seen some posts on an Australian weight loss surgery site saying that they have gained back a significant amount of weight. They were doing the sleeve in Australia way back in 2001. I know the bougies were larger back then. Some of the 7 to ten year data we are seeing are from the very earliest of sleeves which were larger. So to really see how well the smaller bougies (32-40) have fared, we may be waiting until 2017 to get accurate data. I just thought this was interesting. So people are heading back for a re-sleeve, which has a higher rate of complication, and being treated with plication to restore restriction and weight loss. Interesting! -

Kinda Confused...
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can assure you I felt hungry when I was on the liquid diet after surgery. Those hormones ARE definitely still acting up at first. IT got much better when I could at least eat mushies like mashed sweet potatoes or something. That liquid diet is the worst part of the whole thing. Now that I can eat dense Protein with no problems I get full extremely fast. Just give yourself a little time and you will feel the restriction. As far as liquids, I can understand ya on that! I am diabetic too and I just had to constantly sip sip sip. No giant gulps. -
Im Having A Hard Time Adjusting.
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Sassiesmiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That first 6 weeks was easy on my body but hard on my mind. My family ordered pizza out and I couldn't have any and wasn't sure how to handle that. I thought oh I can just eat the toppings...well, I didn't but it was mentally difficult. The liquid diet and mushies stage was hard on me. However, once I could eat some dense protein like chicken or shrimp it got a LOT better. I love chicken and fish and shrimp etc so I have done ok on the protein first. I know how it is to struggle with this! I still fight urges sometimes. -

Congratulations! -
I am so excited for you! I had the EXACT SAME FEAR! I thought on my surgery date that I wouldn't believe it was real until I woke up and was told that I had surgery. I was afraid I'd get rejected for some reason before surgery or wake up from surgery without being sleeved because of some fluke complication. I felt like I was being teased with surgery until it actually happened. And guess what? I woke up sleeved! I am sure you are going to be fine!! I understand your fear. I had it and everything worked out. I am so glad you have a supportive family and friends too. It will make everything so much better for you. Best wishes and good luck to you today! Via con dios!

Is There Something Wrong With Me? I Have No Problem W/3-4 Oz
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Isabel'sGma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think so. I think you are doing okay. 600 cals at the mushy stage is not too little and not too much. Im sure you are chewing everything to a mushy consistency right? That would make it go down easier. -

2/3/2012 Surgery Date In Tijuana. Anyone Having Theirs Around The Same Time?
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Sleeved&Hopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have recovered fine and am losing weight as expected. The experience was a little scary at first, going into Tijuana, but you quickly feel better with the staff and at the clinic. Also, the other patients were with me and we made each other feel better. I trusted the doctor. He has a lot of experience. I didn't really have much pain after surgery, just discomfort and some gas. I was one of the lucky ones for sure. -

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-05-07/allergan-receives-u-dot-s-dot-subpoena-over-weight-loss-device We have heard about this for years on the forums! I am glad someone is finally paying attention! I know there are many successes, but there are also just as many problems and horror stories! That is just not going to cut it. -
Catlady--I am so sorry to hear about your complications! I am a little late reading this. My heart goes out to you and I am sorry you have to go through this. I am very happy that you are okay and alive but sad that you are faced with such a challenging complication. Please, if you need anything or just want to talk, I'm here. I want you to be okay mentally as well as physically and I just want you to know you have a friend in me, and in most people here on VST. We are all in this together, and when one of our own is having a complication, you can bet we will be there for you.

8 Mos Out And Gaining Weight
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to Rebel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart Rebel! You've been through a lot. It's ok! You lost 50 lbs at 6 months and you've hit a bit of a stall for 2 months. It happens.. Relocating to a new place and money stress are definitely food triggers. Try to replace the junk food with something low cal that you actually like. Pack your meals for work so you don't get as tempted to go get fast food. I am sure you can break the stall and get the scale moving again if you just replace the bad stuff with good stuff. Try just going out for a walk at lunch or in the morning before work even if it's only for 20 minutes just to keep your body moving. good luck!! I hope things get better for you soon too! -

Finally starting to get compliments! One friend asked me if I'd been "smoking crack" as a joke lol. I guess that's not flattering at the start but he said he was joking and that I looked a lot smaller. Then my daughter's friend's grandma asked me if I had been working out because I looked really good. Glad to get some positive feedback from someone besides the hubby.

I Think I Am A Sleeve Failure!
Sleeved&Hopeful replied to frumpy69's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey there- Just want you to know that I have definitely heard of 2 month stalls. Also you must have lost that 42 lbs REALLY FAST so maybe your body is just catching up from the rapid loss--which explains the stall.. Some people have a stall 3 weeks after surgery. Some people 3 months after surgery. Sounds to me like you hit the stall at 3 mos. If I were you I would make sure to get in some exercise at least 3 days a week for 45 min to an hour. DEFINITELY cut out the beer. Or try a lower calorie beer. Check out: http://getdrunknotfat.com It's a site that shows beer and the calorie content and even more. Be smart about it. You can't let this stall control you. Just keep on eating right, exercise at least a few days a week, and either stop drinking or be smart about it. You will beat the stall.
