  1. Hey all!! I feel like we've slacked off I miss you all! So, here's my update... I'm 5 days post-op and feeling AWESOME. I told my uncle that I felt like a million bucks, and wasn't exaggerating at all. Now if you asked me if I would feel like a million bucks by 5 days while I was in the hospital...I'd say HELL NO. Had horrible nausea in the hospital that took a mix of three different meds at different times to even get remotely under control so I could drink 4 oz in 8 hours. But, I was motivated to work hard on my 2nd full day to get enough liquid down to go home. Just walking in my front door was awesome. I felt so much relief. The only set back I've had is horrid constipation. My 2nd night home, I ended up in Urgent Care as I had wore out all my remaining stomach muscles trying to pass what had built up in my bowels. It's still a bit of a struggle, but my UC Doc and my Surgeon worked together to prescribe some colon clean out juice that I'm taking until my 1 week follow-up. Hopefully I'll get some more direction on Tuesday. As far as meds...I'm down to one anti-nausea pill and prilosec in the morning. Haven't had any pain medication in over 24 hours, even liquid tylenol. I've been taking my three, ten minute walks religiously. Today, I stepped it up and my third walk ended up being a 20 minute mile. I jammed out to my ipod and just went to town! I just hope all of you are having as good of an experience as I am. Let's open this discussion back up!!!!!

    The Easy Way.....

Nicky, what a wonderful way of putting what I'm feeling into words I'm 3 months out, and enjoying every bite! I still make very conscious decisions of what to put in my body, and make sure I hit my protein goals, but have enjoyed a bite or two of cupcake at birthday parties. I must be doing something right as I'm down 62 lbs in my 3 months, and 112 lbs since my first appointment back in February. I think you are on the right track to be very successful!!

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

Hey all!! I'm tall as well I'm 6', highest was 400+ (not sure where as the scale at the gym only went up to 400 and I was over). When I started my bariatric program in February I was 377, 327 for surgery June 11, and as of today 276. That is 101 pounds GONE since I started my journey. I was wearing 30/32s and now am down to 22/24s. The sleeve is a fantastic tool ad I'm SO blessed to have found this. I've attached a mosaic of my journey...there is one at my heaviest, one month pre-op, one month post-op and two months post-op.

  6. my BMI is out of the 40s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Hello all! Well...I've officially lost 100 lbs from my highest weight (78 lbs since starting the bariatric program in February and 26 lbs since surgery June 11th). I can't remember the last time I was under 300 lbs...I remember making up a number for 280 when I got my driver's license when I was 16....but I think I was low balling my actual weight. @ 400+ lbs @304 1 month post op
  8. Congrats Piplula!! I JUST hit Twunderland too It's the best feeling!

    3 Month Diet?

I had to do a 3 month diet for insurance, and honestly I'm SO grateful. It really gave me time to start getting my life in order for surgery! I was seeing the NUT and Psych at the same time, and did not meet with the surgeon until I had my approval letter from the insurance company. Once I was approved, things moved pretty quickly Good luck! I really encourage you to use this time to prepare

    Nectar Protein..

They are ok I found they were the best mixed with Crystal Light Lemonade! I would recommend sticking to the sample packs, I didn't like any enough to buy a big canister.

    3 Week Stall

As soon as I moved from clear liquids to full liquids I stalled. It's been 4 days now with the scale not moving. Not really freaking out as I know this is normal. Oh well
  12. Off to the gym ;)

  13. I shaved mine 6 days post op. Had no problems
  14. Getting ready for my first follow-up appointment. Can't wait to "graduate" to full liquids :)

  15. Nate! I wish you all the best in recovering from your clot. Hopefully this is the last we hear of clots

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

Hello all So glad I found this thread! I'm 30 and living in Minnesota. Was sleeved a week ago and doing awesome. Already down 14.4 lbs and not looking back. I am so very thankful for this opportunity to start my life over, gonna have a much better next 50 years than my first 30.
  17. I have been wondering the same things! I feel some soreness around my abdomen...but no pain. I drink all my fluids, still on clears, but rarely feel restriction. A lot of times worried I'm drinking too fast and am going to cause a leak. Hopefully the restriction does come with purees!

    Nausea?

Don't know what causes the nausea...but it was my number one issue in the hospital. None of the IV meds would touch it, but once I was on an oral pill it magically went away. I'm now 7 days post op, and am down to one pill a day, which I almost didn't take this morning. When I was in the hospital, all the drs and nurses said that nausea was very common with the sleeve.

    Period During Surgery?

Mine had "ended" the day before surgery. But the first time I went to the bathroom after I was bleeding again. They said it's very common for women to get the period with surgery, sometimes even if they are mid-cycle.
  20. smtaarrie...I am 6 days post op and sipping my way through the day I'm easily reaching my outlined goals of 24 oz between 6 am and noon, 24 oz between noon and 6, and 16 oz between 6 and midnight (they give me a break so i can go to bed and hopefully not be up all night peeing *smiles*). It turns out to be 4 oz an hour, which really isn't hard and I'm not drinking constantly. I can take half an hour breaks and catch up. I have multiple bottles filled with something, that I can quickly grab if I need to leave so I always have Fluid with me. My first few days in the hospital, there was NO way I was getting 4 oz in 8 hours down. But, I was on IV fluids, and they were confidant once we figured out the right nausea meds I would drinking up a storm. I hope this helps! You will do great in August

    Excited Newbie - Thank You!

WELCOME!!! I love seeing people as excited as I was when I found this site. You will learn so much. But, what I can tell you, nothing you read here will prep you for how YOU will react post-op. I thought I was so prepared, but was scared and regretting my decision for a few days. Now 5 days out, I feel like a million bucks and wouldn't have it any other way. You will do awesome

    Wrong Approval Code

I had a slight problem with my approval and it took the insurance company about a week to straighten it out. Not sure if this is normal, but it is my experience. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Day 5...just finished a mile long walk...in 20 minutes. I'm trucking!

  24. Butterfly... I'm 5 days post op, and luckily able to get at least 48 oz down each day (YAY ME!!!). I'm still on Clear Liquids and will "graduate" to full liquids for 2 weeks next Tuesday at my first pre-op appointment. My office said not to worry about hitting my Protein goals until 3 weeks out when I'm on my pureed diet. That is when I need to aim for my 70 gm of protein. I hope this helps! You are doing wonderful Sista
  25. I'm going in for my sleeve in less than a week!! I've pretty much figured out how to keep up with replacing my wardrobe on a budget, except for the bras. These suckers are expensive....plus I need good support. I just wanted to see what others have done to make sure the girls have what they need while going through sizes so quickly. Thanks!
