    Peek Inside My Medicine Cabinet

You take all of those suppliments everyday? I thought one of the advantages of being sleeved over a tradional bypass was that you wouldn't need as many supliments because they don't reroute the intestines. Thank you for your expertise!
  2. Hey all! I'm on my way to having my VSG, but want to start prepping my kitchen to have the tools necessary to be successful! Here is my list so far...what am I missing? Blender of some sort...any preferences (magic bullet, ninja, ect)? Smaller plates/bowls/silverware Measuring Cups Thanks for all of your help!!!

  6. So....my plan requires that I have a 3 month supervised diet (since I don't have any comorbtalities) and documented BMI equal to or greater than 50 "at least one month preceding surgery". Does this mean we can document my 51.1 BMI at my first appointment and then go through the 3 month diet without fear of being denied? Thanks for your help!!! Sara
  7. WOW!! Congrats on your amazing success Can't wait until I can make these types of posts!
  8. I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and wish for a Joyous New Year!
  9. Hello all! I just attended my first information seminar this week and found that Medica will only allow the gastric sleeve with a BMI of 50 or higher. Currently, depending on when I weigh myself, I'm between 50.2 and 51 BMI. My Medica insurance kicks in on Jan 1 and I want to hit the ground running to get approvals. I'm scared that if I don't gain some weight that once I go on my pre-op diet I'll lose weight and on the day of the surgery be below 50 BMI and get denied or something. Any advice?!?

    Help With Bmi Question- Medica

I'm lucky that I don't have any real complications from my weight yet....PCOS and back pain, but no diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol yet. I just hope it goes smoothly!!!! Thank you guzel for the information on Medica. Where did you have or are you having your surgery???
  13. Hey all!! I'm going in for an group information session tomorrow. This is my first step along the journey (mostly because my insurance kicks in 1/1/12 that will offer coverage). I just wanted to know what to expect from this type of session. Thank you all for any information you may have!! Sara
  14. What fabulous news!! Keep us posted on your experience and progress
  15. Welcome!! I'm so anxious about getting approval for my surgery. I get to start the process on Jan 1, once I officially switch to the insurance company that will cover it!
  16. Hello all!! I have been pursuing these message boards for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to join. Here is a little about me...I recently turned 30 years old and am currently at 370 lbs (I'm 6', and carry my weight pretty well). Luckily I do not have a lot of medical complications due to my weight...yet! I just found out that our company is changing insurance plans next year to Medica, which will cover bariatric surgery. I've already signed up for an information session with Park Nicollet, which is next week. Currently I'm still in debating over the gastric sleeve or the RNY bypass. As I'm just starting, I'm really looking for any information that you think would be helpful. I'm not even sure if I know what questions to ask. Thank you all in advance for your support and help!
  17. From everything I've read I would definitely prefer the VSG!! But, at this point I haven't had any consultations with a doctor or surgeon since my current medical plan does not cover it. That being said, I do want to leave my options somewhat open to what my surgeon suggests. I am going to an information session next week. I'm sure this will stir MANY new questions
  18. Excited for the information session next week :)
