    Hello All!

Hello all! I just found this MN forum, I'm so glad someone started it Well, I will introduce myself. I'm Sara, 30 year old and from Brooklyn Park. I have been obese my whole life, I even remember shopping in plus sizes in middle school. As many of you have experienced, I've worked hard to lose weight in the past....but nothing has happened. I'm so thankful for this gift I've been given when my company changed insurances and finally started covering weight loss surgery. I started my journey in December by going to the Park Nicollet general information session. In January I hit the ground running! After 3 months of nutrition visits and 40 lbs, I was approved to day for surgery. I'll meet with Charles Svendson on 5/17/12 to set a date for surgery. It just started to hit me that this is REAL!! The nerves are starting to hit...but I know I'm doing the right thing. Can't wait to meet you all and share this wonderful journey. Peace be with you all!
  6. Hello all! Last Friday I received my approval from Medica tor surgery...YAY!! Top news story this morning is that the support staff part of SEIU will be voting today and tomorrow if they will strike, and of course my hospital would be affected. I hope the strike is voted down or can be avoided...I just don't want to get a surgery date, do the pre-op diet and then have to reschedule because of a strike.
  7. I've really enjoyed his book too! I'm also reading Breaking Free From Emotional Eating and Health At Every Size. The last two aren't about WLS, but things that help just as much!

    Hey From Milwaukee

Hello! Congratulations on a successful surgery Hopefully things will get easier as you go. I am still pre-op but my bariatric center recommends the Centrum chewable multivitamins. I get them at Target. Hope that helps

  15. Waiting for approval.....

  16. Looking forward to my last NUT appt!

  17. Hello all! I'm almost done with my 3 month supervised diet. Once that appointment is done, they will submit for pre-approval. From there I meet with the surgeon to set a date, the NUT to go over pre and post op diets, and my bariatrician for pre-op physical. I asked my nurse clinition today if I'll need an endoscopy before surgery, and she stated no. I just wanted to see what other people went through after completing their psych and NUT appts. Thank you all so much for your help!

Anyone Not Have A Pre-Op Diet?

I'm so jealous of all of you!! My surgeon actually is doing the 2 week liquid diet to show it can be done and to get a better understanding of what he's asking his patients to do. Kind of cool Good luck to you all with your surgeries! I hope to get my date next month

  20. Ok ya'll....With part of my tax refunds I want to invest in either a BodyBugg or a HRM. Since I'm a few months away from surgery, I want to make the best decision I can that will help me the most after surgery. I know there will be continual expense with the bodybugg...is it work the cost?! I'm now down to the Polar FT4 or the bodybugg. Any help will be appreciated!
  21. Thank you for starting this blog! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
  22. As much as I hate this answer...my doctors encourage me to avoid alcohol for a year after surgery.

    Psych Eval

I saw the Psych for an hour consult a week ago...and then tomorrow I have to do a 2 hour computerized test then have a follow-up consult with the psych. I think all the programs run a little differently. I take my psych consults very seriously as I had a friend who had WLS, and had 2 different transfer addictions. I hope it goes well tomorrow!
