How Long Does It Typically Take To Get Used To Restriction?
Fabulous Sasha replied to LittleGirlBlue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I struggle with head hunger as well. Head hunger is the reason why we are obese. It will be a daily struggle until we change the way we think. What I have found; the more restriction, less head hunger. How many cc's are in your band? -
Do You Feel The Effect Of A Fill Immediately?
Fabulous Sasha replied to ansoninc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't start feeling restrictions immediately until I got 4.5cc in a 10cc band - so there is some validity to how many cc's are in your band. -
Hello, this is my first entry. I am 39 years old and was banded on 12/2/2011. I have been struggling with my weight for the last 8 years with a steady BMI of 34. I could no longer control my eatting habits and the weight was just not leaving the way it used to. I am married; however, I only told one person I was being banded; and she did not understand why. I didn't want to hear the criticism from anyone. I prayed about my decision and this was a personal choice. My husband of 14 years does not understand - he does not feel anyone should have surgery to loose weight. He believes you should be able to do it with mere will power. Needless to say, the first couple of days was challenging but I am now 17 days post op and no one have a clue that I have had the surgery. I was sore for the first 2 days (the pain medicine was awesome) and I told my family I was on a liquid diet thus is the reason why I was not eating.

December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
Fabulous Sasha replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey December Bandsters! How ya doing? This has definitely been an adventure. I am attempting to change my eating habits. With 3.5 cc in my band - I do have restrictions; but not a lot. My next fill is scheduled for March 8, 2012. I have not decided if I am going to get a fill or not. I have lost 25 pounds since I began his journey almost 3 months ago. I am at a good size now even though I am not at goal. I don't want to loose too fast because I don't want a lot of loose skin. I have definitely had my downs with exercising and eatting right but not loosing weight and I have had my ups with weight just falling off when I was not eating as good as I should have been. This is definitely a process. If nothing else, the band has taught me to make a conscious decision about what I am putting in my mouth before I do it. Myfitnesspal has been an awesome tool. Would love to read how ya'll have been doing. -
You are doing well. Welcome to the site. Dr. Fox did my surgery as well.

19 Months Out - 120 Lbs Down ......
Fabulous Sasha replied to hotsexyrunnerchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You do look AWESOME!!! Congratulations. -
I am appalled at the responses. She is just asking a question; not asking for criticism. Good luck on finding out how to do your self-fills. I pray that someone reads this post and give you the answers you are seeking. For all of you hypocrites, please read Matthew 7:5 and think about the bad decisions we have all made to get into the situation we are in to even need to get a band. Same difference.

Center Chest Pain.. Ouch!
Fabulous Sasha replied to rachelcummings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get that feeling when I have eatten too much. -
I totally understand what you are going through. My surgery date was 12/3 and I had my first fill on 1/4. My appetite started to increase on yesterday. It is OUT OF CONTROL. I am attempting to eat a lot of protein. I can't wait until my next fill 2/1. I have not gained nor lose any weight since my last fill. I freaked out the time of the last fill scared I would be in the red zone; but next week I am going to ask that they put as much as possible in. I haven't had an appetitie like this since being banded. Let's hang on and be strong. Protein, Protein, Protein.

I have mixed emotions about quickly loosing weight. Of course I want to; but I feel I will be more flabby if I loose faster. Not sure what the truth is to that. But good luck. This is definitely a change in lifestyle. If you concur that change - you will be fabulous.

Good for you!!!!

That would be a good thing for me. I crave sweets at night. Congratulations!!

So Frustrated...
Fabulous Sasha replied to bri_belcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We can't expect other's to change the way they eat because we chose to eat healthier and change our lifestyle. We just have to be strong and make the right decisions. We are tempted every time we get in a car and pass by our favorite fast food restaurant. Life is all about choices. Let's stay strong. -
Feeling No Restriction & Tolerating Everything
Fabulous Sasha replied to lillieb53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is definitely a mind game initially; however, we are attempting to make this a lifestyle. Stay strong and think about the end results. -
Experienced Bandsters 70+lbs- How Did You Do It?
Fabulous Sasha posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed some awesome weight lose numbers on this forum. If you have lost in excess of 70 pounds within a 1 year time frame - please tell us how you did it. Do you treat yourself at all; or were you on a strict and regimented diet? Is your lifestyle more lax now if you are in the maintainence stages? What was your daily calorie intake? What is it now? Did you exercise? Do you exercise now? How many cc's in your band? How large is your band? Please share your success stories. -
Caligalles, that's exactly what I am doing - not including the exercise. I just want to make sure my port site is completely healed because I start (I'm also being lazy). The weight is coming off slowly but surely. As someone informed me on this site - if you eat 1000-1200 calories a day, you will definitely loose weight. However, you have to stick with protein, vegetables and fruit. You, have to limit your sugar intake.

I don't know if I am able to eat a cup full or not; I usually stop my self. I hate to throw up/ and or have productive burps (PB) so I just eat enough to curve my appetite and then I stop- sometimes a little more. Lapband doctors tell us to eat 3 meals a day, but throughout my research, I have always learned to eat at least 5 small meals per day; thus that is what I attempt to do not to exceed 1200 calories. The key to weight loss is to increase your metabolism; so I eat something for Breakfast (a protein) but usually I am not hungry. My band appears to be wide open at night so now I am working on controlling my appetite at night by eating a lot of Protein so I will not be as hungry when I want to snack.

It appears my stretch marks are here to stay. I am using sha butter on them, hopefully eventually they will disappear.

I think it is just taking a little time for your body to adjust. I am sure you are feeling the difference in your clothes. The scale can be our enemy sometimes. Just remember, it took you a while to gain the weight thus it may take sometime to loose it's this is not a race, it's a lifestyle.

This is still fairly new. Even though our eating habits are forming into a lifestyle I'm treating it like a diet until I can get to my sweet spot Weight lost to me has always been A mind game; but unfortunately I could not continue with that game for more than 6 months. I would do good for 6 months usually in the winter months then it would take me 6 months to gain the weight back and then some. My challenges are not now but will start around May and hopefully I will be at my sweet spot by then. Let's support each other so we can make it through these times where it is requiring willpower to maintain.

Just Spoke To My Family Doc ~ Bmi 32
Fabulous Sasha replied to Nikki D. Gasca-Gardepe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, your vim is way to low. Mine was 34 and I self paid. Most doctors want even attempt to go through insurance unless you had a higher BMI and you had medical conditions -
I went in for my first fill today. Everything went wonderfully; however I assumed they were going to just add around .5cc no more than 1 cc to my band considering I am feeling restrictions and my band is closed in the morning and open at night. Well to my surprise she added 2ccs. When she told me how much she added, I really freaked out. I know the nurse thought I was insane. I have read so many blogs about the red zone I was afraid of getting too much, etc. Because I was so hysterical, she then took out .5 ccs. I left and then returned about 15 minutes later as I still didn't feel comfortable and it felt as if I could not swallow my spit (just me being insane). They did the barium test when I returned and everything looks fine. The nurse was in shock because she indicated people usually ask her to put more in and for me to freak out about her putting too much in was a first LOL. Needless to say. I am feeling fine and now laughing about what I did - looking back, it was definitely an embarrassing experience. First time bandsters, reading these blogs are a good thing; but please always take into consideration that every individual is different. Don't take the contents here into the doctors office as I did and look like an idiot.

I think it stands for Productive Burp.

Are you eating enough? You have lost a lot of weight within 90 days; a pound a day. WOW!! It sounds as if you are not getting enough to eat. Please call your doctor and post your update. I would love to know what is going on.

I laid on a bed and the nurse felt around for my port. Put the needle in and move it around, a litte, and then inserted the fluid.
